[Bug 1068988] Re: Synaptic runs without administrative privileges when run from the launcher

2012-10-24 Thread Tim Chambers
Here's a nice workaround, at least. First unlock it from the launcher.
Then start synaptic from the command line. Unity will show the icon in
the launcher. At this point, you can lock to launcher, and Unity knows
you launched with sudo.

[Bug 177262] Re: firefox -ProfileManager does not open profile manager

2008-01-18 Thread Tim Chambers
I found this at :

There is a workaround that I found on Launchpad -- just use the
following command instead:

firefox -a asdf

That will launch the profile manager in Ubuntu 7.10, Gutsy Gibbon.
Hopefully they will fix the bug in the next release.

Is there more information regarding this workaround? For me, that didn't
open the profile manager, either, but it did open a new window using my
alternate profile manager. I'd like to understand what's going on.

[Bug 119441] enhance thunderbird to include option to forward original msg in reply

2007-06-08 Thread Tim Chambers
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

In my business environment, TOFU is the norm. (Most people use Outlook.)
Everyone's used to seeing the format that tb presently provides when I
forward messages. So I am always opening the message twice. First I
click forward, then I copy the next, then I close that window, then I
click reply, then I paste the forwarded text, then I start my reply at
the top of the message. I do it this way so the To: field is filled out
for the reply and so the message is tagged as replied, not forwarded.

I am requesting that tb be enhanced to provide an additional option for
reply style, which is "reply by forwarding inline."

[Bug 47604] need to upgrade to 2.19.1

2007-06-06 Thread Tim Chambers
I don't think Sean's advice is a good workaround. The maintainer points
out that the situation is improved as of 2.19.1. See
. But Feisty is stuck at
2.18.1.

I blogged about this at http://tbc.livejournal.com/23562.html and am
motivated to drive it to conclusion. So I am requesting that this bug be
reopened. If the Ubuntu maintainer will update the gnome-screensaver
package from 2.18.10-ubuntu1 I will be glad to test whether the fix
works as desired. I'd like to see the documentation synchronized, too
(the text that is shown when you click on the screensaver's Help
button), and am willing to help make that happen.

Please advise.

2007-03-07 Thread Tim Chambers
Here's the short version. I saved the full dump. I'll send it if you
ask. I only have DSL, so 69Mb will take a while...

[Bug 90520] Firefox crash after heavy use

2007-03-07 Thread Tim Chambers
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Sorry to be vague. This is my first time submitting. The process isn't
completely clear. I have a full 69Mb crash dump and a smaller one. But I
don't see where to attach either one. I'll submit and will try to edit
the bug.
