[Bug 375239] Re: Display corruption in OpenOffice
I think the picture pretty much sums it up if you'll look at it. But, in order, here are the answers: 1. Open any OO Writer document. Type a document all the way to the last line of the current page. Keep typing until the sentence can't fit on the current page. 2. The behavior expected would be for the next page to appear on a blank page and for the screen to scroll downwards. 3. Instead of the text appearing on a new, blank page. Instead, the display becomes corrupted and any text typed after that overwrites an artifact of the previous page. 4. [Bug 375239] [NEW] Display corruption in OpenOffice
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org-base In Intrepid or Jaunty, when typing a text document, the screen will not repaint correctly after a new page is created. The sentence does appear on a new page, but an artifact of the previous screen appears and gets jumbled together with the new page. [Bug 288093] Re: Can't play sound because of pulseaudio hang
Under Intrepid, I would usually lsof | grep snd and find a process running that started with "libsound.so". I couldn't stop it with kill -15, but kill -3 seemed to destroy it. After that, restarting firefox or any other process involving sound would work just fine. -- Can't play sound because of pulseaudio hang https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288093 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 288093] Re: Can't play sound because of pulseaudio hang
There seem to be several bugs out there related to this one, including bug 254405 and 353498 (which I reported). I first noticed this problem as far back as Hardy. For me, upgrading to Jaunty actually fixed the problem - I haven't had to restart Firefox since. I do notice times when the sound will "skip" momentarily, however, which might be the flash player reconnecting as described above. -- Can't play sound because of pulseaudio hang https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288093 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 353498] [NEW] Pulseaudio breaks Firefox/Flash
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree If Pulseaudio is running, and any animation in Flash is played within Firefox, Firefox will become unresponsive within a few hours. Afterwards, Firefox is completely locked up, and audio won't work in any application until pulseaudio is killed. After killing the process for Pulseaudio (kill -3), it "resets" the timer, so to speak, but audio will soon fail again hours after that until Firefox is killed and the libsndfile.so process is killed, in which case the timer is "reset" again. This is a problem in both Hardy and Intrepid. ** Affects: flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Pulseaudio breaks Firefox/Flash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/353498 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 254405] Re: No media works when a flash video is being streamed in Firefox. Some times audio freezes afer streaming is finshed
This also is the case under Intrepid Ibex. Switching the sound server to audio doesn't help - in fact, there's no sound at all. Uninstalling pulseaudio and installing esd didn't work for me. -- No media works when a flash video is being streamed in Firefox. [Bug 162432] HP Landscape must be manual and part of image is missing
Public bug reported: Under Gutsy, when printing with a PSC 2510, I have to go into the HPLIP toolbox and print from there or the document always gets printed with portrait orientation. Even then, after I try to print something landscape, about 1/3rd of the image is missing. I have tried to print from both KPDF and the toolbox. [Bug 155830] Ubuntu upgrade requires constant intervention
Public bug reported: During an upgrade of Ubuntu, a person has to answer many times the question, "Would you like to replace the config file " or "Would you like to restart ", during which time a user has to sit in front of the computer the entire time clicking "Yes" or "No". I myself started the upgrade and came back the next morning, expecting it to be finished. Instead, the upgrade program had been hanging at about 1/3rd for hours, waiting for input. Ubuntu upgrades and installations need the ability to ask all configuration questions up front, during the time that the packages are downloading. That way, users can spend some of their long download or install time doing something useful, and when finished, they can simply walk away from it and come back ready to reboot. Certainly there must be some base packages that are always installed regardless of installation preferences. Asking for information saves time and makes for a better user experience. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu upgrade requires constant intervention https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155830 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 130563] Scribus randomly prints portrait instead of landscape
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: scribus Under Feisty with Scribus 1.2.5, the program will sometimes not print landscape for a landscape document. Changing the print options to print landscape sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. If I can get it to print landscape once, it won't save the option. In other words, when I go back to the Print Options dialog, it says landscape, but prints portrait until I change it and then change it back. I can't get the document to print correctly twice in a row without this workaround. ** Affects: scribus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Scribus randomly prints portrait instead of landscape https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130563 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 74277] Kernel Panic: unable to mount root fs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.4.27-2-686 I have been attempting to install edgy on my older dual-proc PIII 800. The 2.6 kernel fails to boot with an overflow in SCM_MSG_LOOP, so I decided to install 2.4.27. I used ctrl-alt-f2 to get to busybox, waited until the Edgy installer asked me what "additional" packages that I wanted, and then chrooted to /target. I then apt-get install'd the 2.4.27-2-686 package. The post-install script doesn't create the initial RAM disk correctly. Rather than putting the initial ram disk correctly in /boot, it instead creates no initial RAM disk anywhere, and creates a dangling /initrd.img link to /bootinitrd.img-2.4.27-2-686. I suspect someone forgot a forward slash in there when they wrote the script. The result is that when attempting to boot, there is no initial RAM disk, and then the kernel will panic with the error message "cannot mount root fs UUID=, please append a correct entry to root=". Attempting to change the initial RAM disk manually in menu.lst isn't going to work, because there IS no initial RAM disk, at least as far as I can tell. ** Affects: kernel-image-2.4.27-i386 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Kernel Panic: unable to mount root fs https://launchpad.net/bugs/74277 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
