I just noticed a disconnect today where I had to manually reconnect to the 
network.
But this disconnect was for a Reason: 6=CLASS2_FRAME_FROM_NONAUTH_STA

My previous disconnects were mainly for a reason 4, should this be a
seperate bug?

I've tested with the following kernels and it works much better.
linux-image-3.15.10-031510-generic  
linux-image-3.16.4-031604-generic   
linux-image-3.17.0-031700-generic   

-16 and -17, I could not test for more than a day since I had segfaults.
-15 I've been running for 2 and a half days and the issue is not even 
noticible. 

The only reason I am saying 'not noticible' is because, I did notice the same 
disconnect messages in the syslogs a couple of times but I did not have to 
reconnect to the network manually.?field.comment=I've tested with the following 
kernels and it works much better.
linux-image-3.15.10-031510-generic  
linux-image-3.16.4-031604-generic   
linux-image-3.17.0-031700-generic

the specs read ...instead of saying “Headphones” should say “High volume”, and 
the bar should be colored.  But there is no 'headphones' label above the icon, 
hence the jumping bar.

I've tried following the wiki instructions for using ndiswrapper , from 
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper
 but I'm not sure if I'm loading the driver correctly.  when i run
sudo depmod -a
sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
I dont seem to have the driver working.  I'm not sure if the driver even loads. 
so I tried rebooting.

1) 
With the latest driver from Acer website for my laptop, the system does not 
reboot into Ubuntu if the driver is loaded. i have to boot into a different 
kernel , remove the driver and only then can i boot ubuntu into that particular 
kernel.

2)
The wireless connection works without problems when I boot into windows xp. So 
i figured that this would be the best driver to use.
 I tried finding the driver from the windows Xp boot, but I was only able to 
find the .sys file and .dll, but could not find the  .inf file in the windows 
partition. 
any ideas as to where i could find the .inf file?

3)
Now the system does not load iwl3945 module every time i boot up the laptop.i 
manually have to run $ sudo modprobe iwl3945 each time. I tried commenting out 
the blacklist of the  iwl3945 module   also removing the blacklist which i had 
to do during the ndiswrapper instructions, but that did not help.
How do I make sure that the  iwl3945 module loads automatically?

Yup, but when I did the cat, it kept giving me an error:
# cat options iwl3945 11n_disable=1  /etc/modprobe.d/iwl3945.conf
cat: options iwl3945 11n_disable=1: No such file or directory

So I just manually added the options line via gedit. (Attaching the conf
file just for reference, maybe I did it wrong)

And all this is in the latest mainline kernel.
$ uname -a

the connection by using the rf kill switch. At that time I see these

Not an issue with Humanity icon theme. 
Nautilus developers decided to use monochrome symbolic icons for the 
navigation, while other apps use the regular color icons. 
Both the icons are available for use. 

The Ubuntu project just needs to decide what the standard should be for
apps and then apps just need to follow the project's standard.

We recently updated a new icon for apport in bug 1079639.
But apparently the svg of icon is not being handled properly and artefacts are 
seen in:

The icon has several layers, which creates the white patches when not parsed 
properly by either the launcher or gtk. (should be displayed as  
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/148354254/apport-final.png )
The real error is not with apport, but fixing it here is easier than hunting 
for where the real issue might be. It is also a known issue that gtk can't 
render properly certain types of layers/styles in the svg. So using png files 
might be the only fix.

Please replace the svgs used in the current package with the attached
exported PNGs

Adding the icon to upstream and dropping the one in ubuntu-mono  Humanity 
package would be the right way to do it. 
 - We are updating the apport branding. 
 - This is a bit more work, but better in the long run. If we move to a 
different default theme at some point we would not have to revisit this issue.
 - When we did the ubuntu-mono/humanity red one it was just meant for the top 
panel. But we ended up dropping the apport icon from showing up in the top 
panel. So removing the icons from both ubuntu-mono and Humanity would be the 
best way to do it. Otherwise the humanity icon would be used even if 
ubuntu-mono icon is removed.
 - Even if users change themes this new icon would be used, otherwise the red 
one would keep being used for themes falling back to Humanity. Of course, icon 
themes can have their own replacement.

