[Bug 2081185] Re: TPM FDE installation on oracular fails

2024-10-03 Thread Tim Andersson
I tested this with ISO dated 10/03/2024
(205020dc54b6fc9d61c9a318168398ee2d4f2488d0772c2c190af3c6bf4506ba) and
it's not fixed in this iso :)

[Bug 2080522] [NEW] UEFI secureboot nvidia installation fails to install appropriate driver

2024-09-12 Thread Tim Andersson
Public bug reported:

Running through this testcase:
https://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/461/builds/312970/testcases/1771/results

Unfortunately, it failed.

With an offline installation, after reboot, the graphics resolution was
way off, very zoomed in initially.

nvidia-smi outputs:
```
NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver.
Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.
```

Interestingly enough, after another reboot, the resolution was
appropriate.

An nvidia driver *is* installed: nvidia-driver-550

However, perhaps it's not the appropriate driver for the graphics card.

Logs and other info will be attached in a comment.

[Bug 2079817] Re: Jammy to Noble ubuntu studio upgrade fails

2024-09-09 Thread Tim Andersson
I took a look at the bug, and no, I don't believe there's anything
substantially different. However it seems the other bug makes
assumptions as to which packages are the root cause of the issue, which
I have not. Lots of packages are in a broken state in the logs I saved.
I will modify the bug to reflect that a bit better

** Description changed:

- Upgrades failing with a lot of:
- "Failed to find a replacement..."
-
- I've attached all of the relevant logs - the offending-packages file is
- all of the packages that are "Failed to find"
+ Upgrades failing with a lot of broken packages. I'm not sure of the
+ "source" of the issue

[Bug 2079924] Re: Could not determine the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade

2024-09-08 Thread Tim Richardson
this is not a bug. It's telling you to undo packages added by a ppa before the
upgrade.
ppas can introduce versions and dependencies not expected by the upgrader, so
it's warning you now rather than risking a broken update.

the ppa-purge command will do that for you and most of the time it works.
It can be tricky to get the syntax correct and make sure you don't have any
update or package management tool open at the sametieme.

Run apt update and apt upgrade, then do-release-upgrade -d. The upgrade

[Bug 2074202] Re: Segfault in perf (__perf_cpu_map__nr) on Linux 6.5.0-45

2024-09-03 Thread Tim Starling
The upstream bug tracker says "Please use your distribution's bug
tracking tools. This bugzilla is for reporting bugs against upstream
Linux kernels. If you did not compile your own kernel from scratch, you
are probably in the wrong place."

Since I'm not using an upstream kernel, I'm not planning on reporting it
there.

I fully isolated the bug and found a workaround, so I don't personally
need it to be fixed. I'm following the documented procedure for
reporting kernel bugs out of courtesy.

[Bug 2078589] Re: fight: desktop-base vs kubuntu-settings-desktop vs fontconfig-common:

2024-09-02 Thread Tim Wood
A bug I filed has been marked as a duplicate of this one. There seems to
be a fair amount of effort here to dissect the various log files in
'/var/log/dist-upgrade' ('main.log', 'apt.log').

main.log is 1331 lines long. Roughly 2/3rds follow a "Searching for
replacement for Failed to find a replacement for" pattern

apt.log is considerable larger (4205 lines). The tail end of the file is
full of entries describing "Broken [package]"

Any help or suggestions welcome

[Bug 2078530] [NEW] Update from 22.04.1 to 24.04.1 fails: unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade

2024-08-30 Thread Tim Wood
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Release
Description:Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
Release:22.04

Expected: update to 22.04.1

What Happened
22.04.1 update failed and suggested running ppa-purge
Running ppa-purge produced error: "ppa-name argument was not specified"

Details

> sudo do-release-upgrade

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

This was likely caused by:
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu
Please use the tool 'ppa-purge' from the ppa-purge
package to remove software from a Launchpad PPA and
try the upgrade again.

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If
you want to investigate this yourself the log files in
'/var/log/dist-upgrade' will contain details about the upgrade.
Specifically, look at 'main.log' and 'apt.log'.

Restoring original system state
...

