I've removed "verification-needed" too - if that was wrong please put it
back Brian.

[Bug 1801889] Re: evolution-ews does still on 3.28.1 instead of 3.28.5 in bionic

2019-03-08 Thread Torsten Krah
Hi Brian,

thanks for the build.
I've tested that build:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-
ews/3.28.5-0ubuntu0.18.04.1/+build/16431621

It fixes all the problems for me i had with the current delivered package
(which i also compiled myself in the past to be able to work with ews at all ;)
).
So for me the package looks fine.

2018-11-15 Thread Torsten Krah
Of cause I can do the required testing. I can verify the bugs I can reproduce -
at least issue 2 and 17 are fixed with that new version (already patched and
compiled a local package for that ^^).
So just tell me when the package is ready in proposed and I'll give it a try.

[Bug 1801889] [NEW] evolution-ews does still on 3.28.1 instead of 3.28.5 in bionic

2018-11-06 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

The package evolution-ews is still on 3.28.1 in bionic where evolution
itself is already 3.28.5:

evolution-ews:
  Installiert: 3.28.1-1
  Installationskandidat: 3.28.1-1
  Versionstabelle:
 *** 3.28.1-1 500
500 http://de2.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

evolution:
  Installiert: 3.28.5-0ubuntu0.18.04.1
  Installationskandidat: 3.28.5-0ubuntu0.18.04.1
  Versionstabelle:
 *** 3.28.5-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 500
500 http://de2.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/universe amd64
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 3.28.1-2 500
500 http://de2.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages

So it e.g. does miss this fix:

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution-ews/issues/2

Could you maybe bring those to the same version?

And the workaround described is already in the NetworkManager.conf (was already
in place). So still there's some problem here using 18.04 LTS.

[Bug 1618471] [NEW] udev: init script unconditionally writes to /sys/kernel/uevent_helper

2016-08-30 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

The udev initramfs-tools script from trusty lts:

/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-top/udev

does not check if uevent_helper does exist and fails to boot if it is
missing - which it is in recent kernels (e.g. 4.7.2 from the mainline
ppa or modern self build kernels where it is disabled per default
afaik).

See e.g.: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=756312

Its fixed in xenials version (latest LTS) but fails in current supported LTS
trusty to boot.
Please backport those simple fix:

if [ -w /sys/kernel/uevent_helper ]; then
echo > /sys/kernel/uevent_helper
fi

and maybe add

udevadm settle || true

at the end to support kernels without uevent_helper enabled.

[Bug 1574653] [NEW] NTLM auth broken in evolution-ews after latest samba/winbind security updates

2016-04-25 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

After the latest security fixes to samba / winbind evolution-ews (14.04 LTS)
refused to authenticate via EWS.
The upstream bug report about this can be found here:

"Nice" thread about systemd + hdparm:

So it seems users should write their own udev rules to get this working
:-| or some custom distro specific stuff. Its really weird that this one

Nvm my last comment, --config is wrong, it must obviously read
--defaults-file=/etc/mysql/my.cnf, works after that.

[Bug 993959] [NEW] libasound2-dev does miss static library since 1.0.25-1 - regression in 12.04 to 11.10

2012-05-03 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

Package does contains a libasound.a in 11.10 (e.g. needed to rebuild darkice as
static binary).
In 12.04 there is a regression sicne version 1.0.25-1 (looking at changelog) -
it does remove the build of the library, however it does make static builds
against since library which did work in 11.10 fail now.
Please readd the static build, as its notuseless - at least some people does
use the static libs.

2012-02-21 Thread Torsten Krah
Created attachment 57325
GPU lookup - kernel 3.2.6; Ubuntu Oneiric

Got some GPU lookup today too (hope its the same thing and the correct bug
report to add to) - happend the first time.
No openGL involved afaik can tell.
System recovered without i need to kill something, but mouse cursor is borked -
so i needed to restart X anyway.

this one using a backported kernel.

[Bug 931980] [NEW] dbus restart fails because of stale pid file

2012-02-14 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

Doing service dbus restart does fail, because the pid file in
/var/run/dbus/pid is not removed before starting.

Doing service dbus stop rm/var/run/dbus/pid service dbus start

[Bug 932003] [NEW] gnome-shell freeze - must reboot to recover, lightdm+dbus restart does not help

2012-02-14 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

Nearly one - tow times per day my gnome-shell freezes and i have to reboot.
Restarting X from a terminal - i am able to switch to a vt but any X
interaction is nearly unpossible (still have to wait like 1 minute to switch
to the vt after pressing the key) - via lightdm and dbus does not help, it will
instantly freeze again after login.
Attaching my xsession-errors file, clutter is complaining about some failed
assertions, mabye its the cause - maybe not, don't know.
Don't know the action which triggers this - sometimes its switching a window,
sometimes it when clicking on a status symbol like pidgin, can't tell the
trigger and don't know how to provoke.
After a reboot gnome-shell does work again, really mysterious - maybe its a
used extension, but theres nothing in xsession-errors which may give me hint
which one.