I liked Sam's idea of a paper plane crashing. But rather wanted to focus on the 
reason the window is being displayed to the user - 'to send information'. 
So I used the paper plane as a metaphor to information being sent and used the 
blue color that we use for panel notifications - as in 'a notification about 
information ready to be sent'.

I recall that we needed a new icon for software updater too, so we can
just use the similar paper plane metaphor for updates arriving (not sure
if we are still looking for a new updater icon) - as 'in new updates
arriving'.. ;-) Right now, the shopping bag is the same color as the
software center, but if necessary, we could change it to either green or
blue(wouldnt blue be close to Windows?).

This is because we are seeing several different icon themes in that window. 
Details  Universal Access  - from Humanity.
* Landscape Management - from Landscape client.
* Privacy  Time  Date - from Gnome Icon theme

While one could argue that all the icons could be created and included
in Humanity, this is not likely to happen. With the prospects/rumours of
a new icon-theme/design style for the default Ubuntu, Humanity
development has not made progress and it is less likely for new icons to
be created. Humanity is currently in maintenance-only mode for major
issues which break the OS.

Jeremy, 
We already do add color icons in ubuntu-mono for a few apps. Ex: Nautilus  
'system-file-manager', 'user-desktop' . 
We do that so that these changes affect Ubuntu only and not other downstream 
distros which might use Humanity.
Also, these icons are most probably proprietary, so we do not want to add these 
icons to Humanity and change the licensing/authors/etc..

FYI i could reproduce a hang in dd doing the following:

truncate -s 1G foo
sudo losetup -f --show foo
echo 0 2097152 zero | sudo dmsetup create zero1
echo 0 2097152 snapshot /dev/mapper/zero1 /dev/loop0 n 128 | sudo dmsetup 
create clean1
sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mapper/clean1 bs=1M count=1024

Using strace, the command hangs partway through:

read(0, \0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0..., 
1048576) = 1048576
write(1, \0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0..., 
1048576

I can ctrl-c out of strace but the resulting dd process is completely
hung and unkillalble

Note that this is running in a (vmware fusion) vm.

As noted in lib/cinder (or the devstack docs  at
http://devstack.org/lib/cinder.html)If you create a volume group called
stack-volumes it will use that instead of creating a loopback device.
You can even use a different volume group by putting VOLUME_GROUP=xxx in
your localrc.

force_hosts is not a hint meant to be exposed to a user. if you want to
force a host as an admin you can use the availability zone syntax:

nova boot --image uuid --flavor m1.tiny --key_name mykey
--availability-zone nova:sleepy

ugh, this is nasty. Looks like we need a migration for this. For
backport we could add a translation using the ec2_id table to convert
from the old name to the new one. Some testing needs to be done to
figure out if the new iqns are actually there in all cases or if there
is a case where the old iqn will exist.

Do you have iscsi_ip_address set on the volume host? It needs to be an
ip that the compute hosts can hit. When the volume is created this ip is
stored for connection information in the database, so if you don't have
it set, you will probably need to set it, restart nova-volume and
recreate volumes before attaching.

it should be getting the url from keystone anyway, so I don't imagine
that the nova url is a problem.  I think it is far more likely that you
have an older version of novaclient that is overiding the one from

Ah, deprecated auth is most likely the problem.  I suspect deprecated
auth doesn't support multiple endpoints. It really is only still there
to allow you to transition to keystone. Is there some reason you haven't

it looks like precise has an older version of novaclient?  this was
changed around e-3 timeframe when we gave the volume api its own
endpoint.

[Bug 977765] Re: Image registration (ec2) is broken using deprecated auth

Here was the commit: a6ac8af69351cb39aa07f53e3327ff29b90383bc

We only left deprecated auth in essex for the purpose of migration, so
running a production system of deprecatd auth is definitely not
supported.  That said, it is probably a pretty easy fix.

Add back in the project_id on register and default the ImageOwner field
to properties.project_id
