[Bug 1591411] Re: systemd-logind must be restarted every ~1000 SSH logins to prevent a ~25 second delay

2017-10-29 Thread William Van Hevelingen
This bug does not appear to be resolved on Xenial as we are seeing scope
file leakage causing systemctl to hang.

We are running the version of dbus that contains the fix

# dpkg -s dbus | grep Version
Version: 1.10.6-1ubuntu3.3

[Bug 1124250] Re: Partially incorrect uid mapping with nfs4/idmapd/ldap-auth

2014-09-19 Thread William Van Hevelingen
Here's an example of a broken machine with the increased maxkeys and
maxbytes. It doesn't look different to me from the one in #19.

# cat /proc/key-users
0:23 22/22 16/1 322/20
11254: 5 5/5 5/1 49/20

We also tried installing the 3.16.3-031603-generic #201409171435 kernel
and rebooting but the issue is still persistant.

[Bug 1124250] Re: Partially incorrect uid mapping with nfs4/idmapd/ldap-auth

2014-09-15 Thread William Van Hevelingen
Hi Dariusz,

chicken:~# cat /proc/key-users
0:32 31/31 25/1 537/20
 3404: 4 4/4 4/200 38/2
11254: 3 3/3 3/200 39/2

I'm seeing the issue on both of the latest kernels 3.13.0.36.43 and
3.13.0.35.42

Increasing the values maxkeys and maxbytes and rebooting seems to have
worked. I'll let you know if the systems change their mind.

After upgrading from Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu 14.04 we began seeing 10-15%

[Bug 1344430] [NEW] 10-15% iowait on kvm instances on Ubuntu 14.04

2014-07-18 Thread William Van Hevelingen
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu 14.04 we began seeing 10-15%
iowait on kvm guests. The guests had little to no load and yet the
shell was laggy and commands took forever to respond (assuming you could
even type them)

# uname -a
Linux kvm-andromeda 3.13.0-29-generic #53-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 4 21:00:20 UTC
2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

# kvm --version
QEMU emulator version 2.0.0 (Debian 2.0.0+dfsg-2ubuntu1.1), Copyright (c)
2003-2008 Fabrice Bellard

I posted to Ubuntu Server and they suggested that I upgrade my kernel
version.

Relevant Mailing List discussion:

https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-server/2014-July/006925.html

After installing a 3.14 kernel the performance returned to normal.

I can boot into the old kernel and run apport-collect if you need that
as well.

[Bug 1275148] [NEW] MOD_AUTH_CAS: Could not perform SSL handshake with sso.example.edu (check CASCertificatePath)

2014-01-31 Thread William Van Hevelingen
Public bug reported:

The packaged version, Version: 1.0.8-3build1 has a bug where it doesn't work
properly with chained certs.

The error message in the Apache logs is:

MOD_AUTH_CAS: Could not perform SSL handshake with sso.example.edu
(check CASCertificatePath)

It seems to be fixed in the upstream version, I installed the master
branch and it started working.

https://github.com/Jasig/mod_auth_cas

Relevant Apache config variables:

CASCookiePath /var/cache/apache2/mod_auth_cas/
CASLoginURL https://sso.example.edu/cas/login
CASValidateURL https://sso.example.edu/cas/serviceValidate

 Location /
Authtype CAS
require valid-user

[Bug 1188793] [NEW] virt-viewer has GTK error on connection to remote

2013-06-07 Thread William Van Hevelingen
Public bug reported:

Already fixed in upstream and saucy. I think it be worth a SRU for
raring.

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=696435

[Impact]

 * Prevents administrators from managing their virtual machines on
remote hosts

[Test Case]

 * Try to connect to a machine over qemu+ssh with the following command
(replace hypervisorname and instancename) with whatever you chose at
creation time.

virt-viewer -c qemu+ssh://hypervisorname/system instancename

Example output:

blkperl@darkarchon:~$ virt-viewer -c qemu+ssh://stark/system sansa

(virt-viewer:6590): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type
VncDisplay to a container of type VirtViewerDisplayVnc, but the widget
is already inside a container of type VirtViewerDisplayVnc, please use
gtk_widget_reparent()

[Regression Potential]

 * minimal as it is already unusable

Ubuntu better. Could you please try to obtain a stacktrace by following
the instructions on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs#Hangs.2C_or_excessive_CPU_usage

Also, please answer these questions:
Is this hang reproducible? If so, which are the steps that lead to it?
Which flash package do you have installed?
Which Java package do you have installed?
Which Firefox extensions do you have installed?

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

[Bug 1001673] Re: unable to complete fresh install (grub)

2012-05-20 Thread William Van Hevelingen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thanks!
