[Bug 1532226] Re: A significant number of fresh boots or restarts result in no menus for most apps

2016-03-26 Thread Uncle Spellbinder
Confirming in new install of 16.04 today. Doug McMahon is correct when
he said... "This seems to be continuing at 'random' with no particular
rhyme or reason & no way to reproduce on demand." After installing Pinta
and The Gimp, I had no global menu for either app. Logged out and back
in and all was fine. Rebooted and lost it again. Logged out and back in
and the menus were fine. Very odd bug.

I cannot believe there aren't more than 14 for "this effects me." It
effects EVERYONE because the option to install using free space DOES NOT
EXIST.

Seems someone, somewhere within the bowels of the Canonical / Ubuntu dev

out by mistake. In any event, this effects ALL users trying to install

[Bug 542343] Re: gnome-panel will not autostart on lucid

2010-03-20 Thread Uncle Spellbinder
So how, exactly, do .desktop entries effect missing menu entries?? In
Karmic (and previous versions) as well as Lucid up through Alpha 3,
System Tools included the entries "Configuration Editor", "File
Browser", "GDebi", "Report A Problem" and "Root Terminal". All are now
not present. This was viewable in system > preferences > main menu
>system tools. The menu editor had these entries up until Beta 1. I fail
to see how my original bug -

Could someone please enlighten me?

Beta 1 (32-bit) - Menu > system tools is empty and system > preferences

been corrected by a recent update.

[Bug 472770] Re: NO Audio in Tv Time using Ubuntu Karmic

2009-12-03 Thread Uncle Spellbinder
Well this is just nuts. Whether this is an issue with Karmic, Debian,
TVTime or Pulse Audio - this is a sad shame. A fine app that worked well
on three completely different installs of Intrepid and Jaunty on three
totally different computers. Yet on all three computers with Karmic (or
Mint 8 for that matter), TVTime with sound is impossible.

Hopefully Lucid will have this addressed.

I give up, back to Windows Media Center for a REAL PROPER live TV
experience on a computer.

[Bug 472770] Re: NO Audio in Tv Time using Ubuntu Karmic

2009-11-26 Thread Uncle Spellbinder
I have a friend that I installed Karmic on 2 different computers. One is
dual-booting Win Vista and the other is a stand-alone install. TVTime
has no sound on either. There is definitely an issue that occurred
between Jaunty and Karmic to break TVTime. The obvious culprit would
seem to be Pulse Audio. In any event, seems I'll just have to wait until
Ubuntu 10.04 is released and hope that this issue igets resolved by
then. Shame to have to wait until April, 2010 just to get TVTime working
properly. Oh well. The nature of the beast, I suppose.

As a side note, TVTime sound is not working in Linux Mint 8 either.
Though, I guess, that should be no real surprise as it is based on
Ubuntu Karmic.

I was talking aboutyour screenshot comment. What does 'amixer instead of
screenshot" suppose to mean?

[Bug 472770] Re: NO Audio in Tv Time using Ubuntu Karmic

2009-11-20 Thread Uncle Spellbinder
Well, after installing Jaunty and Intrepid and trying TVTime on these
versions, I can only come to the conclusion that either Karmic breaks
TVTime or TVTime breaks Karmic. In any event, it works in the 2 previous
Ubuntu versions on this computer. So something has drastically changed
to cause this mess.

[Bug 472770] Re: NO Audio in Tv Time using Ubuntu Karmic

2009-11-16 Thread Uncle Spellbinder
Glad that worked. But as stated above, me and others (as stated here and
on a couple of other support forums) do not have the "Aux" option.
Didn't need it before, shouldn't need it now.

Sad. This is the only thing keeping me from ditching Windows.

[Bug 472770] Re: NO Audio in Tv Time using Ubuntu Karmic

2009-11-11 Thread Uncle Spellbinder
Thanks, hrvooje. No help for me on Karmic at least. I'm pretty sure
something has changed in Karmic as there was no issue for me in Intrepid
or Jaunty.

[Bug 472770] Re: NO Audio in Tv Time using Ubuntu Karmic

2009-11-10 Thread Uncle Spellbinder
Well, I have no "AUX" in alsamixer:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v694/unclespellbinder/Blog/alsamixer_A.png

Running Karmic Koala 32-bit (clean install, not an upgrade). This
problem is quite annoying as TVTime worked fine for me in Intrepid and
Jaunty. Unlike the ridiculously complicated setup of MythTV, TVTime is
usually up and running in seconds. Until now. I hope a fix is around the
corner.

[Bug 330375] Re: Package seamonkey-2.0 not published in Ubuntu'

2009-10-28 Thread Uncle Spellbinder
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 461864 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461864

The official 2.0 release was 10-27-09. From what I've read, SeaMonkey
1.1xx will receive bug fixes for a time and then languish into
obscurity.

In any event, the most current is 2.0 and I believe it should be
included in Ubuntu ASAP.

I agree whole heartedly! The official 2.0 release was 10-27-09. From
what I've read, SeaMonkey 1.1xx will receive bug fixes for a time and
then languish into obscurity.

In any event, the most current is 2.0 and I believe it should be
included in Ubuntu ASAP. Hopefully I'll be able to get it via Karmic
backports.

Confirmed here, too. Upgrade to Edgy from dapper went well. Except "sudo
aptitude dist-upgrade" shows this for Python 2.3 and Python 2.3-imaging:
