[Bug 1283589] Re: [Samsung NP530U3C-A01] LID close, AC, and battery status events not produced anymore
@tkedwards Only that rule was made to prevent multiple bugs being cluttered together in one bug report, not to be taken literally as a means of filling the bug system with hundreds of useless duplicates, and I quote: Don't amalgamate every issue and hardware you find a problem in after an update... Instead, do a separate report for each distinct issue, on each hardware. This is how different hardware can have similar problematic symptoms (ex. computer won't boot), but different root causes, and patches that fix the different causes. Obviously this doesn't mean that every affected user should file a separate report for a common problem - otherwise what's the point of having the this affects me too on the top. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1283589 Title: [Samsung NP530U3C-A01] LID close, AC, and battery status events not produced anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1283589/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 971061] Re: acpi reports battery state incorrectly
Hello Christopher M. Penalver, I am amazed by your actions in this bug. The Ubuntu bug triage team should work on making sure bugs are fixed, not on closing bugs that affect hundreds of users because of technicalities. juanmanuel found a solution for this bug after almost a year without any action on part of the ubuntu team, and your response, instead of making sure the fix gets incorporated into Ubuntu, is to close the bug report??? I simply cannot see the logic of your actions - other then wanting to show a large number of bug reports closed, no matter what. I am reopening the bug and I am sure everyone here who are affected would agree that juanmanuels fix (which works so far for everyone involved) should be used rather then filing more useless bug reports for the bug that already has a fix. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/971061 Title: acpi reports battery state incorrectly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/971061/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 971061] Re: acpi reports battery state incorrectly
Christopher, You are abusing your power as member of the bug control team. This bug has no reason being closed, other then taking two years to be noticed by the ubuntu team, during which the original reporter changed his hardware. However, the bug has been confirmed by multiple other users over the time, and a fix has been found and confirmed to be working by many of the people affected (myself included). I've found that Chromium does have MHTML support[1], although it is still marked as experimental and require manual toggling in its configuration page. [Bug 239222] Re: CTRL + W is not working while keyboard layout is on Hebrew
Shachar - As not every Mozilla contributor is monitoring every Linux distribution and other bug tracking system, issues are not assigned to the right person. In this case, we were aware of this issue, but it is possible that Mozilla will not be aware of Linux issues just because some smart people prefer to report in Ubuntu system, in which no one is monitoring and issues are never forwarded to the upstream maintainers. The only way to make things better for Ubuntu users and Linux in general is to always report issues to the right project, which is Mozilla in this case. As you can see in the previous comments, until I pointed to the right bug in Mozilla, people here gave the reporter some advices how to get rid of the problem, which in this case won't help him, just because the other people are not aware of similar issues in Mozilla. If the reporter was searching in Mozilla, or filing a new bug (which will be than closed as duplicate) - it was much more helpful for Mozilla, and the original maintainers will be more aware of this issue and the affected users of it. -- CTRL + W is not working while keyboard layout is on Hebrew https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239222 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It is possible I am misunderstanding you, but I am not sure if this is the case. Lior Kaplan is too lazy to login and add his comment. I hope he is watching this bug. In the meantime, he requested to publish here the following posts from 2005 which talks on this subject - http://linmagazine.co.il/node/view/8841 http://linmagazine.co.il/node/view/9820 Since Kaplan gave up implementing this in Debian, there is no need to re-implement it in Ubuntu. [Bug 325324] Re: Hebrew not displayed correctly in terminal
I am sorry, you wrong. DOS never had Hebrew support and the characters set was limited to Extended ASCII (8 bit). Linux terminal is much more powerful and can support wide range of characters and styles. As for printers, the main reason you see them running on DOS operating system and using pinhead printers is because only there they have good support for Hebrew characters. Trust me, I know what I am talking about, I was administrating the computers for such companies until few years ago. As for Linux - Please never translate programs in visual order characters, as this will cause everyone troubles when they will try more advanced things, such as showing that text inside software which is capable for showing unicode characters and has BiDi support. It is possible that in case you have dpkg translated, for example, you will see Hebrew text reversed inside update-manager and synaptic. Since you don't want to break GUI programs, you should not use visual order texts. The previous decision in Debian have been decided by talent people. You should not change this without first asking them for advice, even if you own a distribution, since this will make bad experience for users. You can, however, create a separate bugs for enabling BiDi support in gnome-terminal and every other console/terminal application, but until most of the application have stable BiDi support you should not place dirty hacks such as reversing text. -- Hebrew not displayed correctly in terminal https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/325324 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 95853] Re: Delete file in Nautlus - no warning
We should differentiating the two ways of sending a file to the trash bin - dragging and dropping, or pressing the Delete key. In the case of drag'n'drop, it is not expected to confirm the file 'deletion'. This is the way it is done on MS Windows also. In the case of pressing 'Delete', I believe it is expected (by default!) to confirm the file operation. It is reasonable to include an option to disable the confirmation, either by a system setting, or by a 'Don't ask again' check-box shown on the confirmation dialog (unchecked when shown). File deletion confirmation when pressing 'Delete' is also used in MS Windows. I believe this is the expected behavior by the majority of users, especially new and inexperienced users. As said, more advanced users can disable this feature. The facts are that users accidentally delete files by pressing 'Del' button, and sometimes they don't notice that, as the icon just disappears (is there any sound played by default?). Later, after emptying the recycle bin, they realize it is gone. Some users don't know they should look the disappeared files there... there is nothing destructive for your datas there When a file is moved to the trash bin, the user considers it GONE. Not all users know to look for the files there, not all of them know they can restore it. Data should not be kept there, so being there means it is deleted. Moving it out from there is a restoration operation, not a normal arrangement of the user's data. -- Delete file in Nautlus - no warning https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95853 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It happened many times, and I think that previous crash files aren't saved, so this crash file might not be compatible with the files I sent before. ** Attachment added: Crash file http://librarian.launchpad.net/7132024/_usr_bin_xfdesktop.1000.crash -- [apport] xfdesktop crashed with SIGSEGV in common_desktop_menu() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99040 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 78200] Missing Firefox 2.0.0.1 Hebrew language pack
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mozilla-firefox-locale-he-il Firefox 2.0.0.1 is available in Hebrew, while 2.0.0.0 didn't. As the package updated to 2.0.0.1 few days ago, Hebrew is still missing and contain the note This language is unavailable for the current Firefox version. If you have not noticed, you can get Firefox 2.0.0.1 in Hebrew from ftp.mozilla.org. Please fix this issue since we are getting complains from users (like here http://mozilla.org.il/board/viewtopic.php?p=21543 (Hebrew)) whose want this update to arrive. As a workaround, it is possible to get the file in XPI from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.1/linux-i686/xpi/he.xpi and install the LocaleSwitcher Firefox extension to switch between installed languages. Thanks in advance! [Bug 74055] gdm default theme fails to follow Fitt's Law (options button)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm The Options button at the bottom-left of the screen on a default theme appears to be perfectly flat and covering a large area. However, it actually stops a few pixels away from the screen border. This means you cannot slam the mouse to the bottom-left corner and click, expecting to get a menu. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- gdm default theme fails to follow Fitt's Law (options button) https://launchpad.net/bugs/74055 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
