I fixed this for myself by adding ## PulseAudio as per the description on http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup#MPD audio_output { type"pulse" name"My MPD PulseAudio Output" #server "localhost" # optional #sink"alsa_output" # optional } to my configuration.
