[Bug 1818829] Re: Disconnected monitors act as present

2019-03-10 Thread Trent Gamblin
Done. I changed a couple things since reporting this though. I stopped
setting the screen positions in the initial commands I posted. I booted
with no monitor attached, without running the script, then connected the
monitor and ran it (again, without settings positions) and sent the
report while the laptop display was disabled (only using external
monitor.) If you need me to run it some other way let me know.

[Bug 1818829] Re: Disconnected monitors act as present

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected bionic ubuntu

** Description changed:

I add a custom mode for my monitor using xrandr at boot. It looks like
  this:

  xrandr --newmode "2560x1440R" 241.50 2560 2608 2640 2720 1440 1443 1448
1481 +hsync -vsync
  xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 "2560x1440R"
  xrandr --output HDMI-1 --mode "2560x1440R"
  xrandr --output HDMI-1 --pos 0x0
  xrandr --output eDP-1 --pos 2560x360

Starting recently, since I installed Ubuntu 18.04.2 (was using .1
before), even though the monitor isn't connected, that "space" is still
there. I can move my mouse out of my laptop screen and it goes over
where the monitor would be and gets lost. And screenshots (Print Screen)
captures a large blank space as if the monitor were connected.

- As I said, this just started happening recently but I don't remember
- exactly what update caused it. All I know is before I installed 18.04.2,
- this didn't happen.

[Bug 1818829] Re: Disconnected monitors act as present

2019-03-07 Thread Trent Gamblin
Do you have a better solution? If I change the HDMI display to
-2560x-360 it doesn't work either. Now there is space to the bottom and
right of the laptop display (captured in screenshot) and the external
monitor is not actually at that position either, it's more like
-2560x-180 (not sure if negative values are even supported.) I've
attached a screenshot with no external display connected.

Like I said, this is a new problem.

[Bug 1818829] [NEW] Disconnected monitors act as present

2019-03-06 Thread Trent Gamblin
Public bug reported:

I add a custom mode for my monitor using xrandr at boot. It looks like
this:

xrandr --newmode "2560x1440R" 241.50 2560 2608 2640 2720 1440 1443 1448 1481
+hsync -vsync
xrandr --addmode HDMI-1 "2560x1440R"
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --mode "2560x1440R"
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --pos 0x0
xrandr --output eDP-1 --pos 2560x360

Starting recently, since I installed Ubuntu 18.04.2 (was using .1
before), even though the monitor isn't connected, that "space" is still
there. I can move my mouse out of my laptop screen and it goes over
where the monitor would be and gets lost. And screenshots (Print Screen)
captures a large blank space as if the monitor were connected.

As I said, this just started happening recently but I don't remember
exactly what update caused it. All I know is before I installed 18.04.2,
this didn't happen.

[Bug 1797031] [NEW] Touchscreen/stylus always reports 1% battery [patch]

2018-10-09 Thread Trent Gamblin
Public bug reported:

I have a Dell 5379 with a touchscreen that always reports 1% battery
with the stylus. This pops up a low battery notification the first time
I use the stylus after booting. The attached patch tells the kernel to
ignore the battery on this particular device, since it appears to not
report information correctly anyway.

[Bug 1635376] Re: double-clicking on an executable created with gcc6 opens an error message

2016-11-04 Thread Trent Gamblin
Have the same issue FWIW. Even many apps that ship with Ubuntu can't be
clicked anymore. If nothing else perhaps keying of 'interpreter' would
be more reasonable as none of the shared libraries I've checked have
one.

[Bug 1001040] Re: "TLS library problem" drops incoming mail when sender uses RC4-MD5 cipher

2012-08-14 Thread Trent Gamblin
Just as a side note here, I have the same problem with postfix. I also
have the problem with Dovecot and Apache, and I assume anything using
the RC4-MD5 cipher. So far I've disabled it in those 3 and things are
working, except my Android tablet can't connect to my mail server
because that's the only cipher it tries. This has been affecting me for
months now. Today was the first time I noticed it in Apache (on HTTPS
pages only on the Android browser.)
