[Bug 1249073] [NEW] Saucy packages for zsh are missing manpages
Public bug reported: According to the zsh site, "The main shell build already comes with manual pages and a Texinfo source". However, the zsh package in saucy (package version 5.0.2-3ubuntu6 - 'zsh --version' reports "zsh 5.0.2 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu)") does not include manpages, although the preformatted versions from zsh-doc are available through that package, providing a workaround. It should also be noted that /usr/share/man/man1/zsh5.1.gz exists as a (broken) link to zsh.1.gz. I have checked the zsh stable release tarball, and can confirm that /zsh-5.0.2/Doc/ therein contains the expected files, so I'm not sure why they're missing from the Ubuntu package. I have also run an "apt-file search zsh.1.gz", and received only files from the 'fizsh' (a zsh frontend) and 'manpages-pl' (polish translations of manpages) packages, so it's not that the manpages have been split into some other package. Presumably due to the manpages being missing from the package, http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/saucy/en/man1/zsh.1.html redirects to http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/raring/en/man1/zsh.1.html - the manpage for zsh 5.0.0 from Raring. ** Affects: zsh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249073 Title: Saucy packages for zsh are missing manpages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zsh/+bug/1249073/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1200639] [NEW] debtorrent's logrotate configuration should include "su debtorrent debtorrent"
Public bug reported: Logrotate, by default, expects the logfiles it handles to be owned by root:root, and writable only by root. Debtorrent, however, has its logs owned by debtorrent:debtorrent. This would be a non-issue, but if logrotate is not informed of the correct user and group, it will complain, resulting in a daily email to root about the "insecure permissions". [Bug 1177023] Re: Hexadecimal numeric keypad layout causes several keyboard-layout issues
** Description changed: Reporting this bug for Ubuntu Raring, but it has been present since at least Oneiric. When the hexadecimal numeric keypad layout is enabled, in any desktop session following the one in which this setting is applied, keyboard layout options are ignored. Changing main-keyboard layouts (if multiple layouts are configured) ceases to be possible, and all options set in the "options" popup of the gnome-control-center Keyboard Layout panel (including, for example, the behaviour of CapsLock, the key(s) for third-level shift state, and the altered numpad layout itself) are ignored. Attempting to change the numeric keypad layout setting back to - "Default" has no effect. + "Default" does solve the problem, but only after logging out and back in + - and, obviously, this does not fix the inability to use the hex-keypad + layout. A possibly-related effect is that even during the session in which the hexadecimal keypad is enabled, the hex digits A through F are not placed as the layout chart suggests - rather than being shifted on numpad keys four through nine, only the digits A through D are available, placed (in order) on 8, 2, 6, and 4 - and affecting the normal arrow keys as well as the ones on the numpad. The expected result of setting a hexadecimal numeric keypad, of course, is that the capital letters A through F, being also the hex digits A through F, appear in sequence on the numeric keypad keys 7,8,9,4,5,6, and that the main keyboard layout and any other options set remain unaffected, including the ability to change layouts. Steps to reproduce: (0: Create a new user account to avoid causing semipermanent problems with any existing user. Removing ~/.config will solve the problem, but this is hardly desirable) 1: Open gnome-control-center (System Settings). 2: Choose the Keyboard Layout settings panel. 3: Press the Options button in the lower-right corner. 4: Under the Numeric Keypad Layout Selection heading, choose the Hexadecimal radio button. (4a: Observe that the hexadecimal keypad does not in fact work correctly). 5: For ease of effect-observation, ensure that multiple keyboard layouts are configured, and/or other layout Options altered from their defaults. 6: Observe that layout switching and non-default Options function correctly. 7: Log out. 8: Log back in to the account in question. 9a: Attempt to change the active keyboard layout. Observe that this may appear to work in the Indicator, but in fact has no effect. 9b: Attempt to produce the expected behaviour of any altered layout Options. Observe that this behaviour is entirely absent. (Optional: Try changing the keyboard layout set as primary, or even removing it from the list entirely. Notice that this makes absolutely no difference, and that the keyboard layout remains stuck in the previous primary layout - even through a logout and login) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: lightdm 1.6.0-0ubuntu2.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-19.30-generic 3.8.8 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-19-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon May 6 18:58:14 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-04-29 (6 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Release amd64 (20130424) LightdmConfig: - [SeatDefaults] - user-session=ubuntu - greeter-session=unity-greeter + [SeatDefaults] + user-session=ubuntu + greeter-session=unity-greeter MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: lightdm UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1177023 Title: Hexadecimal numeric keypad layout causes several keyboard-layout issues To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1177023/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1065904] Re: irssi segfaults on attempt to connect to jabber.org
I've been experiencing another segfault at random intervals (on the order of a day or two), so I've been running with a gdb attached, and I've just found that it's producing the same error when it dies. I conclude that the problem is not /exclusive/ to jabber.org, but can be reliably triggered by an attempt to connect to it. ** Summary changed: - irssi segfaults on attempt to connect to jabber.org + irssi segfaults sometimes when using irssi-plugin-xmpp ** Description changed: When attempting to connect to a jabber.org XMPP account, irssi first spends about a minute on "looking up jabber.org", and then segfaults. - This makes it impossible to use XMPP accounts at that domain. I have - not observed this on other servers. + This makes it impossible to use XMPP accounts at that domain. + + irssi also segfaults apparently at random when connected to other XMPP + servers. The only one I have yet noticed to produce the segfault + reliably quickly was jabber.org, however. Use of gdb does suggest that + the error was the same in both cases. [Bug 899883] [NEW] Flash internal config tool is unresponsive
