[Bug 2064514] [NEW] Azure: Update CIFS to 5.15-backport-1-24-24
Public bug reported: SRU Justification Impact: Microsoft has requested that the 5.15 backport from the upstream maintainer (Steve French) be included in Jammy linux-azure. These patches upgrade CIFS to the same level as Linux v6.8. git://git.samba.org/sfrench/cifs-2.6.git 5.15-backport-1-24-24 Regression Potential: Regressions could include failure to connect, DNS resolution failures, dropped connections, etc. However, Microsoft has tested these patches extensively since January 2024. I *think* I managed to recreate this appropriately. I did an install with the noble amd64 iso dated 15th April 2024, within a VM and disabled my wifi from the host machine. The VM was then "connected" to a network, but with no actual internet access - I hope this is enough to mimic a "deadnet" network. [Bug 2061816] [NEW] apache2 2.4.41-4ubuntu3.17 defaults to transfer-encoding=chunked where this is undesired
Public bug reported: We (autopkgtest.ubuntu.com) had an unattended upgrade recently bump our apache version to 2.4.41-4ubuntu3.17. This was problematic for us - we serve static files through apache and seemingly after this version bump, our transfer encodings are now ALWAYS set to be "chunked". This is an issue, as we have external services which periodically download these static files I've mentioned, which need to check the Content-Length header whilst downloading these files. I've manually installed 2.4.41-4ubuntu3.16 on our staging servers and verified that this patch is indeed the root cause of the issue. with 2.4.41-4ubuntu3.16: ``` wget -v -d https://autopkgtest.staging.ubuntu.com/static/autopkgtest.db ... ---request begin--- GET /static/autopkgtest.db HTTP/1.1 Host: autopkgtest.staging.ubuntu.com User-Agent: Wget/1.21.3 Accept: */* Accept-Encoding: identity Connection: Keep-Alive ---request end--- HTTP request sent, awaiting response... w ---response begin--- HTTP/1.1 200 OK date: Tue, 16 Apr 2024 10:15:41 GMT server: Apache/2.4.41 (Ubuntu) cache-control: public, max-age=60 expires: Tue, 16 Apr 2024 10:16:41 GMT accept-ranges: bytes content-length: 1434976256 last-modified: Tue, 16 Apr 2024 10:14:27 GMT etag: "1713262467.7848494-1434976256-79961951" content-type: application/octet-stream set-cookie: SRVNAME=S0; path=/ ---response end--- 200 OK Stored cookie autopkgtest.staging.ubuntu.com -1 (ANY) / [expiry none] SRVNAME S0 Registered socket 3 for persistent reuse. [Bug 2060354] Re: Segfaults and assertion failures in Xorg's render/glyph.c
Yeah, for me it crashed 100% of the time with no changes, and removing a configuration file (which among other things removed my non-default preference for grayscale antialias) completely stopped the crashing. This is in a kvm/qemu VM. So from my perspective, and from a few others users, it looks like the cause and a good workaround. But other people in the set of JetBrains tickets report intermittent, unpredictable crashing that doesn't benefit from such a settings change. I think think upstream is talking about race conditions. I eventually noticed that it does make a notification icon. It's a daemon with a spurious or incorrect .desktop file. The functionality appears to duplicate and conflict with the "night color" feature in plasma-workspace. If I understand it correctly, the main problem is that kubuntu-desktop recommends redshift-qt, so it gets installed in the ISO. [Bug 2055776] Re: After updating ubuntu, the network to which the subnet address is assigned does not become active in KVM.
I found this bug report after experiencing the same problem. The error message I got was exactly the same as the one in comment #2. The fix suggested by Kazuhiro in comment #9 fixed the problem. I think that since this bug affects more than one person, it's not merely a problem with one person's local environment. I didn't have occasion to use KVM between 2024-02-27 and today, but it was working for me before then and I didn't manually change anything in my environment. I don't know enough about Ubuntu networking to say whether it's a bug in dnsmasq or another component, but surely a package upgrade shouldn't break something like this. $ cat /var/log/apt/history.log.1 (snip) Start-Date: 2024-02-27 06:19:38 Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade: dnsmasq-base:amd64 (2.89-1, 2.90-0ubuntu0.23.10.1) End-Date: 2024-02-27 06:19:42 (snip) $ cat /etc/issue Ubuntu 23.10 \n \l $ virsh --version 9.6.0 $ /usr/sbin/dnsmasq --version Dnsmasq version 2.90 Copyright (c) 2000-2024 Simon Kelley Compile time options: IPv6 GNU-getopt DBus no-UBus i18n IDN2 DHCP DHCPv6 no-Lua TFTP conntrack ipset nftset auth cryptohash DNSSEC loop-detect inotify dumpfile This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. [Bug 1471380] Re: [Fujitsu Lifebook AH532] Installing Ubuntu on a USB-drive locks out firmware access
A workaround [1] (adapted from the respective mailing list submission [2] with minor edits) has been submitted to mainline Linux and was just released as part of Linux v6.8-rc7. Automatic backports into Linux 6.1, 6.6, and 6.7 are pending. I'll submit separate linux-stable backports for 5.15, 5.10, 5.4, and 4.19 (required due to changed paths) once we get the first stable release on 6.8, that should be ample time for figuring out whether the approach introduces any issues. More info: The buggy commit 5c899e1bcda02c755a5327353ed66f0768771644 was backported from the mainline commit: e4ab4658f1cf ("clocksource/drivers/hyper-v: Handle vDSO differences inline") but due to the differences between the mainline kernel and the 5.4.0-107x-azure kernel, we actually should not simply remove hv_set_clocksource_vdso(). [Bug 1973485] [NEW] upgrade to 22.04 on raspberry pi can leave ethernet interface unreachable if vlans are used
Public bug reported: The 8021q kernel module was moved from the linux-modules package to the linux-modules-extras package for the Raspberry Pi. This means that vlans cannot be configured if the linux-modules-extras package is not installed. The release notes mention that some modules have been moved and to install the linux-modules-extra package if your application doesn't work. This would be adequate warning except for one issue. Systemd-networkd will fail to configure an ip address for the raspberry pi's ethernet interface when the vlans cannot be configured leaving headless systems inaccessible. I suffered this exact scenario upon upgrading since my netplan file included vlans assigned to the Pi's ethernet interface. I would recommend either updating the release notes to specifically call out this scenario or move the 8021q module back to the linux-modules package. ** Affects: linux-raspi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: raspberrypi vlans -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973485 Title: upgrade to 22.04 on raspberry pi can leave ethernet interface unreachable if vlans are used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi/+bug/1973485/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