> sudo ppa-purge

Warning: Required ppa-name argument was not specified
Usage: sudo ppa-purge [options] [/ppaname]

ppa-purge will reset all packages from a PPA to the standard
versions released for your distribution.

Options:
-p [ppaname]PPA name to be disabled (default: ppa)
-o [ppaowner]   PPA owner
-s [host]   Repository server (default:
ppa.launchpadcontent.net)
-d [distribution] Override the default distribution choice.
-y  Pass -y --force-yes to apt-get or -y to aptitude
-i Reverse preference of apt-get upon aptitude.
-h  Display this help text

Example usage commands:
sudo ppa-purge -o xorg-edgers
will remove https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa

sudo ppa-purge -o sarvatt -p xorg-testing
will remove https://launchpad.net/~sarvatt/+archive/xorg-testing

sudo ppa-purge [ppa:]ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
will remove https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates

Notice: If ppa-purge fails for some reason and you wish to try again,
(For example: you left synaptic open while attempting to run it) simply
uncomment the PPA from your sources, run apt-get update and try again.

[Bug 2076930] [NEW] Removal request: python-certbot-dns-google

2024-08-13 Thread Tim Andersson
Public bug reported:

Our version of python-certbot-dns-google is quite old, and currently
depends on python-oauth2client

python-oauth2client is long since deprecated, more info on this in [1].

The long term fix is to have a more up to date verson of python-certbot-
dns-google which no longer depends on python-oauth2client, such as [2].

upstream also doesn't have a particularly up to date version of python-
certbot-dns-google, the reasoning behind this can be found in [3], with
the relevant discussions occurring in [4].

python-certbot-dns-google has no rdepends:
andersson123@duckstation7:~$ apt rdepends python3-certbot-dns-google
python3-certbot-dns-google
Reverse Depends:
andersson123@duckstation7:~$

I thus propose we remove this package from the archive, without
blacklisting the package. The package will then come back into the
archive for the p release whenever there is a new version in debian, and
the package gets sync'd.

since feature freeze for oracular is thursday, it's unlikely that the
issue will be fixed before then.

For me, the problem in 24.04 is reproducible, but not after I add my user
to the video group.

[Bug 2076495] [NEW] Display Configuration is not remembered with external monitor setup

2024-08-09 Thread Tim Kein
Public bug reported:

I have an XPS-13 Laptop running Kubuntu with Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS under the hood
connected via USB-C to an external DELL P2720DC monitor.
Additionally, i have an gaming PC connected via DP to the monitor.

Everytime i switch the input source at the external monitor to another
device and back to the Laptop, the Display Configuration is not restored
and i have to manually open the settings and re-enable the monitor, set
it as primary and re-arrange the screens correctly (there are always 1
pixel overlapping).

My expectation would be, that the display configuration for a certain
set of connected devices is remembered and restored upon switching the
input source at the monitor.

[Bug 2076341] Re: autopkgtest-buildvm-ubuntu-cloud must depend on qemu-utils and qemu-system-x86

2024-08-08 Thread Tim Andersson
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 2073938 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2073938

Hi! I've marked this bug as a duplicate. This work is triaged and the
usability should be better soon.

the autopkgtest package will not depend on these dependencies, as they
are only needed for this specific script - the rest of the package does
not need them. Instead, the script will be modified to check for
dependencies, prompting the user to install them if they're not already
installed.

[Bug 2075965] [NEW] freerdp2: ftbfs with GCC-14

2024-08-02 Thread Tim Andersson
Public bug reported:

Imported from Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/1074969:

Package: src:freerdp2
Version: 2.11.5+dfsg1-1
Severity: important
Tags: sid trixie
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-14

[This bug is targeted to the upcoming trixie release]

Please keep this issue open in the bug tracker for the package it
was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in
a follow-up test rebuild.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-14/g++-14, but succeeds to build with gcc-13/g++-13. The
severity of this report will be raised before the trixie release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://qa-logs.debian.net/2024/07/01/freerdp2_2.11.5+dfsg1-1_unstable_gccexp.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 14, either set CC=gcc-14 CXX=g++-14 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.
For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide at
http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-14/porting_to.html

