Re: [Bug 270303] Re: MASTER - firefox (intrepid): "your browser has been updated and needs to be restarted"
I'm not at my computer now, So I can't tell you about ubufox's version (I think its 0.7). I installed UNR 9.04 on my ASUS eeePC 701, it came with Firefox 3.0.8, after a couple of minutes Ubuntu's update manager alerted me to the availability of 3.0.9, so I installed it, and restarted Firefox as requested by the message that lit up on the panel. Since then every time I open Firefox it gives me a message asking me to restart it. I can confirm that disabling ubufox fixed this behavior. I'm wondering maybe it could be interoperability with other add-ons? I have NoScript, Hebrew Calendar, XMarks, DownThemAll, Ubiquity and AddBlock Plus installed. If it's not ubufox 0.7 I'll notify you as sson as I get to my eeePC. [Bug 113526] Re: With ipw3945 adapter the NM doesn't connect to an ad-hoc network with wpa encryption
I can confirm this problem. Using ipw3945 trying to connect to wpa enabled d-link di624 router. When setting the network to open it connects perfectly. Obviously this is not a good permanent solution. Neither is rebooting the router which seems to alleviate the problem from time to time. [Bug 52670] Re: Kubuntu setting default components don't affect gnome/gtk apps
Ok, I did some analysis of what happens when you set defaults in kde default applications. As I mentioned above this has nothing to do with kde systemsettings which is just a cute view of kcontrol meant for kubuntu. When you select another default application for email/browsing etc. kcontrol (which is part of kdebase) runs the following function. void CfgBrowser::save(KConfig *) { KConfig *config = new KConfig("kdeglobals"); config->setGroup("General"); QString exec; if (radioExec->isChecked()) { exec = lineExec->text(); if (m_browserService && (exec == m_browserExec)) exec = m_browserService->storageId(); // Use service else exec = "!" + exec; // Litteral command } config->writePathEntry("BrowserApplication", exec, true, true); config->sync(); delete config; KIPC::sendMessageAll(KIPC::SettingsChanged); emit changed(false); } If you check the headers, you'll find the function writePathEntry is part of the kconfigbase class. This function will write a entry to the users home directory at ~/.kde/share/config/some_file (depending on the setting you're changing.) So to detect changes you'd want something that can detect KIPC::sendMessageAll(KIPC::SettingsChanged); The true problem here is as mentioned above, the fact that Thunderbird doesn't check the browser environment variable but goes directly by calling x-www-browser which is system wide defined by update- alternatives and therefore should not be changed on a multi-user platform. So yes, there's where I stop the problem seems to be with thunderbird and not with kde for it not checking user specific variables (where are they set in gnome?) for the moment. -- Kubuntu setting default components don't affect gnome/gtk apps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/52670 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a direct subscriber. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop I´ve installed firefox and set it up as my default web browser in the system settings. But when I click on a link in Thunderbird, Konqueror is still opened. Thunderbird should use the web browser set as default in "kde components". UPDATE: This affects all Gnome applications, such as Open Office, as well. To overcome this, sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser needs to be run. The same effect should be achieved from within the GUI. + + This bug is part of kcontrol, not kde-systemsettings which is kubuntu's + app ==> kdelibs is the source for kcontrol -- Kubuntu setting default components don't affect gnome/gtk apps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/52670 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a direct subscriber. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 103297] Re: Kernel updater doesn't update grub's menu, lst correctly
Problem solved. After installing a new kernel., dpkg runs update-grub. Read the man page, as seen there, it checks the kernel files under /boot as well as the defaults set up in menu.lst one of them being "groot (hd0,8)" This of course in my case has to be edited to reflect the new partitioning. What we need is either a code that will double-check the current grub configuration and alert the user to a discrepancy between the currently considered default, and the actual default. This alert can also be called upon after closing parted. Another option is having a current view of the partitions stored, and checked to see changes weren't made at reboot. I opened ticket #5167. [Bug 98589] [apport] beryl crashed with SIGSEGV in eventLoop()
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: beryl-core It seems this is the same as bug 95172, but I don't know what to do if they are the same so I'm posting another one.
