[Bug 1921828] Re: Cisco AnyConnect 4.8+ server requires a trivial patch to connect

2021-03-30 Thread Toni Spets
Sorry, would love to help but it's not up to me to disclose that
information even privately.

It's unfortunate if backporting the patch isn't possible as first aid
because Ubuntu LTS is widely deployed and these upgrades start to happen
more often now it seems and it creates a lot of trouble if we can't use
the stock package.

Thanks for the work on OpenConnect, though, it's a great piece of
software!

[Bug 1921828] [NEW] Cisco AnyConnect 4.8+ server requires a trivial patch to connect

2021-03-29 Thread Toni Spets
Public bug reported:

I hit this when our customer upgraded their AnyConnect server. Upstream
has merged a trivial patch but it would be much appreciated if this
could be backported to supported releases (most importantly bionic and
focal) as according to the MR it has no ill side effects and a lot of
people depend on OpenConnect in work environments.

Thanks.

[Bug 1651561] Re: openarena crashes upon starting or joining a game

2019-09-22 Thread Toni Spets
For what it's worth, the problem is that the game .so files are compiled
without `-fvisibility=hidden` causing all symbols in the shared objects
to be global which then causes some sort of symbol conflict on load and
wrong functions being called. The fix would be adding it to compiler
flags.

I don't know where in the packaging and building process it has been
lost or if the default behavior of the compiler/linker has changed.

It may very well be that it's an Ubuntu downstream bug and it does not
affect Debian.

This issue *does not* affect ioquake3/baseq3 on Ubuntu 18.04 and is
specific to OpenArena.

[Bug 1783248] Re: Update awscli to 1.15.15 from sid

2018-08-02 Thread Toni Spets
To be honest that's not a bad idea, thanks for the tip as I never would
have thought to look for a snap.

There are some caveats but I think I can live with them as long as
Amazon keeps good care of the snap. Synchronizing the "real" package
with cosmic/sid from time to time would be nice as well.

[Bug 1783248] [NEW] Update awscli to 1.15.15 from sid

2018-07-23 Thread Toni Spets
Public bug reported:

Please sync awscli 1.15.15-1 from cosmic/sid to bionic-updates.

It is an essential cloud management client and when it is left behind we
are forced to use pip to install the latest version. Currently it is
missing support for Secrets Manager (which 1.15.15 has) and that is
causing headaches.

As far as I understand, universe packages can have minor feature updates
during the lifetime of an LTS distribution and this tool in my opinion
needs to be synced periodically with sid to help with cloud deployments.

Thanks.

[Bug 1754871] Re: qemu-bridge-helper incorrectly installed

2018-04-06 Thread Toni Spets
Finally got time to test this. Adding those lines to the apparmor
profile indeed fixes it for me when the setuid bit is set.

Did you add the bridge device to /etc/qemu/bridge.conf? I'm using
qemu:///session with virt-manager.

[Bug 1754871] Re: qemu-bridge-helper incorrectly installed

2018-04-03 Thread Toni Spets
The apparmor profile from libvirt doesn't seem to work, only tearing
down apparmor completely makes it tick. Getting that fixed for Ubuntu
would be a big help.

If you need to test this, use virt-manager with a user session and try
to use an existing bridge as the interface for a VM. You also need to
create /etc/qemu/bridge.conf with a single line consisting of 'allow
bridge0' depending on your interface name.

Will look into reporting the setuid bit not sticking to downstream but
it's less of an issue than the apparmor profile as it prevents me from
using apparmor right now.

[Bug 1754871] Re: qemu-bridge-helper incorrectly installed

2018-03-26 Thread Toni Spets
Reading the original Debian thread I don't really disagree with the
packager but there should at least be a better way to permanently enable
the setuid bit and have a correct apparmor profile so it would be
possible to use it.

I qemu://session as a regular user with virt-manager because it helps
managing images as I don't need to change the owner of anything from my
own user. I would even say this would be the preferred way many would do
"desktop virtualization" if they knew it existed.

[Bug 1754871] [NEW] qemu-bridge-helper incorrectly installed

2018-03-10 Thread Toni Spets
Public bug reported:

The qemu-bridge-helper binary provided in qemu-system-common has at
least two issues:

1. it's not setuid root
2. it doesn't have proper apparmor profile

Trying to use the bridge helper as a regular user will fail unless I set
the setuid bit after every package upgrade and tear down the apparmor
profiles. I'm probably the only one using it but it would be nice if
worked since it's part of the package.

The setuid bit is probably an upstream issue from Debian but the
apparmor issue is likely Ubuntu specific.

I'm on Ubuntu 18.04 and the qemu packages are 1:2.11+dfsg-1ubuntu4.

[Bug 823409] [NEW] 3.0.0 hangs for a long time when loading

2011-08-09 Thread Toni Spets
Public bug reported:

The first packages of 3.0.0 had this problem up to -6 if I remember
correctly, -6 booted but failed to mount, -7 worked just fine and -8
started this hanging again.

The hang happens between grub and "Starting up..." so that seems the
kernel loading itself is somehow bugged.

It takes around 5 second with -7 and almost 2 minutes with -8 and
friends between grub and "Starting up...".

[Bug 145523] Re: umountnfs should umount dependent dirs

2011-06-05 Thread Toni Spets
The usual situation I have is that I have mounted a network filesystem
and over that mounted a CD-ROM image using a loop device. If I forget to
unmount the loop device before I shutdown or reboot the system will hang
at unmounting for a long time because of the order of unmount (nfs
before loop).

To fix this issue directly, all loop devices should be unmounted first.

On Acer Aspire 1200 series the graphics adapter, S3 Inc. 86C380
ProSavageDDR K4M266 hard locks on X startup if DRI is enabled in

black screen. Just plain X, no dm/wm loaded.

Option "DRI" "false" lets the X session start up correctly.

No previous Linux experience with this particular laptop model so I
don't know if it has been working on previous releases. I can't get a
good Xorg log file because of the hard lock, no response to ping or ssh
and the log file itself after reboot is empty (the buffer was never
written).