[Bug 517060] Re: hardy-lucid upgrade using linux-image-xen breaks systems running in PV mode under xen/xenserver

2012-02-01 Thread Torsten Krah
This wont work.
From the Xen docs:
###
Using older Xen versions is known to be problematic, for example Xen 4.0.0
libraries have problems with recent 2.6.32.x kernels, making xend fail to start
due to evtchn/gntdev device node creation issues. Using Xen 3.4.2 or older
won't work at all, since old hypervisor versions lack the new required IOAPIC
setup hypercall and boot will fail with IRQ related issues.

It's recommended to run the latest Xen 4.0.x version, at least Xen 4.0.1.
###

So step 1 would fail, because my hardy does only got a xen 3.3.0 or xen
3.2.x one; but those one would already fail to boot on this new kernel.
So i'll have to update to xen 4.0.1+ first, but there is no such paket for
hardy *uh* - so still a broken upgrade path.

What now? Do you really want to tell me that i am stuck at hardy and
have to do a complete reinstall of my host to get to a supported LTS
release with Xen dom0 support?

2012-01-25 Thread Torsten Krah
Yeah. I guess in next LTS dom0 support will be there again, but the upgrade
path will be hardy - next LTS; don't know if that is supported.
Backporting the dom0 support from oneiric to lucid would be a nice alternative,
opinions?

[Bug 896375] [NEW] lightdm does ignore session selection first time non local user is choosen

2011-11-25 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

In contrast to GDM LightDM ignores the choosen session to start for a user
account and even does forget a users choosen session after a restart/reboot.
I am using a winbind user account (from nsswitch), a non local one.
The first time the user can not be selected from the menu, you have to choose
other and enter the username.
After pressing enter i switch my session from Ubuntu to LXDE and enter my
password.
I would expect LXDE is started, however Ubuntu default Session is loaded.

I have to logout. I can choose now my user from the list (lightdm did remember
the account now) and now i have to switch from Ubuntu to LXDE again.
After entering password and login second time LXDE does load.

After a reboot a have to do the procedure from above again.
GDM did not show this Session bug, i can enter any username i want and choose a
session an its working the first time.

Expected behaviour is, after choosing a username and changing the
session, that this session is loaded.

Found this one:

After doing apt-get -f install + apt-get install apt to get the latest oneiric
one, do-release-upgrade does continue and does not fail with an Internal Error.
urgency=low for this critical fix does not seems right to me if upgrade does
fail because of this bug.

My ADMIN_EMAIL is myadmin@mydomain.local but the login for that person is
myadmin.
However, the cronjob does extract the email address and pass this to
sanitycheck.pl - this does only work if login is a email address.

Login and E-Mail must not be the same persons and at least if they are,
login must not be the email address - this needs to be separated.

[Bug 207791] Re: winbind forgets uid/name gid/name mappings in regulary periods

2011-05-19 Thread Torsten Krah
2. Please try everything below with a fresh install of lucid on a
separate non-production system, if possible.

Tried a fresh install of Natty (11.04) and its even more worse now - i
am seing this one more than 10 times a day and its nearly
reproducable. All i have to do is to open say 20 gnome terminals - the
last one will have this:

Ich habe keinen Benutzernamen!@sf050:~$

3. Please list the most recent package versions (e.g.: dpkg -l|grep -i
samba, and maybe other packages. ubuntu-bug might help). It'd also be
useful to list your distribution even if it's clear from the version
numbers, just to save time looking it up.

ii samba 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
SMB/CIFS file, print, and login server for Unix
ii samba-common 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
common files used by both the Samba server and client
ii samba-common-bin 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
common files used by both the Samba server and client
ii samba-tools 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
 Samba testing utilities
krah@sf050:~$ dpkg -l | grep winbind
ii libwbclient0 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
 Samba winbind client library
ii winbind 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2
 Samba nameservice integration server

4. Please list relevant configuration options (e.g. both winbind and idmap
sections of /etc/samba/smb.conf and maybe more. ubuntu-bug might post the
entire configuration file).

Same configuration like initial report (excerpt):

security = ADS
idmap backend = rid:FRIENDS=1-2
idmap uid = 1-2
idmap gid = 1-2
winbind cache time = 300
winbind refresh tickets = true
winbind enum users = yes
winbind enum groups = yes
winbind use default domain = Yes
winbind offline logon = true

5. Check the log files for related information. /var/log/samba/log.winbind*
might be more useful than some of the other log files. Post anything that might
be relevant.

Log is empty - at least with configuration above.