Same here as what jamaggs posted above. Running Ubuntu Budgie 24.04 LTS

[Bug 2074202] [NEW] Segfault in perf (__perf_cpu_map__nr) on Linux 6.5.0-45

#11 main (argc=2, argv=0x7fffe450) at perf.c:537

The SYSFS_PATH environment variable is for your convenient reproduction.
My actual problem is that I'm trying to use perf inside a systemd-nspawn
container. The /proc/mounts looks like this:

tmpfs /sys tmpfs
ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,size=4096k,nr_inodes=1024,mode=555,inode64 0 0
...
sysfs /sys/block sysfs ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime 0 0
sysfs /sys/bus sysfs ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime 0 0
sysfs /sys/class sysfs ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime 0 0
sysfs /sys/dev sysfs ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime 0 0
sysfs /sys/devices sysfs ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime 0 0
sysfs /sys/kernel sysfs ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime 0 0

Perf looks for the first mount point with type "sysfs" and so concludes
sysfs is mounted at /sys/block. Thus it can't find any relevant file and
fails to detect relevant information about the system. Then it segfaults
with a null pointer dereference.

A workaround is to set SYSFS_PATH=/sys.

Apologies if this is not the right place. Perf is in the kernel source
tree so for most purposes it is a kernel bug.

apt-get install autopkgtest --install-suggests

will install these packages with a fresh install :)

apt show autopkgtest

will show all of the recommended packages for autopkgtest

We obviously can't get these as dependencies for the package itself but
an upstream PR which adds a check into the script sounds great :)

[Bug 2073214] Re: hugepages causes permissions error [apparmor profile]

2024-07-20 Thread Tim Richardson
after enabling audit.log I get this message when the profile is in
enforce mode

type=AVC msg=audit(1721533808.319:1238): apparmor="DENIED" operation="truncate"
class="file" profile="libvirt-465a6629-3167-43fc-93da-4c7ef837d863" name="/"
pid=37291 comm="qemu-system-x86" requested_mask="w" denied_mask="w" fsuid=64055
ouid=64055^]FSUID="libvirt-qemu" OUID="libvirt-qemu"

therefore,adding

/ rw,

to the apparmor profile allows it to work.

[Bug 2073214] Re: hugepages causes permissions error [apparmor profile]

2024-07-20 Thread Tim Richardson
One workaround is to do

aa-complain /etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/libvirt-

You may need to
touch /etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/libvirt-.files

because the .files may not be present, it is created and removed
dynamically by libvirt

Another workaround is to (accidentally) break the apparmor profile so it
can't be correctly parsed. I believe that in this case, libvirt launches
the VM anyway, but with no apparmor profile ... this is a bit sneaky.

So if you want to investigate apparmor, you have to see the
libirt- profile in aa-status. It defaults to enforce. If it's not
there, fix the problem.

With aa-enforce on, vm launch fails but there is no logging anywhere I can find
of a DENIED message.
So as an absolute apparmor beginner, I have no clues.

The best I can do is with strace
on the libvirtd process

root@elecgear:/home/tim# strace -f -p 4818 2>&1 | grep memfd
[pid 11307] memfd_create("test", MFD_CLOEXEC|MFD_ALLOW_SEALING) = 3
[pid 11307] memfd_create("test", MFD_CLOEXEC|MFD_HUGETLB) = 3

[Bug 2073214] Re: hugepages causes permissions error [invalid, page pool too small]

2024-07-19 Thread Tim Richardson
I want to reopen this. I think there is an apparmor problem.

Here is how to reproduce:

I made a new Ubuntu 24.04 desktop to an external drive on my AMD laptop.
I did all suggested updates, set up virt-manager and installed hugeadm

Then I download the image for the 24.04 server and installed it in a VM, I gave
it 2GB ram.
Verify that it boots with default memory settings.

Using hugeadm, I create 4000 pages of 2MiB pages.

Then I edit the XML of the vm as above, including shared memory and

It fails with the same permission error as reported initially.

Then I

sudo systemctl disable apparmor

and restart

Now the VM starts fine.

Enabling apparmor and restarting results again in a VM that will not
start with hugepages.

