[Bug 739293] [NEW] Network error in Weather

2011-03-21 Thread Vitaliy Kulikov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: avant-window-navigator

There is no connectivity issue, and oddly, the weather is correctly
displayed. Yet this message box continues to periodically pop up.

To get rid of the annoying error notification see post on Ubuntu Forums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1704685

Short version: comment out (or delete) line #240 in /usr/share/avant-
window-navigator/applets/weather/weather.py (effectively disabling
self.notification.show) and restart the applet.

[Bug 479468] Re: I could no longer bring up the terminal with Ctrl+Alt+F1 with 'Separate X screen'

2010-03-18 Thread Vitaliy Kulikov
i had the same issue .. so can't remember the fix actually ... but could
u try to change ur boot process,

so, change /etc/default/grub to:

-start-
GRUB_DEFAULT=0
#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true
GRUB_TIMEOUT=10
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2 /dev/null || echo Debian`
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=

# Uncomment to disable graphical terminal (grub-pc only)
#GRUB_TERMINAL=console

# The resolution used on graphical terminal
# note that you can use only modes which your graphic card supports via VBE
# you can see them in real GRUB with the command `vbeinfo'
#GRUB_GFXMODE=640x480

# Uncomment if you don't want GRUB to pass root=UUID=xxx parameter to Linux
#GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true

# Uncomment to disable generation of recovery mode menu entrys
#GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_RECOVERY=true
end--

and run
$ sudo update-grub

i think that the main idea is to remove 'splash' from
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash

(also try to remove 'quiet')

[Bug 395630] Re: Broadcom STA module is not loadable on karmic due to unknown symbols

2010-03-15 Thread Vitaliy Kulikov
NOT All linux-backports-modules-* must be removed to provide work.
Just, linux-backports-modules-$(uname -r)

I use linux-backports-modules-alsa .. for audio digging =)
