[Bug 1725905] Re: vlc crashed with SIGSEGV in QWindow::handle()

2018-03-26 Thread Videonauth
Same happens in 18.04, a potential issue with the pop up notifications.
It happens when they are activated to show notifications when minimized
and the screen goes blank. Happens too when the VLC was the last active
window and open before blank.

Yes, sadly now the NVidia Driver 384.90 (I still wonder where you get
the 384.111 on artful) fails still to build even after the released fix.
But this time with a different message and build log. And without
showing me an opportunity to report the bug (except using ubuntu-bug
command which will maybe not fetch all information).

Yeah I'm not sure as well what this might be. I just did some testing
here again too, installing and changing resolution worked after I had
installed qemu-guest-agent. Did a reboot, still worked, did an install
of spice-vdagend and boom nothing works after a reboot. Checked the
integrity of my ISO installation medium and it is fine. I'm running on
Xorg on the host and running on QXL for example does not want to play
ball still, only VirtIO is working somewhat reliable here. Well as of
now i have normal fullscreen resuolution. but thats it and the full
resolution is somewhat wonky. :)

[Bug 1734253] Re: login in 17.10 as guest in KVM/Qemu fails and ends on a blank purple screen

2017-12-06 Thread Videonauth
Yes i have KVM/Qemu running on 17.10 as host and 17.10 as guest. Installing
17.10 goes fine when setting the display from QXL to VirtIO and the VM boots up
and show the screen in 1024 x 768 resolution all works. as soon i try to
install spice-vdagent which changes the resolution to native or if i change the
resolution by hand the whole thing gets a purple screen after login and no
response further. the above dump files are created on the guest after such an
occurrence
.

[Bug 1719863] Re: ttf-mscorefonts installer error on 17.10

2017-11-22 Thread Videonauth
can confirm this is ongoing since 15.10 till now 17.10. A possible
workaround which always works is the following:

# install it
sudo apt install ttf-mscorefonts-installer

# dont purge or uninstall despite of errors, instead do the following
TMP=$(mktemp -d)
cd "$TMP"
awk '/Url/ {system("wget "$2)}'
/usr/share/package-data-downloads/ttf-mscorefonts-installer
sudo /usr/lib/msttcorefonts/update-ms-fonts "$TMP"/*
sudo touch
/var/lib/update-notifier/package-data-downloads/ttf-mscorefonts-installer
cd ..
rm -r "$TMP"

Hope this helps guys.

that the missing system tray is causing this.

Sadly enough it really spams the syslog in a way which makes it
unusable. Have to truncate it every day from a size of around 60MB down
  to 0.

[Bug 1726083] [NEW] Steam blows up syslog fast

2017-10-22 Thread Videonauth
Public bug reported:

When running steam /var/log/syslog gets flooded with error messages.
Growing it insanely fast to gigantic sizes > 100 MB in a matter of
hours.

The lines in question:

Oct 22 19:07:56 NEXUS-ONE steam.desktop[9806]: This is normally a bug in some
application using the D-Bus library.
Oct 22 19:07:56 NEXUS-ONE steam.desktop[9806]: process 9990: arguments to
dbus_connection_unref() were incorrect, assertion "connection->generation ==
_dbus_current_generation" failed in file ../../../dbus/dbus-connection.c line
2824.
Oct 22 19:07:56 NEXUS-ONE steam.desktop[9806]: This is normally a bug in some
application using the D-Bus library.

This happens very fast, just did a measuerment on it and it was about
213K per 2 minutes wich syslog grew.

Shutting down Steam stops it completely. Bu thats not a real option
since we like to play our games, don't we? :)

** Affects: steam (Ubuntu)

It would be nice to have the cheat sheet being read in from a file or
some other options to customize the cheat sheet with other things as the
  usual normally displayed Keyboard short-cuts.

Idea how to implement it without much rewriting the code would be:
Checking if a ~/.cheatsheet file exists which defines the contents wanted to
be seen on the cheat sheet, otherwise displaying the defaults.

When trying to change a users profile picture it wont change, but if you