Re: [Bug 2073442] Re: Failed to autostart VM: cannot open directory '/dev/dri': No such file or directory

2024-07-18 Thread Tim Richardson
This is a 22.04 upgraded to 24.04. I never once saw this behaviour prior to
the upgrade (I always use this VM, it is my development environment, so I
would have noticed).

However, I was not using Ubuntu kernels with 22.04, I was using liquorix.
Currently I am on a stock Ubuntu 24.04 kernel.

The ten second delay is not needed, it seems. I was just being very
cautious (or silly). I removed it.

It is not passthrough, it is an Ubuntu guest using libvirt graphics, shared
memory, 3d acceleration.
The hardware is a PC with AMD Ryzen4 7700X and one AMD graphics card.

this is the case without the fix, when autostart failed:

journalctl -b 0 | grep -i -e "\[drm\] Initialized" -e "Starting

Jul 18 20:10:25 black kernel: [drm] Initialized amdgpu 3.57.0 20150101 for

A second run:

Re: [Bug 2073214] Re: hugepages causes permissions error

2024-07-16 Thread Tim Richardson
This is an invalid bug report.

But it might still be interesting because the problem seems to be some
change after the upgrade which is reserving some of the exactly 16GiB of
hugepages I reserved via sysctl.conf
I did not see this in 22.04.

So, I think the problem was the amount of memory I was requesting exceeded
free pages due to something else reserving some of the hugepage pool.

Firstly ...

#Topic 1: Unnecessary entry in fstab and /det/libvirt/qemu.conf edit are
now reverted
#Topic 2: there is no indication of apparmor problems, I was just
eliminating it.

guest config which fails to start: "FailConfig":

 16777216
  16777216

guest config which worked "SucceedConfig":

8388608
  8388608

tim@black:~$ hugeadm --list-all-mounts
Mount Point  Options
/dev/hugepages   rw,relatime,gid=1002,mode=1770,pagesize=2M

Prior to starting the VM:

tim@black:~$ grep -i huge /proc/meminfo
AnonHugePages: 0 kB
ShmemHugePages:0 kB
FileHugePages: 0 kB
HugePages_Total:8192
HugePages_Free: 8180
HugePages_Rsvd:   61
HugePages_Surp:0
Hugepagesize:   2048 kB
Hugetlb:16777216 kB

(I do not remember noticing the reservation of 61 pages in 22.04)

After starting with SucceedConfig:

tim@black:~$ grep -i huge /proc/meminfo
AnonHugePages: 0 kB
ShmemHugePages:0 kB
FileHugePages: 0 kB
HugePages_Total:8192
HugePages_Free: 4084
HugePages_Rsvd:   61
HugePages_Surp:0
Hugepagesize:   2048 kB
Hugetlb:16777216 kB

So, back to FailConfig, but first increase number of pages

try:

tim@black:~$ echo 8500 | sudo tee -a
/sys/kernel/mm/hugepages/hugepages-2048kB/nr_hugepages
8500
tim@black:~$ grep -i huge /proc/meminfo
AnonHugePages: 0 kB
ShmemHugePages:0 kB
FileHugePages: 0 kB
HugePages_Total:8500
HugePages_Free: 8488
HugePages_Rsvd:   61
HugePages_Surp:0
Hugepagesize:   2048 kB
Hugetlb:17408000 kB

and start with "FailConfig"

Result: Boot is successful!

tim@black:~$ grep -i huge /proc/meminfo
AnonHugePages: 0 kB
ShmemHugePages:0 kB
FileHugePages: 0 kB
HugePages_Total:8500
HugePages_Free:  296
HugePages_Rsvd:   61
HugePages_Surp:0
Hugepagesize:   2048 kB
Hugetlb:17408000 kB

Thank you for helping me. I am new to hugepages and without your excellent
reply I would not have had confidence to keep trying to fix the problem.
Hopefully this can serve as some documentation for other beginners.

[Bug 2073210] [NEW] 22.04 -> 24.04, pkg virtiofsd was not installed

2024-07-15 Thread Tim Richardson
Public bug reported:

I upgraded 22.04 to 24.04 today on a workstation PC which runs VMs
managed by virtual-manager

VMs using the "hardware device" filesystem did not start.

The package virtiofsd needed to be installed.

