[Bug 877359] Re: geoipupdate return code documented incorrectly

2011-11-09 Thread Troy Jendra
I think the issue is to do when there is more than one dat file being
updated... the return code appears to be for only the last updated
file, instead of an aggregate for all files.

[Bug 677390] [NEW] serverguide: Ruby on Rails missing libapache2-mod-passenger

2010-11-19 Thread Troy Jendra
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

Currently it says to only install rails using the following:
sudo apt-get install rails

To complete the 'Getting Started with Rails' guide, you also need to install
the following:
sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-passenger

Without installing this package, you can access the 'Welcome aboard'
default information page, but things don't work if you set the
application home page(ie section 4.2 at
http://guides.rubyonrails.org/v2.3.8/getting_started.html). Installing
the extra package make things work.

This is on Ubuntu 10.10 LTS.

A change has been made for the latest LTS release which gives another

[Bug 303960] [NEW] mytop wrap problem with high thread ids

2008-12-01 Thread Troy Jendra
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mytop

When mysql has been running for a while, and the thread ids get above
, mytop becomes unusable, because every line wraps, eg on an 80
column terminal

This is because mytop uses a fixed width of 8 characters for thread id,
but doesn't enforce it.

I've added a bit of code to truncate the output string to the width of
the display. Here is a diff:

[Bug 211372] [NEW] gnome panel drawer animation wierdness

2008-04-03 Thread Troy Jendra
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

I've added a drawer to my primary gnome panel. I'm running nvidia
twinview on two screens using the proprietary nvidia driver installed
using EnvyNG. I've also got compiz desktop effects turned on.

When you click on the drawer icon to show the drawer contents, the first
icon in the drawer slides out nicely, and then there is around a two
second delay before the rest of the icons get shown. The desired
behaviour would be to have all icons scroll down nicely.

Also of minor irritance, when you again click on the drawer icon to
close the drawer, a close button gets drawn at the bottom of the drawer
before the drawer disappears(without any nice effect).

[Bug 55812] Re: failed login with encrypted home partition

2006-08-10 Thread Troy Jendra
Problem solved. The fix is somewhere in the changes between the
versions in dapper and edgy.

I got to and set up pbuilder.

I pulled the edgy source, ran pbuilder with a problem, installed the
created deb keeping my old config.

Reboot, I can log in!

I now get this in /var/log/auth.log

Aug 10 13:57:35 localhost gdm[4552]: pam_mount: waiting for mount
Aug 10 13:57:35 localhost gdm[4552]: pam_mount: clean system authtok (0)

How do I tell pbuilder to use a different version on the created deb?
So that if there is an update for dapper, it will install over my own
version(which will probably have a higher version number?).

[Bug 55812] failed login with encrypted home partition

2006-08-09 Thread Troy Jendra
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libpam-mount

I'm running the latest Dapper.

I have my home partition encrypted and setup to mount when I login via
gdm using pam_mount. I originally set this up on Breezy, and it worked
great, except for the auto unmount on logout(mainly gconfd's fault
taking too long to shutdown).

When I boot up, I attempt to log in via gdm using the correct username
and password. The disk thrashes as it mounts the encrypted partition,
but gdm gives it's standard incorrect username or password display. I
can login via console as another user that doesn't use pam_mount on
login to confirm that the home partition is mounted and working. When I
enter my username and password a second time, I getted logged into
gnome. This happens every time I boot my computer.

The most suspicious lines from /var/log/auth.log are

Aug 9 19:38:00 localhost gdm[4550]: pam_mount: waiting for mount
Aug 9 19:38:00 localhost gdm[4550]: pam_mount: error waiting for child

This suggests to me that there is some timeout value in effect, although
looking through my logs, it varies between 5 and 7 seconds. Also the
logs specify on the second attempt that the partition is already mounted
after previously (assumingly?) saying it failed.

I can't recall when the problem started, probably with the upgrade to
Dapper. However I thought I was just typing my password incorrectly, so
I took a while to realise something was up and investigate.

The following a relevant section from /var/log/auth.log with pam_mount
debugging turned on.

The following looks interesting. Could possibly contain the fix.

http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=368481group_id=41452

This is the changelog for version 0.13 of libpam-mount.

The current version in ubuntu dapper is 0.12.

The current version in ubuntu edgy is 0.15.

Any chance of getting a newer version into dapper?
