Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
I did a fresh install of Intrepid today morning and performed all the
updates. On booting or re-logging Intrepid, I can hear the login sound.
After that, the sound breaks. I get the following error:
Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument
On testing the sound in System>Prefs>Sound I get the following error:
audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample !
gconfaudiosink: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument
In short I have to manually kill pulseaudio with
pulseaudio -k
and restart using
pulseaudio -D --log-target=syslog
after restarting PA, I don't have any problems with the sound.
A workaround: I decided to disable the GNOME login sound in
System>Prefs>Sessions and tested if the sound breaks. And I found that
pulseaudio works perfectly fine.
