[Bug 44058] Re: suspend when closing laptop lid doesn't work

2009-07-12 Thread Valde_91
I have the same problem with my HP Mini. ACPI states correctly the state
of the LID, but when I close the LID, nothing happens (no stand-by or
blank screen). But I've noticed that if I put manually in hibernation my
computer, when I turn it on again everything is working perfectly! My
computer is going in stand-by when I close the LID.

Bye Valde

[Bug 376793] Re: HP 2140 Lid Close Not Detected

2009-06-09 Thread Valde_91
Hi!

I upgraded my kernel to 2.6.29.4, but this problem with the lid is still
present. I'm still researching the precise situation, but sometimes my
hp 2140 behaves correctly when I close the lid, in my case that's means
that the machine goes in standby. The only thing that I noticed is that
happens after a forced switch off. In fact sometimes my Hp 2140 hangs on
the login splash with the keyboard and the mouse blocked, then I force
the reboot by holding the power button. When I restart the machine, the
machine behaves correctly and gnome-power works perfectly.

I've also noticed what Jeremy has pointed out, also when the machine
behaves correctly, it doesn't resume when I open the lid.

Bye valde

[Bug 376728] Re: HP-2140 won't boot with dual-core enabled

2009-05-15 Thread Valde_91
Also here!

My 2140 boot with dual core option enabled, without the acpi=off option.
The 2140 it's faster with this option enabled. Also stand-by works.

The problem is when I hibernate the pc: when I reboot I've got a similar
screen, with these kernel's output lines.

And Acpi is able to detect if the lid is open or close, but even if the
power-manger is set to stand-by on closed lid, nothing happend.

thanks Valde_91

[Bug 376728] Re: HP-2140 won't boot with dual-core enabled

2009-05-15 Thread Valde_91
Yes my Hp 2140 with dual core mode.

But: 1. I've tried only booting up from battery. (following this thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1088743; page=3, the bug is
present when you start with AC cable)

2. I've installed ubuntu with the dual core disabled

Last thing, I don't know if that could do any difference, I use ext4
format on my HD

Bye bye

[Bug 376728] Re: HP-2140 won't boot with dual-core enabled

2009-05-15 Thread Valde_91
Today i boot my 2140 without the cable. I hibernate the pc. First trying
to rebbot fails: I had a screen similar to the one reported. So I forced
shut down by pressing the shut down button. Then I rebooted, the 2140
wakes up correctely from hibernation, hyper-treading was still working
and even closing the lid put my pc in stand-by.

So I wondering what tyoe of information are reseted in a forces shut
down? because after this the ACPI module seems to work perfectly.

thanks Valde

I Jeremy!

For the locking problem: have you disabled the lock options in the
gnome-power-settings present in the gconf-editor? Check if this are
enabled.

bye bye Valde
