[Bug 869766] Re: empathy crashed with signal 5 in g_main_context_new()
Swen, can you reproduce this easily, or did it just happen once? [Bug 74767] Re: Use workspaces instead of viewports by default
Travis (Watkins): compiz may have used workspaces in the default config when you made that comment, but it seems to use viewports now (in Gutsy). Almost nothing in Gnome handles viewports directly (eg, task switcher applet (because of libwnck), Workspace switcher applet). So if you turn on the Desktop Plane Compiz plugin and set up key bindings, those bindings switch viewports within your existing workspace. Yet dragging windows between workspaces in the Workspace switcher applet moves them between workspaces, not viewports. This disconnection is confusing at best. If Compiz had the ability to use workspaces 6 months ago, is it possible to just make that the current default? Is that configuration option still available and functional? -- Use workspaces instead of viewports by default https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74767 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 135141] Re: Gutsy: Intel should be preferred over 810
My laptop should also default to the intel X.org driver, too, I believe. Or at least 915resolution should be installed by default. Otherwise, I'm forced to 1024x768 on a native 1280x800 display (note that it's also a distorted aspect ratio, which is even more annoying). I was using the incorrect resolution the last few weeks, since I didn't realize either solution - X was just refusing my resolution configuration, so I thought I was out of luck. As far as the Compiz/xv video problem, I have that with both the i810 and the intel driver, so that isn't a regression in my case (but a significant bug nonetheless; I'll file in the appropriate other bug(s)). ** Attachment added: My laptop's lspci -vvnn as root http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9085186/lspci-vvnn.txt -- Gutsy: Intel should be preferred over 810 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/135141 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sorry - this was a (confused) duplicate of #135141. Switching my X.org video driver over to intel fixed the resolution problem (after reading other bugs, I'm fairly sure I had the 915resolution package installed in my Feisty install - and I don't in my Gutsy install). [Bug 122979] Re: [aiglx][intel][r300] Video playback is buggy under Compiz
This doesn't seem solved for me, either. On an i945GM, in up-to-date Gutsy, if I turn on Compiz, video apps crash by default. If I change the Gstreamer video properties to use Xv, they don't crash, but the video quality is bad (pixelated) and unaccelerated. This is one of the biggest reasons I've turned off Desktop Effects (but I really want to keep it on!). The behavior is exactly the same for me whether I'm using the i810 or intel video driver. -- [aiglx][intel][r300] Video playback is buggy under Compiz https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/122979 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 135107] Gutsy Tribe 5 X.org fails to detect proper resolution
Public bug reported: A recent X.org upgrade for Gutsy (within a couple of weeks) makes X.org fail to detect my laptop's native resolution (1280x800), and defaults instead to 1024x768. The hardware: System76 Gazelle: Intel 945GM graphics, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GiB RAM The most obvious hint I can see in the logs is this: Mode: 3c (0x0) ModeAttributes: 0x0 WinAAttributes: 0x0 WinBAttributes: 0x0 WinGranularity: 0 WinSize: 0 WinASegment: 0x0 WinBSegment: 0x0 WinFuncPtr: 0x0 BytesPerScanline: 0 XResolution: 0 YResolution: 0 ... In the logs for my (correctly-functioning) Feisty install, I instead have this: Mode: 3c (1280x800) ModeAttributes: 0x9b WinAAttributes: 0x7 WinBAttributes: 0x0 WinGranularity: 64 WinSize: 64 WinASegment: 0xa000 WinBSegment: 0x0 WinFuncPtr: 0xc00076a3 BytesPerScanline: 1280 XResolution: 1280 YResolution: 800 ... Most of the Mode entries in the log are like that, except for the resolutions 1024x768 and below. [Bug 53754] Re: ata_piix problem with Intel ICH7 chipset
I'm getting the same problems on: Feisty (fully updated as of this post, and regularly updated in general) Linux 2.6.20-13-generic Core 2 Duo 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) IDE Controller (rev 02) Every once and a while, some things will hang for 30 seconds (until the driver times out and it does a soft reset). A few kernel versions back, my Intel WiFi hardware would die sporadically, and I believe I got kernel messages about hard drive issues at the same time. So, these timeouts are better than forced reboots, but it's still really irritating. Nobody else seems to have mentioned another strange thing I noticed: 'df' lists my data partitions as hdaN, while only /dev/sda* exist. This could just be because I've got my partitions mounted by UUID, and 'df' assumes PATA if they aren't mounted by device name, or something. -- ata_piix problem with Intel ICH7 chipset https://launchpad.net/bugs/53754 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 60886] Re: Copying of links in topic not working
I can confirm the problem in topic links in xchat-gnome. Other than underlining and changing the color to blue, URLs in topics appear identical to plain text. That is, hovering over them does not change the mouse cursor, clicking them does not open a URL, and the context menu (whether selecting the entire URL and right-clicking or right-clicking without a selection) is the same as any other topic text. -- Copying of links in topic not working https://launchpad.net/bugs/60886 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 60345] Add to Panel... assumes and hard-codes font sizes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-accessibility-themes Ubuntu's Add to Panel... dialog hard-codes font sizes for launchers whose text label requires two lines at size 10. (Interestingly, if the Application font size is changed to a larger size while the dialog is open, it will apply it to all launcher text labels). For the text that does use the system font size correctly, the dialog assumes it is the same size as the hard-coded font size, and will only take up one line. See the attached screenshot. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open System Preferences Font Preferences. 2. Change Application font size to 16. 3. Close Dialog. 4.
