[Bug 2083922] [NEW] Touchpad freezes on Acer Aspire E5
Public bug reported: After the touchpad froze again I ran journalctl -b0 and copied the interesting section to journalctl_-b0_excerpt.log. This is probably the main error log for this bug. Attached are also the outputs of lsb_release -rd > lsb_release_-rd cat /proc/version_signature > version.log sudo lspci -vnvn > lspci-vnvn.log apt-cache policy linux-image-6.8.0-45-generic uname -a > uname_-a sudo dmidecode > dmidecode.txt What I expected to happen: Normal use of the touchpad including tapping (clicking), moving cursor, scrolling, zooming. What happened instead: My touchpad freezes after some time (sometimes it is frozen directly after restart, sometimes after a few hours). I am not ables to move the cursor or do multi touch actions with the touchpad. If I hold down one finger on the pad it act as though I was repeatedly left clicking. Additional notes: 1) The i2c Touchpad mode in my bios is set to advanced, otherwise scrolling and other action with two or more fingers don't work. 2) Booting with the kernel parameters in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingIRQProblems leads to no improvements. I'm happy to provide more debug info and logs. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: kernel-bug ** Attachment added: "Attachments.tar" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083922/+attachment/5825913/+files/Attachments.tar -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083922 Title: Touchpad freezes on Acer Aspire E5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2083922/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2066275] Re: [SRU] Fix black screen on second boot due to video drivers not being ready.
Can confirm that version 0.20.0-2ubuntu4.2 of sddm fixes this issue on my fresh Kubuntu install (with xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu, Radeon RX 6600 XT). Thanks for your work on this! I spent the better part of a day searching for the cause since the logs contained no errors or warnings. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2066275 Title: [SRU] Fix black screen on second boot due to video drivers not being ready. [Bug 1961305] [NEW] Cannot boot into Xen dom0
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS Release:20.04 The linux-generic-hwe-20.04 5.13 Kernels are compiled with #CONFIG_KERNEL_GZIP is not set CONFIG_KERNEL_ZSTD=y preventing Xen 4.13.x / 4.14.x from booting into Dom0. After compiling the kernel by myself using CONFIG_KERNEL_GZIP=y #CONFIG_KERNEL_ZSTD is not set it works as expected. Kernel boots and Xen is working as intended. Confirmed to be an issue of semantics, standards, and differences between "how things intuitively should be" and "how things are" :) On the concrete side, solution confirmed to be easier done by Bumblebee devs, and action will be taken asap. Thanks for everybody for this brainstorming, in the end that's what fixes bugs. So only Lucid is concerned with a driver older than 260 currently, however this release doesn't any other flavour of nvidia driver (no -updates version). I will remove version dependency on newer release, and only let this for Lucid. [Bug 1085044] Re: nvidia-experimental-310 does not provide nvidia-current
** Description changed: Installing nvidia-experimental-310 causes bumblebee to uninstall, as bumblebee depends on nvidia-current. However, logically, nvidia- experimental-310, being an updated, newer version of the driver, essentially containing all the previous / existing features, should provide nvidia-current, and hence nvidia-experimental-310 should satisfy the requirements of bumblebee similarly as nvidia-current. - - This causes a major issue with laptops using Optimus technology; it restricts the users to nvidia-current, allowing no testing of the more up-to-date drivers with improved performance. + This causes a major issue with laptops using Optimus technology; it + restricts the users to nvidia-current, allowing no testing of the more + up-to-date drivers with improved performance. What should happen: User is able to install and use updated, even if experimental, nvidia drivers on a laptop with Optimus What happens: Installing nvidia-experimental-310 causes bumblebee to uninstall, and hence on boot-up no nvidia card is detected as there is no bumblebee kernel module to turn it on. + + EDIT: + With further inspection, as shown below (see full texts), it seems that the package nvidia-experimental-310 *does* provide nvidia-current. HOWEVER, it also *conflicts* with that package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085044 Title: nvidia-experimental-310 does not provide nvidia-current To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-experimental-310/+bug/1085044/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1085044] [NEW] nvidia-experimental-310 does not provide nvidia-current
Public bug reported: Installing nvidia-experimental-310 causes bumblebee to uninstall, as bumblebee depends on nvidia-current. However, logically, nvidia- experimental-310, being an updated, newer version of the driver, essentially containing all the previous / existing features, should provide nvidia-current, and hence nvidia-experimental-310 should satisfy the requirements of bumblebee similarly as nvidia-current. This causes a major issue with laptops using Optimus technology; it restricts the users to nvidia-current, allowing no testing of the more up-to-date drivers with improved performance. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-experimental-310 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085044 Title: nvidia-experimental-310 does not provide nvidia-current To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-experimental-310/+bug/1085044/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I repeated testing using kernel 3.3.0 RC4, and results are similar: nvapeek (before): e100: 001c1100 e28c: 0100 e104: 72267640 0441474b e280: 4747 After: e100: 001c1100 e28c: 0100 e104: 72267240 0441474b e280: 4747 Compared to the previous version, the only change is that 0x1000 was added to 0xe104 (and 0x400 is still unset on resume). And, of course, brightness controls ceased to response after resuming. [Bug 921321]
