[Bug 491648] Re: Meta tags inserted by avidemux interfere with totem playback
Kindly note that: 1. Some files with the meta tags do play fine under Totem. 2. The problem is restricted to Totem. The "corrupted" files do play well under mplayer or other players, which makes me wonder whether it's really a problem with Totem rather than avidemux. Yes, it does. I tried encoding some files with Lucid and the same thing occurred to some files. I am also sure that it has nothing to do with my hardware. [Bug 491648] Re: Meta tags inserted by avidemux interfere with totem playback
I've got second thoughts about this problem. It could be file contents other than the meta tags, as some files with the avidemux meta tags do play correctly under totem. When AtomicParsley inserts or removes tags, it actually creates a new file from the previous file. This process somehow removes what is corrupting the original video file. -- Meta tags inserted by avidemux interfere with totem playback https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491648 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 486314] Re: tar throws up error when extracting file
The problem is reproducible in my case, in the following way: 1. Download the truecrypt-6.3a-ubuntu-x64.tar.gz from http://www.truecrypt.org/downloads 2. Extract the file using file-roller (right-click and choose extract, or simply drag and drop onto any writeable directory). The problem isn't with the truecrypt file, really. One could try it on a self-made tar.gz file and it'd still throw up the same errors. Create an empty file and make a tar.gz archive out of it. Following that, attempt to extract it. The error window will pop up. >From my observations, only tar.gz files are affected. -- tar throws up error when extracting file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486314 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 491648] [NEW] Meta tags inserted by avidemux interfere with totem playback
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: avidemux This problem has existed ever since avidemux started inserting weird meta tags into encoded video files, i.e. many releases ago. They are as follows: chanwei...@raptor:~$ AtomicParsley "Evan Almighty.mp4" -t Atom "©nam" contains: Evan Almighty.mp4 Atom "©ART" contains: Avidemux Atom "©wrt" contains: Avidemux Atom "©too" contains: Lavf52.37.0 In some files (usually long-playing ones), totem simply does not display any video and audio becomes distorted. Playback is normal when using mplayer. Meta tags have to be stripped by AtomicParsley before the file can be played back normally. [Bug 183056] Re: Micro-Star MS-6575 (Version 3.1) Corrupts Hardy Heron Bootup Partition
Sorry for the late response. I have reason to believe that the board is faulty. The system threw up a blue screen of death when I tried to install Windows XP on it. Note that this mobo is supposed to be able to run Windows XP without a glitch. I swapped the ram, changed the graphics card, CPU...etc and the problem persisted. As such, I think that it is likely a case of a faulty motherboard. Why CentOS is capable of booting up on this system, I do not know, but I've just found out that even when running CentOS, it isn't very stable. I apologise for the trouble. [Bug 330824] Re: Soft lockups (freezes) when deleting files from ext4 partitions on 2.6.28
This sounds similar to a problem that I experienced yesterday. I did a fresh installation of Ubuntu 9.04 recently and formatted every partition to ext4. Yesterday, I was moving huge video files from my home directory to a removable USB hard disk (formatted to ext4 as well) when the system froze permanently (i.e. all hard disks stopped running completely). I did this with a couple of my other removable USB hard disks and the same thing happened many times. The problem can be replicated by copying or moving files within the same IDE hard disk as well. Just a while ago, the system froze when I emptied Trash. The computer has Windows XP installed, and no such problem problem occurs when I'm running it. However, as far as I know, I have not experienced any data loss. With reference to a few of the comments made above, I have more than 40Gb on every partition at any time, so the locking up seems unrelated to the amount of free hard disk space that one has. -- Soft lockups (freezes) when deleting files from ext4 partitions on 2.6.28 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330824 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