Has this been split into a separate package from some other package in
24.04 with resepct to 22.04?

I think it should be installed if the libvirt family of packages is
installed.

[Bug 2069244] [NEW] Help contents file not found

2024-06-12 Thread Tim Duncan
Public bug reported:

Just installed the games-minesweeper package via apt-get and game plays
fine. However, when I go to Help > Contents then Firefox opens with a
page:

File not found
Firefox can’t find the file at /usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/en/index.html.

And when I go to Help > Help on Mines then Firefox opens with a page:

File not found
Firefox can’t find the file at /usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/en/mines.html.

If I browse in Files to /usr/share/sgt-puzzles/help/en and double click
either index.html or mines.html the same error page comes up. However,
if in Firefox I go to File > Open File and open index.html or mines.html
the page opens fine. Permissions on all files in the folder are: RW-R--

[Bug 2061584] Re: Rendering issues in VirtualBox with 3d on (GTK ngl backend)

2024-06-05 Thread Tim Richardson
the rendering problem is identical when using virt-manager with the
virtio video driver with open gl 3D accel enabled. persists even in
latest kisak fresh mesa.

workaround is

export GSK_RENDERER=gl

in ~/.profile or where ever you set your environment variables.

[Bug 2068034] Re: Installing slurm-wlm from apt gives error "adduser: The UID 64030 is already in use"

2024-06-04 Thread Tim Andrews
I eventually found a workaround:
apt install libuser
luseradd -r --shell=/bin/false -M --uid=64030 slurm

Sorry for the trouble, but it would still be good if the behavior of the
slurm-wlm installer can be updated, so that people do not run into this
issue from now on.

Thank you

[Bug 2068034] Re: Installing slurm-wlm from apt gives error "adduser: The UID 64030 is already in use"

2024-06-04 Thread Tim Andrews
Apparently my error has been around since Xenial, per
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=851103.

UID 64030 cannot be deleted. It is in LDAP, and the account is still in
use.

Is there any chance this can be fixed? Or can someone provide a
workaround?

2024-05-30 Thread Tim Gardner
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

[Impact]

The backport of git://git.samba.org/sfrench/cifs-2.6.git

[Bug 2061118] Re: Rendering issues in virtual machines (GTK ngl backend)

2024-05-23 Thread Tim Richardson
This affects qemu/kvm too. On vanilla 22.04 host, gtk4 apps (e.g. Files)
from 24.04 do not render properly (with 3D/openGL enabled)

via virt-manager

mesa in the 24.04 guest is 24.0.5-1

Fedora 40 guest with all updates has the same problem (open files apps and view
files in list view, for example)
Both hosts I see this on use AMD graphics. Wayland in host and guest.

[Bug 2065288] [NEW] gnome 46 camera app requires systemctl --user restart pipewire

2024-05-09 Thread Tim Richardson
Public bug reported:

In ubuntu 24.40 the camera app will not see my laptop camera until I do
this:

systemctl --user restart pipewire

this is required in every log in.

The camera problem also affects other usage, such as using the laptop camera in
google meet via firefox.
It is probably a pipewire problem.

I don't know where to report it.

[Bug 2061816] Re: apache2 2.4.41-4ubuntu3.17 defaults to transfer-encoding=chunked where this is undesired

2024-04-16 Thread Tim Andersson
Awesome, thanks so much mark! I added this line:

SetEnvIf Request_URI /static/autopkgtest.db ap_trust_cgilike_cl¬

And all is well. Thank you.

[Bug 2060897] Re: Xubuntu installation failed: RuntimeError: aborting install since no mirror is usable

2024-04-16 Thread Tim Andersson
I *think* I managed to recreate this appropriately.

I did an install with the noble amd64 iso dated 15th April 2024, within
a VM and disabled my wifi from the host machine.

The VM was then "connected" to a network, but with no actual internet
access - I hope this is enough to mimic a "deadnet" network.

Anyway, my conclusion is that the install wasn't successful, please see
the log attached.

