[Bug 1729447] Re: No wired connection since upgrade to 17.10

2017-11-04 Thread Uwe Koch
I chose to reinstall the 17.10 version from scratch. All the procedure
went without any trouble. I have IP connection over the wire. I presume
something went wrong during the upgrade process from 17.04 to 17.10,
which I can not reproduce.

[Bug 1703276] Re: Could not install grub 2

2017-07-11 Thread Uwe Koch
Thank you, Phillip. I realized what you tell me, since I tried the
install procedure with a dvd, instead of a usb pen-drive. For some
strange reason, the caveats I was offered with the dvd installation disk
(burned with the same iso download), where much more comprehensive and
suggesting than with the usb installation.

All in all, it worked perfectly.

Thanks for your answer, anyways.

I consider this bug comment as closed.

[Bug 1514270] Re: Blueman failed to update while upgrading to 15.10 64 bit and froze upgrade process

2015-11-09 Thread Uwe Koch
Problem bypassed. I closed the upgrade window. Ran a partial upgrade, which
led to the same error.
Closed the upgrade window again and made a smooth reboot. After booting, I
enabled some ppa's which led to a partial upgrade. Prior to run it, I removed
blueman. All went fine and I reinstalled blueman again.

[Bug 1385545] Re: 14.10 upgrade fails with the error : - Could not calculate the upgrade due to poor mirror

2014-11-17 Thread Uwe Koch
Hi, I finally could upgrade to 14.10, following the link below,
specifically the first solution:

$ grep ERROR /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log
$ sudo apt-get remove conflicting-package-1 conflicting-package-2 ...

Too bad that the failing calculation part of the upgrader gives no hint
about the problem that makes it fail.

I hope this helps others, too.

Re: [Bug 1385545] Re: 14.10 upgrade fails with the error : - Could not calculate the upgrade due to poor mirror

2014-10-30 Thread Uwe Koch
Hi Brian,

although that may be the case of some users, I can state that it is not
mine. I already had the main server preset as default. I updated 14.05 a
few times and tried to update the distro to 14.10: I am still getting
the same error. So, in some cases it may be the mirror, in others, not.

Best regards,

[Bug 990491] Re: pkg error due to broken dependancy while updating to 12.04

2012-04-28 Thread Uwe Koch
I got the problem: I changed the source list for the downloadable
packages and found that 170 packages where not downloaded, one of them
beeing a prior kernel version needed to upgrade to the one used on
precise. Sorry for the inconveniences. This report is now closed.

** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Fix Released