6. If using rid or ads as the backend, try to find out if you can still query
the domain controller with wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g.
You may need to check klist, net ads status, net ads info to see if your
kerberos key didn't get renewed. Some of this should be run under sudo with an
Active Directory (AD) authenticated user. Consider posting some of the output.

Yes i can still query the AD. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g does work as does
getent or id.

7. Try disabling the cache. Maybe try both winbind cache time 0 in
smb.conf and with the line missing if you're not sure which disables the
cache. Post to the bug the results of trying to get the mapping (e.g. by
ls on a file owned by an Active Directory mapped user).

Using cache time = 0 it completely fails to get the mapping via wbinfo -u or
wbinfo -g. (Error looking up domain users). If i set it to at least 1 winbind
is able to get the mappings (strange)!
The only message in the logs i've seen so far is:

[2011/05/19 14:17:29.841087, 0]
winbindd/winbindd.c:195(winbindd_sig_term_handler)
  Got sig[15] terminate (is_parent=0)

8. Try winbind offline logon = false in smb.conf and post the results
of before and after cache timeout.

Same as 7 - but i still try to get some effect here.

9. Post any information you can about the cache and mapping files. This
could be a tbl file. The log files might give some information about
this.

Need some help here, what to post?

10. List whether you did a fresh install of Ubuntu or an upgrade. If it
was an upgrade, what version(s) did you upgrade from?

Its a fresh install of natty 11.04.

11. Did you try any other idmap backends? If so, please list which ones
and what order. I believe there might be a bug on switching backends
without deleting a mapping file.

No, i used security ads with rid backend.

[Bug 784529] [NEW] syslog-summary uses python2.5

2011-05-18 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: syslog-summary

Installed syslos-summary in lucid.
However the script does not work out of the box because its shebang is coded to
use python2.5 - but this one is not installable on lucid and the deps of the
package does not show any hard dep on 2.5.

#!/usr/bin/env python2.5

Suggested fix is to use

#!/usr/bin/env python

which does work for me.

[Bug 663135] [NEW] gdm broken after update to 10.10 - instant session end - signal 15 - after login

2010-10-19 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

After upgrading to maverick login via gdm is broken.
After typing username + password session is starting but instantly X (gdm) does
restart and your back at the login screen.
Used a new created user and reinstalled gdm already.

~/.xsession-errors does only got one line:

/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...

Thats all.

/var/log/gdm/:0-greeter.log.1 does got this:

** (gdm-simple-greeter:29198): DEBUG: GdmGreeterSession: user authorized
** (gdm-simple-greeter:29198): DEBUG: GdmGreeterLoginWindow: user now authorized
** (gdm-simple-greeter:29198): DEBUG: GdmGreeterLoginWindow: starting session
** (gdm-simple-greeter:29198): DEBUG: GdmGreeterClient: Calling

** (gnome-session:29182): DEBUG: GsmManager: ending phase RUNNING

** (gnome-session:29182): DEBUG: GsmManager: starting phase QUERY_END_SESSION
...

I wonder why GdmSignalHandler does receive signal 15 and is starting
END_SESSION, don't know where to look further to get more information.

Tried kdm and login is working fine there - only gdm does not work as
expected.

[Bug 483050] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 10.04 Rhythmbox will not play mp3 files stored on my Samsung MTP device

2010-08-12 Thread Torsten Krah
Tried again with Lucid today:

- crossfading disabled - it still does crash:

[43502.235914] rhythmbox[7388]: segfault at 18 ip 077679c9 sp bf904860
error 4 in libmtpdevice.so[775c000+1]

- crossfading plugin enabled (0.0 seconds, 32kb size):

seems to work - did not crash yet but did only test some titles.
But using crossfading does not seem to me as a bugfix, it does crash without -
so there must be a bug somewhere.

by fontconfig docs) - but having the thai package still there.

2010-06-10 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

Running akonaditray in 9.10 did show me a icon in system tray - after upgrade

Need to run kcmshell4 kcm_akonadi by hand to get settings menu for

dmesg:

[Bug 483050] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 Rhythmbox will not play mp3 files stored on my Samsung MTP device

2010-04-13 Thread Torsten Krah
I can confirm Johns observation - checking crossfading does make play
work, but not for long time.

Suddenly the player does not know my samsung device anymore:

[ 3553.052194] __ratelimit: 21 callbacks suppressed
[ 3553.052206] hub 1-0:1.0: connect-debounce failed, port 2 disabled
[ 3554.980091] hub 1-0:1.0: connect-debounce failed, port 2 disabled
[ 3556.901505] hub 1-0:1.0: connect-debounce failed, port 2 disabled

After reconnection the device and trying to play again rhytmbox
segfaults:

[ 3667.144316] rhythmbox[3677]: segfault at 74654d3b ip 01234f6b sp
bffb7acc error 4 in libc-2.10.1.so[11c2000+13e000]

So this is still a bug.
