[Bug 1956213] Re: Lan6_Conf section is unknown to freeipmi
See the attached file where I used the PPA from Fantu with an updated version of freeipmi. The Lan6_Conf section is back as expected. And yes, this seems like a major regression to me. This all worked fine under Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and is suddenly removed when going to a newer LTS version. We depend on having this working. We have various tools which parse the output of 'ipmi-config' and record the IPv4 and IPv6 address of our IPMI en iDRAC systems this way. For us this is a breaking bug. ** Attachment added: "Commands output of free-ipmi upgrade" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freeipmi/+bug/1956213/+attachment/5557233/+files/lan6_conf.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956213 Title: Lan6_Conf section is unknown to freeipmi To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freeipmi/+bug/1956213/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I would love to test this with a PPA package on one of our systems. [Bug 410281] [NEW] Not able to set a per VM VNC password in the XML
Public bug reported: Hello, I am trying to give every VM one my host a different password for the VNC connections, but this doesn't work. According to the libvirt documentation this should be possible: http://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html#elementsGraphics "The passwd attribute provides a VNC password in clear text." A "virsh dumpxml" gives me: When i output this to a file and manually add the "passwd" attribute it gets lost when defining the VM again with "virsh define" and no VNC password is set. I am aware of the fact that i can set a VNC password in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf, but this password is the same for ALL the VM's. In our envirioment i have different system administrators for each VM so i need different VNC passwords for the VM's. Is this possible? When reading "man kvm-qemu" it is not possible to set a password with KVM: " "password" Require that password based authentication is used for client connections. The password must be set separately using the "change" command in the pcsys_monitor" Can somebody clearify this, is setting a VNC per VM possible? ** Affects: libvirt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Not able to set a per VM VNC password in the XML https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410281 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 376451] [NEW] Network hickups to domU's when running a lot of domU's
Public bug reported: Hello, I have two systems with the following specifications: - 2x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5420 - 64GB DDR2 FB-DIMM - 2x Intel 80003ES2LAN - SuperMicro X7DB8 mainboard - Areca ARC-1680ix-16 RAID Controller On these machine's in run Ubuntu 8.0.4.2 with Xen 3.2 The kernel has been customized to raise the number of NR_DYNIRQS, please refer to my other bug report (#341846) Now i have tackled that problem but now i am starting to have issues with network connectivity for existing domU's. They run fine, but for no good reason they loose their network for about 2 minutes at the time while the dom0 works fine. I have attached some data about the system (like xm list, xm dmesg, lspci, etc, etc) Like i said, i have two systems, on with about 100 domU's (system A) and the other with 10 domU's (system B). They are both 100% identical in software and hardware, but only the domU's on the system with 100 domU's are experiencing these problems. On system A i found the following messages when running "xm dmesg" (XEN) printk: 271 messages suppressed. (XEN) grant_table.c:1262:d0 Bad flags (0) or dom (0). (expected dom 0) After some Googling i found old messages about a issue in the Xen grant table, but no real solution. Now one of the interesting things is the messages i found inside a domU: [135111.985303] netfront: rx->offset: 0, size: 4294967295 [135111.985330] netfront: rx->offset: 0, size: 4294967295 [135111.985337] netfront: rx->offset: 0, size: 4294967295 This indicates something goes wrong inside netfront.c, but for this i also found some reports, but no real solutions. System B is not running a lot of domU's at the moment, but i think these problems will also rise on that system as soon as it hits some kind of barrier. I hope somebody has a clue what is going on. ** Affects: xen-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: e1000 netfront xen -- Network hickups to domU's when running a lot of domU's https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/376451 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have been able to reproduce the bug and found out what goes wrong. After creating 79 VM's with all 2 vbd (root disk and swap) and one vif i ran into the problem again. One error caught my attention (and is only mentioned once!): [ 628.040958] No available IRQ to bind to: increase NR_DYNIRQS. When you have a VM with 3 "devices" (in my case 2x vbd, 1x vif) you reserve 3 Dynamic IRQ's per domU. 79 * 3 = 237 IRQ's The default limit of 256 is reached since the dom0 also reserves some IRQ's. You can find out how many IRQ's you are using with: grep Dynamic-irq /proc/interrupts |wc -l I have now been able to address over 256 IRQ's and start 90 VM's without any troubles. I think Ubuntu should raise the limit from 256 to 512 or 1024 OR make it a option wich can be passed to the kernel on boot (like suggested in the RedHat bugreport) -- No network connectivity for new domU's (No available IRQ to bind to: increase NR_DYNIRQS) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/341846 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I tried the Gutsy kernel for my domU. Hi chuck, That works, the targets builds correctly... But i was wondering, why is the iscsi_trgt module also supplied in linux-ubuntu-modules? The module supplied by this package is loaded instead of the module build by iscsitarget-source, wich leaves you with a non-working iSCSI Target. [Bug 208281] Re: iscsitarget will not compile
Ok, i figured it out! In the package "linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-14-server" the iscsi_trgt.ko module is also shipped, but this one is broken. When you remove the directory "/lib/modules/2.6.24-14-server/ubuntu/block/iscsitarget" en run "depmod -ae" you can compile the iscsi_trgt.ko module like i described above. This will place the module in "/lib/modules/2.6.24-14-server/kernel/drivers/iscsi" after wich you can start the IET software. Now the files "/proc/net/iet/volume" and "/proc/net/iet/session" will be created and the IET server will run as expected. But i am wondering: - Why is the iscsi_trgt.ko module shipped in linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-14-server and also available to be compiled from source? - For DRBD you can only install the utils, but the kernel module is already pre-compiled by Ubuntu. Why is this done this way, a matter of miscommunication? -- iscsitarget will not compile https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/208281 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 208281] Re: iscsitarget will not compile
I got it working under Hardy by downloading the newest source from the IET website. I extracted iscsitarget.tar.bz2 in /usr/src and replaced the "kernel" and "include" directory with the directories in the latest version from the IET website. This is how i did it: apt-get install iscsitarget-source cd /usr/src wget http://dfn.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/iscsitarget/iscsitarget-0.4.16.tar.gz tar -xzf iscsitarget-0.4.16.tar.gz tar -xjf iscsitarget.tar.bz2 cd modules/iscsitarget/ rm -r include/ kernel/ cp -a /usr/src/iscsitarget-0.4.16/kernel . cp -a /usr/src/iscsitarget-0.4.16/include . cd /usr/src tar -cjf iscsitarget.tar.bz2 modules m-a a-i iscsitarget I know this is not THE best way, since i download a new version of IET, but it fixes it for me.
