[Bug 1769397] Re: Xorg crashes, possibly easystroke related

2018-10-23 Thread Tim Banchi
I can confirm Jorge Cardoso, using 18.04 with Intel Corporation Mobile
GM965/GL960, and unity (gnome crashed as well), dual monitor, and
Easystroke.

Right-clicking and then moving the mouse towards the other monitor
crashes Xorg. Over the last weeks I tried out different distros, and had
the same problem also with Fedora 28

If easystroke is not running, there are no crashes.

in the subsequent crash report I get "Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in
miPointerSetPosition()"

in /var/log/syslog I see (beside others):
easystroke[8113]: segfault at 0 ip 7fe92f8d2f41 sp 7ffc96085388 error 4
in libgtkmm-3.0.so.1.1.0[7fe92f58a000+486000]

easystroke is essential for me, especially after gestures are not really
working any more in firefox

[Bug 1272624] Re: [Dell Latitude E7440] 14.04 Touchpad causing mouse pointer to spuriously jump around screen

2016-01-14 Thread Tim Banchi
I experience the same problem with Ubuntu 14.04 amd64 on a Dell Latitude
E7440. No issue with the trackpoint. Sometimes this issue stops
suddenly, but when the problem occurs, it is impossible to work on e.g.
spreadsheets because the cursor is constantly jumping away from the cell
I want to click.

As a cross reference: I found this link:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/462135/touchpad-issue-jumping-cursor-while-typing-ubuntu-14-04-syndaemon-dont-help

But I have to check whether it helps solve the problem

Hi Rousseau,

I downloaded http://ludovic.rousseau.free.fr/softwares/pcsc-
lite/ccid-1.4.19.tar.bz2 and my smartcard reader is still working ( I
tried eid-viewer + bürgerkarte login as before). I enclose the pcscd

Thank you again,

[Bug 1311273] Re: O2 Micro OZ776 not working with libccid 1.4.15-1

2015-06-20 Thread Tim Banchi
Hello Rousseau,

it seems to work!
1) sudo apt-get install libusb-dev libusb-1.0-0-dev
2) ./configure
3) make
4) sudo make install
5) sudo cp src/92_pcscd_ccid.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/
6) killall pcscd
7) sudo LIBCCID_ifdLogLevel=0x000F pcscd --foreground --debug --apdu | tee
log2.txt
--> pcscdlog is enclosed

I could afterwards get the information from the eID card (eid-viewer)
and successfully log on with my austrian bürgerkarte to my bank account.

I still had libccid 1.4.15 installed but the pcscd log shows that 1.4.19 is
used. Also
sudo lsof -P -T -p | grep libccid
--> pcscd   24434 root  mem   REG8,5   295478 390549
/usr/lib/pcsc/drivers/ifd-ccid.bundle/Contents/Linux/libccid.so

[Bug 1363070] Re: USB Mouse cursor jumps and buttons get deactivated with two PS/2 devices connected

2015-05-29 Thread Tim Banchi
a short update:
I found out that it has nothing to do with whether the second mouse is
connected to the PS/2 port or the serial port.
The mouse jumping also happens when connected to the serial port.

Because the other PS/2 mouse never showed any of these problems I guess
the culprit is the Logitech Trackman Live (or the receiver of it).
However this problem did not occur in Windows, so it might as well be a
combination of the specific hardware (Trackman Live, PD01X docking
station) with the driver.

[Bug 1311273] Re: O2 Micro OZ776 not working with libccid 1.4.15-1

2015-05-27 Thread Tim Banchi
Hello,

unfortunately the bug is still present in 1.4.17 and also 1.4.19. I get
exactly the aforentioned error message with both the newer libccid
packages:

SEVERE: Clearing Data for security reasons, due to unexpected problem.
sun.security.smartcardio.PCSCException: SCARD_E_NOT_TRANSACTED
...

to get it back working:
sudo apt-get purge libccid
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo dpkg -i libccid_1.4.12-1_i386.deb
sudo apt-get install eid-mw eid-viewer eid-archive pcscd pcsc-tools

Using Linux Mint 17.1 (I think based on Ubuntu 14.04) 32bit.
It is the built-in reader in the Dell D430 notebook (Bus 001 Device 005: ID
0b97:7761 O2 Micro, Inc. Oz776 1.1 Hub). With 1.4.12 I can use the Belgian
tax-on-web (eid) as well as the Austrian bürgerkarte application (Mocca).

