[Bug 743198] Re: You have no chance to survive make your time error

2011-12-16 Thread VastOne
@SLmanDR

Not everyone is running Ubuntu and that method (PPA) is not recommended
at all for debian, which I suspect Terrence is running, but I cannot be
sure.

He has two installs running, one form the ppa (I am assuming) and one
from a bzr install/build which supersedes the git install.

What is needed is to run the git install/build again with the latest
builds

I ran into a similar thing when I had forgotten that I did an earlier
bzr/build. I kept applying the patch and confirmed the patch was
applied to /usr/share/pyshared/pithos/pandora/pandora.py but still
received the error

When a bzr/build is done it puts the file in /usr/local per the
instructions

python setup.py install --prefix=/usr/local

So I was applying the patch to the incorrect setup (My original install
was debian sudo apt-get pithos) .. I am now on debian sid and the
updated version has not made it to debian yet, still sitting at 0.3.13-1

Terrence, to fix this all you really need to do is get the latest from
bzr and build it again, if you cannot do it the Ubuntu ppa way

I removed pithos completely .. reinstalled it

Applied patch this way as suggested

sudo patch -p0 /usr/share/pyshared/pithos/pandora/pandora.py
/usr/share/pyshared/pithos/pandora/pandora.py.patch

verified the patch did install

and am still getting the same error

[Bug 355155] Re: Clocksource tsc unstable leads to lockups in Ubuntu Jaunty

2009-07-13 Thread VastOne
@keithr

2.6.30 does not solve the problem as I have at least 3 machines with
2.6.30 and see the same issues.

On a 940 system I have, I had to reinstall Jaunty (now at 2.6.28-13) and
have not seen a freeze in a week. When I was at 2.6.30 on this machine,
I would see it 3-4 times a day

[Bug 355155] Re: Clocksource tsc unstable leads to lockups in Ubuntu Jaunty

2009-06-17 Thread VastOne
I am beginning to believe this an overclock or a over heating issue.

My system(s) are identical images. I have a Phenom 940 Black that has
run stable for 4 months. When a customer defaulted on a 955 Phenom
chassis with the same specs (except the 955) I kept it and imaged the
940 to the same exact drive on the 955

Both ran great for 1 month.

Then I got into overclocking. The 955 has handled everything I have
thrown at it and as never frozen. It also maintains a very good core
temp of 44

Since an Update Manager update one week ago, the 940 has done nothing
but freeze and/or reboot with no discernible pattern. It could happen in
45 minutes, 4 hours or 10 hours. It could happen with only term running
20 apps running or nothing at all sitting completely idle.

Until today. I turned off the overclock on this 940 and have seen
stable system again. My core temp with the over clock on was a wierd
one. Using gKrellM I would see core 1 and 3 at 41-42 but core 2 at
51-53. Overclock off now I see all core temps at 39-40

The only other thing I can add to this is that I am getting the
gdm_slave_xioerror_handler in Xorg after a freeze/reboot.

And that since that same update a week ago, on both machines, neither
monitors go into a dark mode with inactivity like they used to.

I am running kernel:

2.6.29.4-candela #1 SMP Tue May 26 22:26:20 CDT 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I stay completely updated.

In both machines I have the same make and model nVidia 9500 GT running
driver 185.18.14

Hoping some of this helps

Whatever you need from me to assist, let me know
