Hello,

Can I learn what kind of configuration issue was that? I happen to get
the same error on Ideapad S12, Maverick.

Thanks

Great finding. I can confirm that the command from gloawu fixes the problem.
My curiosity drives me to ask how did you find this out?

Is there possibly anything that we can do to get this fixed in the

Thanks.

[Bug 104990] Re: [need-packaging] Subclipse

2007-10-02 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Few comments from the top of my head:

* Using perl script to unpack a zip and copy it to proper place is IMO
overkill, it can be done inside rules file.

* EPL is a "good" license and we don't need to accept it explicitly.
Otherwise the same dialog would need to appear for Eclipse itself.

* Depends must contain either one of the Java SVN clients that subclipse
uses (libsvn-javahl, svnkit).

* The schema for naming the Eclipse plugin packages is eclipse-
like eclipse-cdt, eclipse-pydev.

* Must go to multiverse since it is an all-binary package.

* Binary deb package contains javahl.win32.jar, which is completely
useless on Ubuntu.

* It might be a good idea to discus this kind of package at #debian-
java, #ubuntu-java or debian-java mailing-list. The overall effort is to
make Ubuntu and Debian Java as close as possible.

* There is (currently broken) source package for subclipse at http
://debian-eclipse.wfrag.org/tracpy/ . You might want to ask its author
for current status.

Anyway, Stephane, thank you for your work, I would love to see svn
support (either subclipse or subversive) for Eclipse in Ubuntu.

2007-09-05 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Hi Patrice,

GCJ included in Gutsy already handles 1.5 Java so this is no longer a
problem. I am going to package the latest pydev as soon as I find
enough time for it.

What Lionel meant is to file a UVF bug (use this one), so that when we
have the package ready we can follow the UVF process and put it in
Gutsy. If you would like to help with this please take a look at the
URL Lionel provided.

Re: [Bug 99318] Re: eclipse-pydev depends on eclipse-sdk

Currently eclipse-pydev depends on eclipse-sdk, which is a transition

[Bug 92405] Re: [Feisty] gnome-terminal doesn't always redraw after switching desktops

2007-03-25 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
I updated to vte 1:0.16.0-0ubuntu4, stopped all gnome-terminals and
spawned a new one, but I still get the issue.

When I switch the virtual desktop out of the gnome-terminal and back
again, most of the times it is blank.

[Bug 94442] Re: Eclipse and pydev doesn`t work anymore after reboot

2007-03-22 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Can you please try running Eclipse on different workspace?

eclipse -data /new/workspace

I think that this should help. The problem for me seems to be some
character that Java IO cannot cope with.

You can also try using other vm like

eclipse -vm /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/bin/java

If you succeed, please let us know.

[Bug 91496] Switching tab when reconnected

2007-03-11 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gaim

Using the latest Feisty, gaim 1:2.0.0+beta6-1ubuntu1.

I use several accounts in gaim, including irc and leave the
conversations open. irc tends to reconnect much slower than jabber, when
my laptop is suspended or gets disconnected otherwise. When I start
typing a new message in a jabber tab, which is already reconnected, when
an IRC tab gets reconnected gaim switches to it.

This behavior was already resolved in connection to other programs
(gnome-terminal) by letting the window unfocused and blinking the window
list item. However, inside gaim it stays the same.

Re: [Bug 84602] Re: Eclipse + pydev

2007-02-24 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
It is unlikely that Sun Java will be the direct dependency for
Eclipse. Currently it depends on java2-runtime, which is provided by
Sun Java, GCJ and maybe more. GCJ just happens to be installed per
default, because it has less strict licensing (GCJ is in main, while
Sun is in multiverse).

Downloading software using Eclipse update is always an option, however
this is not what we wanted. There should be working eclipse-pydev
package. If you would like, please take a look at the package
mentioned above, if that fixes the problems. Any comments on that are
appreciated.

Re: [Bug 84602] Re: Eclipse + pydev

2007-02-21 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Unfortunately, I am not able to track the problem right now. There is
a new version of Pydev, which does not require that horrible 1.4 java
backport patch. So this could probably help. However, I am not sure,
if it will make it to Feisty. If you would like just to test the
package, it is located at http://buntudot.org/people/~vil/ . If it
will work that will be a good argument to put it to Feisty.

Re: [Bug 84602] Re: Eclipse + pydev

2007-02-14 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Unfortunately, I cannot see anything wrong right now. You can try
using Sun Java to run Eclipse, if that helps. This is not really a
solution, but can help you in this particular case.

If the problem persists, there might be problem with the python
scripts used by pydev to do the actual autocompletion. Some debugging
info can be obtained by running Eclipse from the command line and also
in the Eclipse log (Help > About Eclipse SDK > Configuration Details >
View Error Log).