Public bug reported: In at least Firefox and Chromium, the Flash Player Settings box that pops up if one right-clicks and selects "Settings...", or if a site requests access to more storage or the webcam, is unresponsive. The only way to dismiss it - and thus regain access to the flash object - is to reload the page and thus the Flash object in question. Use of the tab key to bring the yellow hilight-box to the "close" button works, but a press of or to activate it does not. This is particularly problematic for sites that need to request storage, since the amount of storage permitted to a site cannot be changed with the standalone Flash Settings Tool. I have encountered this in at least Natty and Oneiric, using Flash Player from both the flashplugin-installer (and its dependency flashplugin-downloader) and the adobe-flashplugin packages. ** Affects: adobe-flashplugin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/899883 Title: Flash internal config tool is unresponsive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/adobe-flashplugin/+bug/899883/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 733670] [NEW] soft lockup - CPU#7 stuck for 61s! [kswapd1:85]
Public bug reported: kswapd takes 100% of a CPU according to top. Some other processes become unresponsive. Receive repeated messages in dmesg output. This is happening on two servers with very different architectures (one is Intel Xeon from Dell, the other AMD Opteron from HP). The things in common are both are Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS 2.6.32-27-generic #49-Ubuntu SMP, and both run large nginx reverse proxy caching servers. Only a powercycle fixes the problem. [Bug 630049] Re: ubuntu server needs x11/gui desktop
The reason Ubuntu Server doesn't come with a GUI is that it takes up large amounts of system resources, which could often be put to more effective use doing the jobs the server is there for. Furthermore, remote access is much more efficient, and often faster, when it's a command-line over SSH than when it's a full-fledged GUI. If you desire a GUI on Ubunt Server, it's a simple "sudo aptitude install" away - suggested packages are ubuntu-desktop, which gives you GNOME and a lot of other stuff; gnome, which give you, well, GNOME; or kde and/or it's associate, kubuntu-desktop if that's what you prefer. That said, a GUI frontend to certain server administration tools that could automate an SSH connection so that you only have to run it on the machine you're using and can connect it to the server might be nice for some users. -- ubuntu server needs x11/gui desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630049 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 438658] Re: GW6C does not install a gw6c.conf file
Description updated - gw6c now looks for a config file, but none is installed by default, as Thomas and Ezra have noted. At least I was able to copy in my old gw6c.conf from another machine and have it work now... ** Description changed: Binary package hint: gw6c - In tspc, the package gw6c replaces, the init script is set up to pass an - argument to tspc to read configuration from /etc/tsp/tspc.conf - gw6c's - config file should be called "gw6c.conf", so a suggested location would - be /etc/gw6c. However, the init script or gw6c does not provide a - location for a config file, meaning that a customised config file cannot - be used eg if a user wishes to use their freenet6 account rather than an - anonymous tunnel. + background: gw6c requires a config file, which should be installed as + /etc/gw6c/gw6c.conf to run. - This conflicts with the fact that the gw6c package installs a manpage - and example for gw6c.conf. + Expected behaviour: gw6c package installs a basic config file, providing + an anonymous single-host tunnel and with any ubuntu-specific changes, is + installed at /etc/gw6c/gw6c.conf + + Actual behaviour: No config file installed. An example, which requires + modification to be usable even for anonymous connections, is installed + (gzipped) at /usr/share/doc/gw6c/examples/gw6c.conf.sample.gz but many + users would not know where to find this, and no documentation is + provided explaining the correct location for the config file. -- GW6C does not install a gw6c.conf file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/438658 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 414853] [NEW] Setting a mobile broadband connection to available to all users duplicates it.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager If the nm-applet is right-clicked to edit connections, and a mobile broadband connection is edited so that it is available to all users, then rather than adjust the existing connection, the network manager adds a second one with identical name and settings, available to all users. The original connection is still present, but it redundant and may confuse users. Interestingly, setting this single-user connection to available to all again replaces the duplicate rather than creating another. [Bug 350801] Re: boot load error 15
This appears to be an install error rather than a bug - Grub error 15 is a "file not found" error - and more information would be required to fix it. "the 5 gb free space i had": Did you install to a new partition on an existing disk? If so, what was on the existing partitions? If not, then how did you install? "it gave me a error 15": At what point did grub give you an error 15 - was this before or after you selected an option in the menu? Finally, you will be more likely to get responses to support requests like this in the forums than in the bug tracker. ** Changed in: grub (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: None => grub Status: New => Incomplete -- boot load error 15 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350801 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
