I can confirm the same problem on one of my desktops (after the some support for packages ended dialog, the update-manager freezes). This might have been specific to the proprietary nVidia drivers. This bug originally occurred on a ThinkPad G41 (with a GeForce 5200 I think). Having the same problem with Feisty and a RAZR. I can see the phone with hcitool.
