[Bug 1660621] [NEW] "Continue" button is grayed out after Language step during installation

2017-01-31 Thread Volkan Gezer
Public bug reported:

If there is disk space less than 8,7 GB, the installer just displays an
icon without a message and the continue button is grayed out. I found
out the solution on AskUbuntu: http://askubuntu.com/q/295059

The issue is explained here very well: http://askubuntu.com/a/873236

Copying here:

I also had this problem installing Kubuntu 16.10 in VirtualBox. Unlike shao.lo,
for me dynamic vs. fixed .vdi didn't matter. For me the problem was that the
virtual disk was too small, but the installer doesn't give any useful error
report about this. There is an icon on the screen indicating the issue, but
it's so abstracted as to be meaningless: it looks like a trashcan with a line
through it, with no accompanying explanation. (If the disk is adequate it will
be a checkbox.) I created a new VDI of appropriate size (>8.6GB, apparently)
and it worked.

I was only able to discover this by running "ubiquity -d" from a
terminal and examining the output in /var/log/installer/debug.

[Bug 1420906] [NEW] Akregator has outdated RSS Links

2015-02-11 Thread Volkan Gezer
Public bug reported:

Reported to KDE, but was told to report downstream:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=343939

Akregator currently includes Kubuntu Hungary and Kubuntu Spain RSSes
which do not exist anymore and gives 404.

It will be better if we could simply remove them.

Another approach will be asking on KDE Forums/Mailinglists or creating a
poll to include default RSSes on Akregator.

Thanks,

[Bug 1419368] [NEW] Ubiquity is not completely localized

2015-02-07 Thread Volkan Gezer
Public bug reported:

If you select another language (which is 100% complete), partition
messages are displayed in English. However, if you go back and choose
English, then those messages are displayed in the correct language while
the rest stays English. Please see the screenshot.

1) The language is chosen as Turkish
2) Then after disk setup page (some translations were in English in this page),
went back to choose English
3) All messages are changed to English except the English ones in Disk Setup
page are now Turkish.

Tested with Kubuntu 15.04 Alpha 2 image.

[Bug 1305237] [NEW] 100% I/O usage due to jbd2

2014-04-09 Thread Volkan Gezer
Public bug reported:

I have 14.04 Beta 2 64-bit and Intel i7 Processor with 2.2Ghz clock, 4 GB RAM
and 500 GB Harddrive.

After using Ubuntu for some time, everything goes so slow and I cannot
even move my USB mouse cursor, but only touchpad. Not possible to open
even a terminal window.

Here is the iotop output:

http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/7227394/

Also the cpu usage is around 3% only by chromium.

I unmounted all ntfs disks (I even don't have sda8), but the problem is
the same.

[Bug 568611] Re: Screen brightness control fails on Dell Studio 1558

2013-07-28 Thread Volkan Gezer
Hello,

I am using 3.8.0.26 on Kubuntu 13.04 (KDE) Samsung Laptop and currently
using acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor to enable backlight
control. Whenever I log off, the controls are disabled again and I need
to run intel_backlight. Another problem is power profiling. Whatever I
set dimming and/or backlight off durations. It automatically turns it
off in 5 minutes (even I totally disable it).

Do you have any idea why the problem is still not solved?

[Bug 1156229] [NEW] Backlight cannot be controlled after logging out and relogin

2013-03-17 Thread Volkan Gezer
Public bug reported:

I am using Version 12.10 and Samsung 300V5A laptop.

The brightness could not be changed until I modify grub setting from
/etc/default/grub and modifying the line as follows:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash acpi_osi=Linux
acpi_backlight=vendor

Now it works, but when I need to logout and login again, it cannot be
controlled again.

The only solution was restarting...

Then I found intel-gpu-tools. Now without restarting I can write sudo
intel_backlight 100 and it increases the brightness again.

Do you know why it works at first boot, but not after logout relogin?
Typing the command above in every 10 minutes after leaving computer
alone is so annoying.

Thanks.

[Bug 1153381] [NEW] Backlight cannot be controlled after logging out and relogin

2013-03-10 Thread Volkan Gezer
Public bug reported:

I am using Version 12.10 and Samsung 300V5A laptop.

The brightness could not be changed until I modify grub setting from
/etc/default/grub and modifying the line as follows:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash acpi_osi=Linux
acpi_backlight=vendor

Thanks.

[Bug 1126525] [NEW] Ubiquity does not see Windows installation

2013-02-15 Thread Volkan Gezer
Public bug reported:

I have Samsung NP300V5A with Windows 7 installed. I wanted to install
Kubuntu alongside Windows 7, but noticed that Ubiquity does not see my
Windows installation and would like to install itself into my all disk
(Please see screenshot here
http://s3.postimage.org/yr10wn25t/IMG_20130207_203301.jpg).

The suggestion was disabling UEFI in BIOS, but this was already
disabled. I also created a partition for Kubuntu (approx. 20gb), but
this also did not solve the problem.

I asked on kubuntu-devel mailing list, but would like to report is as a bug to
be checked.
I asked to askubuntu.com and got a reply to install Ubuntu and then installing
Kubuntu desktop, or using WUBI. But maybe this is a hardware problem.

Last week, I tried the same thing with Ubuntu and ... It saw my Windows
7 installation and asked me if I would like to install it alongide...

If you need, I can download new alphas to test on my laptop.
