[Bug 1938998] Re: [vmwgfx] Update to mesa and xorg-server causes Cinnamon desktop to not render properly
Has this (now confirmed) problem been identified and fixed, and if so, which versions of the package(s) contain the fix? With this information, one could update to the version containing the fix and seeing if the system actually works as expected. I now generally turn off the updates for these packages when the update manager suggests them, as I don't want to interrupt my workflow by having to restore from backup if the fix isn't in there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1938998 Title: [vmwgfx] Update to mesa and xorg-server causes Cinnamon desktop to not render properly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1938998/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1838796] Re: TPM event log does not contain events measured after ExitBootServices
Hi Chris, There are few observations we made while testing. 1. On baseline Ubuntu, we see a PCR7 mismatch. Could you please confirm if this is a known issue and what is the reason for this mismatch? 2. We were able to validate that there were duplicate entries in the TCG logs with the test kernel and extending those entries in the PCR matched the TCG log PCR values. But the same is not true for the baseline Ubuntu, we did not see duplicate values in the baseline Ubuntu measurements. Does the test kernel try to fix the PCR7 mismatch too and also introduces a regression because of duplicate entries? 3. We also noticed that there are no bios measurements exposed by the kernel when secure boot is turned off. Is it possible to get bios measurements in that scenario, indicating that secure boot is turned off? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1838796 Title: TPM event log does not contain events measured after ExitBootServices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1838796/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have verified the kernel image provided above. The PCR5 values in the TCG logs and in the TPM match. I have also verified that the ExitBootServices event is present in the binary_bios_measurements. However, I see there is a mismatch for PCR4 and PCR7 between the TCG logs and the TPM values. I am not sure if that is expected or is it something to be concerned about. [Bug 1297286] Re: Wireless connection keeps disconnecting
Ok, so as I said in my previous comment, I have tested the performance of wifi in Ubuntu 14.04 in 3-4 laptops in last 1 week. After fresh installation, wifi keeps on dropping. Then I applied tlue's workaround on all of them which was: echo options rtl8723be fwlps=N ips=N | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf Now after doing this, the wifi stabilizes but after long usage (2-4 hours continuously) it drops for 5-20 seconds and then either comes back automatically or needs a reconnect (Reboot is not required to reconnect in this case). So after digging about incompatibility related to msi in rtl8723be, I added one extra parameter in above command: echo options rtl8723be fwlps=N ips=N msi=1 | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf After using for 4-5 hours I didn't see a drop. Still I am keeping fingers crossed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1297286 Title: Wireless connection keeps disconnecting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1297286/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have also tried upgrading from 3.13 to 3.18 kernel. It did not solve the problem. After going through a lot of articles, today saw this bug, and the workaround given in tlue's post.