Perhaps this change hasn't made it into the image of the 15th :)

[Bug 2061816] [NEW] apache2 2.4.41-4ubuntu3.17 defaults to transfer-encoding=chunked where this is undesired

2024-04-16 Thread Tim Andersson
Public bug reported:

We (autopkgtest.ubuntu.com) had an unattended upgrade recently bump our
apache version to 2.4.41-4ubuntu3.17.

This was problematic for us - we serve static files through apache and
seemingly after this version bump, our transfer encodings are now ALWAYS
set to be "chunked".

This is an issue, as we have external services which periodically
download these static files I've mentioned, which need to check the
Content-Length header whilst downloading these files.

I've manually installed 2.4.41-4ubuntu3.16 on our staging servers and
verified that this patch is indeed the root cause of the issue.

with 2.4.41-4ubuntu3.16:
```
 wget -v -d https://autopkgtest.staging.ubuntu.com/static/autopkgtest.db
...
---request begin---
GET /static/autopkgtest.db HTTP/1.1
Host: autopkgtest.staging.ubuntu.com
cache-control: public, max-age=60
expires: Tue, 16 Apr 2024 10:16:41 GMT
accept-ranges: bytes
Stored cookie autopkgtest.staging.ubuntu.com -1 (ANY) /
[expiry none] SRVNAME S0
Registered socket 3 for persistent reuse.
Length: 1434976256 (1.3G) [application/octet-stream]
Saving to: ‘autopkgtest.db’
```

with 2.4.41-4ubuntu3.17:
```
---request begin---
GET /static/autopkgtest.db HTTP/1.1
Host: autopkgtest.staging.ubuntu.com
User-Agent: Wget/1.21.3
Accept: */*
Accept-Encoding: identity
Connection: Keep-Alive
---response begin---
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
date: Tue, 16 Apr 2024 10:23:50 GMT
server: Apache/2.4.41 (Ubuntu)
cache-control: public, max-age=60
expires: Tue, 16 Apr 2024 10:24:51 GMT
accept-ranges: bytes
last-modified: Tue, 16 Apr 2024 10:23:27 GMT
etag: "1713263007.8384898-1434976256-79961951"
transfer-encoding: chunked
content-type: application/octet-stream
set-cookie: SRVNAME=S0; path=/
---response end---
200 OK
Stored cookie autopkgtest.staging.ubuntu.com -1 (ANY) /
[expiry none] SRVNAME S0
Registered socket 3 for persistent reuse.
Length: unspecified [application/octet-stream]
Saving to: ‘autopkgtest.db’
```

And you can clearly see the content length isn't reported.

Is this the intended behaviour? Are there ways I can workaround this to
not use chunked transfer encoding?

[Bug 2060780] Re: CIFS stopped working/is unstable with kernel update to 5.15.0-102.112

2024-04-15 Thread Tim Dee
Good to know a new kernel is coming out soon to fix the issue. Thank
you.

Where is the best place to look to see when the patch is released?

Many thanks.

[Bug 1471380] Re: [Fujitsu Lifebook AH532] Installing Ubuntu on a USB-drive locks out firmware access

2024-04-14 Thread Tim Schumacher
The workaround has now landed in all currently supported linux-stable
branches:

linux-6.8:  6.8-rc7  (f45812cc23fb74bef62d4eb8a69fe7218f4b9f2a)
linux-6.7:  6.7.9(cbf12e716a52d260fabecdca7d5f6e7cd07aed6c)
linux-6.6:  6.6.21   (71da10e633a96593cf59af3f322a9c49a22cb71e)
linux-6.1:  6.1.81   (249d6ca4ff0022a4b51a8eb9fac6d7bff2c94d1b)
linux-5.15: 5.15.154 (9bc9c11c151ab27214cc204d954ee902e9bbe8e2)
linux-5.10: 5.10.215 (f33255ccbb0f627da76364cce72cf980d027142c)
linux-5.4:  5.4.274  (34b5d2ff9ed5cdea9f971f394c0d623761a4d357)
linux-4.19: 4.19.312 (a7bd7dbaa2ddcf8c5ed5d96df240f1442447d252)

I tested the recent Ubuntu 24.04 beta and made sure the issue is already
fixed there.

Sadly, we just about missed the time (by about two months) to get the
fix into the ISOs for Ubuntu 22.04.4.
