[Bug 825622] [NEW] Ubuntu MinGW package is not compatible with MinGW.org native compiler

2011-08-12 Thread Xiaofan Chen
Public bug reported:

Please refer to this discussion in the mingw.org mingw mailing list.

Basically MinGW.org's official native MinGW compiler and the Cygwin i686
-pc-ming32 cross compiler are built with --disable-sjlj-exceptions
whereas Debian/Ubuntu MinGW cross compilers are built with a default
option which is --enable-sjlj-exceptions. That is the case with MinGW
package inside Ubuntu 11.04. Therefore this will cause problems with C++
packages.

[Bug 776206] Re: libusb-dev usb.h not compatible with other distros

2011-05-03 Thread Xiaofan Chen
On the other hand, the Debian patch seems to be correct but libusb-0.1
is not maintained by upstream. Instead, the upstream maintains
libusb-1.0 and libusb-compat-0.1 which many other distros ship.

So this may not a bug for Debian/Ubuntu but it conflicts with other
distros shipping with original libusb-0.1 usb.h or libusb-compat-0.1.

Ludovic Rousseau has sent in patches to libusb mailing list. Hopefully
the libusb admins can accept this patch. In that case, this bug report
can be closed.

[Bug 776206] [NEW] libusb-dev usb.h not compatible with other distros

2011-05-03 Thread Xiaofan Chen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libusb-dev

Reference:
http://libusb.6.n5.nabble.com/OpenUSB-compilation-fails-on-Debian-because-of-fix-for-bug-473814-td4366614.html

Basically this is a Debian problem since it has the following patches in Debian
even though it is not accepted by upstream.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=473814

This patch is not adopted by non-Debian distros and thus causes problems
with programs like OpenUSB.

Great, thanks for letting me know. 0.83 fixed the HID descriptor
parsing bugs in 0.82, so this all makes sense.

And yes, sf.net doesn't have the latest versions, the last time I tried,
I couldn't add a new release there. I should just go take down the
downloads from there entirely soon.

thanks,

Just look at the lsusb -vvv output for the HID device in the following
pages and you will find quite similar "lsusb -vvv" output which contains
"** UNRECOGNIZED: 09 21 xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx". 09 21 is for HID Class

Subject: Re: "lsusb -vvv" returns "unrecognized" - why?

usbutils-0.82 has problem with its HID parser so it does not recognize HID

This only affect Ubuntu 9.10 as it comes with usbutils-0.82. Ubuntu 9.04 and

I am not so sure if "usbview is no longer maintained upstream" is really
correct or not.

According to the git tree, it is alive. usbview 1.1 has been released to
support gtk2 on March 2009.

[Bug 288964] [NEW] sudo does not work with unbinding usb interface from usbhid driver

2008-10-24 Thread Xiaofan Chen
Public bug reported:

I was looking for a way to dump the HID report descriptor under Linux.
For that purpose, I need to detach the kernel usbhid driver from the HID
interfaces.

More detail in libusb mailing list archive.

I think it is better to patch usbutils (lsusb) to remove the "-t"