If you find any info that may help solving the issue, please paste it
here.

[Bug 78165] debuild fails to use seahorse-agent

2007-01-06 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: devscripts

Using the latest Feisty. I installed seahorse not to enter gpg key
password every time. It works ok with gpg --sign but fails with debuild
with the following error:

debsign: gpg error occurred! Aborting
debuild: fatal error at line 1155:

It does not remember the password moreover I am unable to enter the

[Bug 72211] Eclipse in Edgy, dependency problems

2006-11-17 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Public bug reported:

There are currently at least two dep. problems in Eclipse in Edgy.

1) Eclipse does not depend on (firefox | mozilla-browser) although it
fails to start without it.

2) apt-get install eclipse on new install of Edgy. Now, running of
Eclipse fails because it does not find usable jvm. It should be
installed as a dependency, however it is not, because gij-4.1 (providing
java2-runtime) is already installed and is not enough for running
Eclipse.

[Bug 70460] Caldav support missing

2006-11-05 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Public bug reported:

In my opinion the Caldav support in Evolution is missing. I tried to
connect to a remote Caldav calendar hosted on the Cosmo server and it
did not work.

So I looked in the source package and all that I found was a
configuration dialog for Caldav. Maybe I looked at wrong places, but if
it is really missing, it would be better to remove this configuration
dialog as well not to give feeling that it does not work.

Public bug reported:

There is a configuration dialog in Evolution to choose the publishing
URI and frequency. The frequency choices are "Daily, Weekly, Manually".
It would be nice to have better control over the publishing.

First, there could be a field for entering number of minutes (hours)

Second, there could be option to auto-publish marked calendar after a
saved change.

[Bug 68623] Re: pydev dependencies

2006-11-02 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
The problem is in the eclipse dependencies. eclipse-platform depends on
java-gcj-compat | java-runtime1 | java-runtime2. Anyone of these should
yield jvm for eclipse. However, gij-4.1 installed on default Edgy
provides java-runtime1, but does not suffice to run eclipse.

We are working on some fix.

Could you please look, which installed package provides java run-time so
that eclipse-platform does not install java-gcj-compat?

You can get Eclipse and Pydev running by installing mentioned java-gcj-

this most likely.

I do not have exactly fresh 6.10, but if I try it with edgy chroot, it tries

Please, could you try installing eclipse-platform alone? This one should
depend on java-gcj-compat, that yields java interpreter.

Yes, you are right, there is already a newer version of Pydev. However,
it depends on Eclipse 3.2 that is not yet ready for Ubuntu. We have to
wait for it a bit. Thanks for your interest in this package.

[Bug 62919] Re: an option to do autoremove for ordinary remove

2006-09-29 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Thanks for your hint. It made me to look around a bit, so I discovered
that there is also an option --auto-remove. The apt.conf you showed is
better for me, however.

Regarding the documentation, please have a look at the following diff,
if it can be used to document this nice feature in man.

It would be useful to have an option to say that I want to do autoremove

do it in 2 steps: remove, autoremove. (Unless I miss something,
documentation does not mention autoremove at all).

[Bug 58885] calendar uses wrong timezone

2006-09-04 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Public bug reported:

I have the following problem on current Dapper. If I get a meeting
invitation, it is correctly parsed and shows the right time in the Mail
view. If I accept it, it gets copied to the calendar. However, the time
of the meetting in the calendar is wrong, in my case -6 hours.

You can see the behaviour by

1) Setting the timezone of the system to Europe/Prague.
2) Importing the attached file (File>Import).
3) Now, you can see correct time in the mail view, which should be 11:30 AM -
1:00 PM.
4) Accept it without sending a reply.
5) If you look to the calendar, you can see the meeting there but from 4:30 AM.

[Bug 58075] Freezes when adding LPD net printer on 64 bit

2006-08-29 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Public bug reported:

Running the latest Dapper on Sempron 64, the gnome-cups-add dialog
freezes when I try to add new network printer using the LPD protocol.
The printer is reachable if I use plain cups config. Steps to recreate:

1) System > Administration > Printing
2) New Printer
3) Network Printer > LPD
4) hostname, queue
5) Forward

Now the dialog freezes and the only way out is "Force Quit".

[Bug 49860] Does not suspend right after resume

2006-06-15 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I am using the latest Ubuntu Dapper. If I suspend my laptop by closing
the lid and resume it with reopening the lid I get the lock-screen
dialog. Now, if I try to suspend it again without unlocking, it fails.

Note that if I do not suspend and resume but instead lock my laptop
manually, it is suspended correctly.
