[Bug 175316] no IDN in nslookup and host
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bind9 Neither nslookup or host supports IDN. If you try , for example, to get the IP for registrera-domän.se it fails every time. As the use of IDN is increasing I think it would be a good thing if these tools supported this. ** Affects: bind9 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- no IDN in nslookup and host https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/175316 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 175316] Re: no IDN in nslookup and host
I'm no expert on the security issue with IDN but it is used on the Internet today and both nslookup and host is very good tools to diagnose problems in some cases. I tried to stop dbus later in in the shutdown/restart process. It now has K90dbus in both rc0.d and rc6.d. This solves the problem with the long timeout but there is still some error messages on the screen. For me autologin or timed login doesn't work after boot up. But if i log in as any user and log out timed login works. I have switched on debugging but nothing remarkable is registered. [Bug 113095] nfs timeout on shutdown
Public bug reported: I use NFS and NIS to connect some workstations to a server and /home is mounted with NFS from the server. The the system shuts down NFS and NIS cant connect to the server and do a correct shutdown because NetworkManager shuts down all network connections earlier in the proces. This results in NFS and NIS doing long timeouts and the shutdown or restart process takes about 10-15 minutes. ** Affects: nfs-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- nfs timeout on shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113095 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Just a comment to Thomas Poulsen. iwconfig ra0 power off does not turn off your device. It turns off power management for your device. [Bug 78491] Re: network-manager insists on connecting to wireless network, even if wireless option is disabled
I have the same problem with nm-applet in feisty. Even then i disabled wireless networking it connects to an open wireless network. I checked the output of iwconfig and noticed that the wireless interface is transmitting. I then did a iwconfig eth1 txpower off and the problem is solved. I thought the idea was to disable the transmitter so it is possible to use the computer in areas there it is forbidden to have any active transmitters. [Bug 44807] Re: Printer options not visible for remote printers
I have the same problem. The server that shares the printers is Dapper Drake and all the clients is also Dapper Drake. On the server I can change all the settings avaiable for each printer. I can also change these settings on each clent from the web interface on the client but not from gnome-cups-manager or any other gnome program on the client. The clients don't even use the settings i have set on the server. The use Letter butt the setting is A4 for an example.
