[Bug 270846] Re: build of nvidia kernel module fails

2008-11-08 Thread willie
This is fixed for me now in the updated drivers from bug #251107 however
I think that better notification to the user when using the hardware
drivers manager that the install process failed would be beneficial, and
not to modify xorg.conf.

[Bug 347624] Re: No usplash with resume= parameter

2009-04-19 Thread willie boy
this is probably a problem with the swap uuid not being correct in
fstab and resume. the following fix worked for me:

open terminal and run code:
sudo blkid

then copy the swap uuid without the quotes
 run code:
gksu gedit /etc/fstab
paste the correct uuid into fstab (be sure it is the swap file uuid)
save and close gedit

then run code:
gksu gedit /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume
again, copy the correct swap uuid, save and close gedit

add the resume call if you dont have it in place

finally run code:
sudo update-initramfs -u

it should work when you reboot--at least it did for me

[Bug 357799] Re: Segfault in v4.3.9-9 with mod_dav_svn

2009-08-12 Thread Willie Gillespie
Doesn't have to be a directory served by mod_dav_svn. In my experience,
it can be any directory -- and it doesn't matter whether it is a plain
HTML file, or a PHP file it will be serving. I am (now) using 9.04
64-bit Desktop edition and seeing this error. The same configuration
file worked previously on the 8.04 LTS Desktop edition (still 64-bit).
Might be interesting to see what Apache2/auth_mysql versions changed
between those.

There seems to be a related or duplicate bug

that mentions the same fix depe links to above:

this is probably a problem with the swap uuid not being correct in

then copy the swap uuid without the quotes
 run code:

save and close gedit

then run code:
gksu gedit /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume
again, copy the correct swap uuid, save and close gedit

add the resume call if you dont have it in place

finally run code:
sudo update-initramfs -u

it should work when you reboot--at least it did for me

Doesn't have to be a directory served by mod_dav_svn. In my experience,
it can be any directory -- and it doesn't matter whether it is a plain
HTML file, or a PHP file it will be serving. I am (now) using 9.04
64-bit Desktop edition and seeing this error. The same configuration
file worked previously on the 8.04 LTS Desktop edition (still 64-bit).
Might be interesting to see what Apache2/auth_mysql versions changed
between those.

There seems to be a related or duplicate bug

that mentions the same fix depe links to above:

[Bug 293556] [NEW] Brasero doesn't recognize usb ARCHOS CDRW

2008-11-04 Thread Willie Pomales
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

I just upgraded from Ubuntu LTS 8.04 to Ubuntu Ibex 8.10 four days ago.
Brasero worked perfectly under Hardy Heron bu t not under Intrepid Ibex.
Below is the dmesg output:

The Brasero window does not recognize the drive, even when empty media
is on it. CD/DVD creator does recognize the drive but doesn't recognize
empty media on it.

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

[Bug 293970] [NEW] bonobo-activation-server : could not associate with desktop session

2008-11-04 Thread Willie Pomales
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bonobo

Fourth day of use of Ubuntu 8.10. Checking /var/log/messages observed:

Nov 5 01:06:44 cpu5 bonobo-activation-server (willie-6923): could not
associate with desktop session: Failed to connect to socket
/tmp/dbus-AGa5aGiVvG: Connection refused
Nov 5 01:06:49 cpu5 exiting on signal 15

No apparent derogation of system clock at the desktop, as reported on other
threads. I have noticed that window headers do change colors or lose
minimizing/maximazing buttons.

[Bug 347624] Re: No usplash with resume= parameter

2009-04-19 Thread willie boy
this is probably a problem with the swap uuid not being correct in
fstab and resume. the following fix worked for me:

open terminal and run code:
sudo blkid

then copy the swap uuid without the quotes
 run code:
gksu gedit /etc/fstab
paste the correct uuid into fstab (be sure it is the swap file uuid)
save and close gedit

then run code:
gksu gedit /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume
again, copy the correct swap uuid, save and close gedit

add the resume call if you dont have it in place

finally run code:
sudo update-initramfs -u

it should work when you reboot--at least it did for me