There should be a solution to this dilemma, considering that nvidia's binary blob does it correctly. I got the nvapeek results for using the binary blob, and the results I got are: Before e100: 001c1100 e28c: 0100 e104: 72266640 0441474b e280: 4747 After e100: 001c1100 e28c: 0100 e104: 72266640 0441474b e280: 4747 Notice that unlike nouveau, register 0xe104's content is unaltered after resuming. What is this particular register for? The vbios before suspending is identical between nouveau and nvidia, and it is also identical to the one after resuming with nvidia. However, nvgetbios fails with nouveau after resuming: ./nvagetbios > vbios.txt No extraction method specified (using -s extraction_method). Defaulting to PRAMIN. Attempt to extract the vbios from card 0 (nv96) using PRAMIN Invalid signature(0x55aa). You may want to try another retrieval method. Is this a sign that the vbios is somehow wrong/corrupted after resume? Note that I am also using a Elitebook 8530W, with an nVidia Corporation G96M [Quadro FX 770M] card, using Linux 3.1.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/921321 Title: nouveau: dark screen after suspend/resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nouveau/+bug/921321/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 740893] Re: Kernel 2.6.38-7 completely dims screen on Intel GMA 4500M
fine to be here. I just wanted to say about this issue and ask the kernel developers to not set the brightness to FF without being sure that this would be the right setting in order to gain a maximum brightness of the backlight of the screen. Well, then. You might get a scrpt that is working after installation and get a hint how to perform the installation itself. Shortly, you'll be able to control the brightness of the backlight of your screen. But you will not be able to play fullscreen games like tuxracer. And, it will be hard to install the system without seeing anything on your screen. The solution given at http://www.markuswalther.com/tech/backlight.html ia only partial, installation and games like tuxracer will stay in the dark. However, if you used an external monitor for installation, and used sbrinst from the archive on this page, you'll be able to control the backlight setting of your screen. But, that is not what I wanted. I'd rather liked the kernel programmers to know that brightness settings with Intel GMA 4500M chipsets may differ completely and tell this the distibutioon managers. Did I fail and have to go something else? [Bug 600158] Re: After upgrading to firefox 3.6 java plugin and flash plugin do not work
I can also confirm these issues. The flash 9.x plug-in was still listed at about:plug-ins, but did not work at all (but I got no "crashed" note). I got Flash working by performing these steps: 1. Purged every flash related package (*flash*, *gnash*, ...) 2. Cleaned manually all remains (find /usr/lib/ -name flashplugin-alternative.so | xargs sudo rm) 3. Cleaned my ~/.mozilla/plugin/ directory. 4. Installed fresh Flash 10 .deb from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ The Java issue remains. The plug-ins are not listed at about:plugins I even reinstalled sun-java6-plugin and the files seem to be installed correctly: # find /usr/lib/ -name '*java*so' /usr/lib/xulrunner/plugins/libjavaplugin.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so /usr/lib/kde3/kjavaappletviewer.so /usr/lib/midbrowser/plugins/libjavaplugin.so /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/libjavaplugin.so /usr/lib/iceape/plugins/libjavaplugin.so /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20/jre/lib/i386/libjavaplugin_nscp_gcc29.so /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20/jre/lib/i386/libjava_crw_demo.so /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20/jre/lib/i386/libjavaplugin_jni.so /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20/jre/lib/i386/libjavaplugin_nscp.so /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.20/jre/plugin/i386/ns7-gcc29/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins/libjavaplugin.so /usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins/libjavaplugin.so But Firefox does not recognize the plug-in. I made the patch against bzr trunk. The patch does not 'solve' the problem, but it makes usb-creator handle the situation like it should. Re: [Bug 147085] Re: audio delay in wengophone
Yes the older version works fine. I still had a tarball of wengo on my pc. [Bug 147085] Re: audio delay in wengophone
The output on the command line doesn't give any useful information. It sound like it keeps dropping little bits of audio too (and maybe it is trying to create a larger buffer to compensate?) I switched to an older version from www.openwengo.org because I really need it almost every day. -- audio delay in wengophone https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147085 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 147085] Re: audio delay in wengophone
I have a big delay too on a 32-bit system and it seems to be increasing over time. Tried disabling the video, but it didn't help. The other end was on a Windows system using 2.1.2. I'll run it from the command line tonight and see if the output has anything meaningful in it. -- audio delay in wengophone https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147085 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Some problem here with a linksys rt2500usb.