[Bug 1363070] Re: USB Mouse cursor jumps and buttons get deactivated with two PS/2 devices connected

2014-11-30 Thread Tim Banchi
Update to the filed bug:

I found a PS/2 mouse (3-button + wheel Logitech M-SBF96) and connected
it to the PS/2 port of my docking station. I had it connected the whole
day and never I had any issues with non-working left clicks or marking
all texts.

As soon as I connected the Trackman Live! to the PS/2 port the problems
started again after some time.

So apparently there is something amiss with the Trackman Live! connected
to the PS/2 port. If I use the Trackman Live! with a Serial to PS/2
adapter there are no problems.

[Bug 1363070] [NEW] USB Mouse cursor jumps and buttons get deactivated with two PS/2 devices connected

2014-08-29 Thread Tim Banchi
Public bug reported:

This happens when two PS/2 devices are connected at the same time and a USB
mouse is primarily used (eg using a Laptop with a PS/2 touchpad with an
external USB mouse)
Symptoms: after a while (can be 10 minutes or 1 hour) the mouse cursor starts
randomly to jump (mostly down) and up and then the mouse buttons get
deactivated (clicking does not have any effect). In that case, moving the mouse
marks the underlying text (thus imitating a continuous left-click). This
malbehaviour can be temporarily stopped when shortly using one PS/2 device.
After a while the same symptoms reappear.

Setup:
Dell D430 docked to a Dell D/dock PD01x. The second PS/2 device is an (switched
off) Logitech TrackMan Live! (infrared mouse connected via a PS/2 receiver).
This bug appears under 12.04 LTS Unity and 14.04 with Xfce, KDE or Unity
(always using the latest kernels). Using KDE the bug appears more often than
when using XFCE.

To resolve the issue:
disconnect the external Trackman Live PS/2 device from the docking station.

This bug drove me crazy. Only by accident I disconnected the Trackman
and since then my USB mouse works well again. I verified that the bug
reappears as soon as I connect the TrackMan again and I used different
USB mice (as I thought that it might be a USB problem). It did not
happen under Windows, so it is not hardware related.

If this bug is going to be followed up I can test with a normal PS/2
mouse (instead of the TrackMan Live) if the same bug happens or would be
happy to provide logging data.

[Bug 1311273] Re: O2 Micro OZ776 not working with libccid 1.4.15-1

2014-06-11 Thread Tim Banchi
I can confirm the problem with libccid 1.4.15-1 with my Oz776 Smartcard
reader in ubuntu 14.04. While I can still see the card information
correctly with pcsc_scan and libccid 1.4.15, other applications using
the cardreader stopped working as soon as I upgraded from 13.10
(libccid1.4.12) to 14.04 (libccid 1.4.15).

In a java application I got the following log:

and probably more relevant:

The problems can be resolved by:
- manually switching back to libccid 1.4.12
sudo dpkg -i libccid_1.4.12-1_i386.deb

- reinstalling pcscd, pcsc-tools and the applications needing the smartcard
reader (in my case eid-mw and eid-viewer from the belgium government for online
tax declaration)
sudo apt-get purge pcscd pcsc-tools eid-mw eid-viewer
sudo apt-get install pcscd pcsc-tools
sudo dpkg -i eid-mw_4.0.4r1253_i386_tcm227-178474.deb
sudo dpkg -i eid-viewer_4.0.4r146_i386_tcm227-178471.deb

- restarting pcscd service:
sudo service pcscd restart

afterwards all the applications I use needing the smartcard reader
(belgium online tax declaration, austrian A-trust bürgerkarte) work
again as expected.
