[Bug 149972] Error dialog box OK button does nothing in Visual Effects.

2007-10-06 Thread Wrathernaut
Public bug reported:

My driver (ati restricted) doesn't have the composite extension, so when
I click anything but None in the visual effects, the error dialog:

The Composite extension is not available

pops up. The Ok button does nothing. Clicking the close window X is
the only way to make the window go away.

[Bug 89821] Re: Crash during Migrate Documents and Settings prevents installation from proceeding

2007-03-13 Thread Wrathernaut
Sorry for the lack of follow-up. I was able to install Kubuntu instead,
which didn't seem to try and run any migration assistant. It's running
so well (This is an Alpha release!?!?) that I don't want to mess around
with it.

And while there is an option to disable the migration assistant if you
run it from the shell, there was never a check box from the install icon
on the desktop, which surely will be the only option known for anyone
new to Ubuntu/Linux.

[Bug 89821] Crash during Migrate Documents and Settings prevents installation from proceeding

2007-03-05 Thread Wrathernaut
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

On Herd 5, with both i386 and AMD64 ISOs, after manually selecting
partition and moving forward, I am given notice that ubiquity has
crashed, the migrate documents and settings screen's text-box area stays
blank white, and back and forward buttons remain grayed out. I can
cancel installation and try again, but the same thing occurs every time.

I am using a Acer Ferrari 4005wlmi laptop, and have been able to install
Dapper and Edgy with no issues.

I used the send report feature on my laptop when the crash occurred.
