[Bug 345754] Re: gvfsd-trash crashed with SIGSEGV in g_simple_async_result_complete()
I'm not sure if I'm having the same problem, but Nautilus crashes constantly when emptying the trash on Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit. There is no crash report but I do see something like this in my system log immediately after: kernel: [271660.316416] gvfsd-trash[26882]: segfault at 28 ip 00411e14 sp 7fffdc55c5c0 error 4 in gvfsd-trash[40+25000] kernel: [271683.371537] nautilus[26820]: segfault at 8 ip 005041ce sp 7fffdd025c60 error 4 in nautilus[40+1b3000] Oddly enough, once it happens the first time it doesn't happen again until after I've logged out and then logged back in. -- gvfsd-trash crashed with SIGSEGV in g_simple_async_result_complete() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345754 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 236232] Re: Admin. progs. hang before prompting for authentication
I just recently had this exact same problem with Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04). It had been working fine for months until today, when for some reason authentication through PolicyKit started failing and any apps that needed elevated privileges would just hang. Here's what I did to fix it: 1 - Open up the PolicyKit configuration file (gksudo gedit /etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf) 2 - Find this section: ...and change to (with "you" being your user name, not the word "you"). This will essentially give you root access to everything. Now open up System > Administration > Users and Groups and you'll notice that everything will be unlocked without you having to click the unlock button. While you're here, make sure your main group is admin - if not, change it. Close the Users and Groups window, then go back to PolicyKit.conf and remove your user name from the file (meaning it should just say again). Now if you open Users and Groups again, all the other user names should be grayed out, and the unlock should be active again. Click it and you should see the familiar authentication prompt asking for your password. -- Admin. progs. hang before prompting for authentication https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236232 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 395692] Re: Drag-and-Drop behavior in the menu editor is inconsistent and confusing
@Richard: I patched the file in /usr/share/pyshared/Alacarte and it works exactly as expected now. Thank you for your help, and hopefully the patch will make its way into the next release. -- Drag-and-Drop behavior in the menu editor is inconsistent and confusing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/395692 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 395692] Re: Drag-and-Drop behavior in the menu editor is inconsistent and confusing
@Richard: I must have done something wrong then because I'm still having the same problem in Jaunty 64-bit. I downloaded the source code for alacarte, moved the patch file into the source code folder, and applied the patch (patch -p0 < MenuEdit.patch). It said that the patch was successfully applied, so I compiled and installed it (./configure && make && sudo make install). After that I logged out, then logged back in and opened up the Menu Editor to test the patch. Is there something else I needed to do? -- Drag-and-Drop behavior in the menu editor is inconsistent and confusing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/395692 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 395692] Re: Drag-and-Drop behavior in the menu editor is inconsistent and confusing
@Richard: I like the immediate feedback that your patch adds to the menu editor. It's a definite improvement, but It doesn't really solve the problem of where the items get placed once you drop them. If you open the Menu Editor and drag an item up or down, you'll notice a black line that appears when you hover between any two items. The placement of the line implies that when you drop the item, it will be placed in between those other two items, but if you're dragging downward the item directly below gets pushed up and the item you were dragging is placed below the line. When you drag an item down, the item should be placed above the black line, not below it. Dragging an item up behaves as expected, though. I'm attaching an image that demonstrates what I'm talking about just to clear up any confusion. ** Attachment added: "alacarte_bug.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/29011836/alacarte_bug.png -- Drag-and-Drop behavior in the menu editor is inconsistent and confusing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/395692 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
