I second Yvo. Sound works neatly with the patch (#20) applied to alsa-
driver 1.0.21 on MBP 5.2

Also to be added, as mentioned in the comments in the code, the hp jack does
not produce any
output which means I can't listen to music without disturbing others. :(

[Bug 367399] Re: Dragging with touchpad on MacBook does not work

2009-11-12 Thread Yesudeep J Mangalapilly
Nevermind. I figured out a way to click and drag.

Enable tap-click.
Tap click with one finger and swipe/drag with another.

Also happened to notice that clicking with a finger and then dragging with four
fingers seems to
drag things around although not very comfortably.

Cheers.

[Bug 367399] Re: Dragging with touchpad on MacBook does not work

2009-11-11 Thread Yesudeep J Mangalapilly
I'm facing the same problem with my MacBook Pro 5.2 and the release version of
Ubuntu (Karmic) 9.10. Haven't yet found a solution to this problem.
The only workaround I have right now is to use a wireless mouse!

Cheers,
Yesudeep.

#14 (till)

Can you please document your entire installation procedure for those who
do have a MacBook Pro 5.2?

alsa-driver-1.0.21 seems to have the patch you mentioned applied
already.

[Bug 219892] Re: Unable to create shares

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 212098 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212098

I was facing the same problem however restarting the samba daemon did it
for me.

sudo invoke-rc.d samba restart

should fix it for most of you. If it still doesn't work, log out and log back
in. If it still
doesn't work, reboot.

Cheers,
Yesudeep.

[Bug 224264] [NEW] Installing tesseract-ocr should also install tesseract-ocr-eng

2008-04-29 Thread Yesudeep J Mangalapilly
Public bug reported:

Problem Description:
---
$ tesseract foo.tiff foo.text
Unable to load unicharset file /usr/share/tesseract-ocr/tessdata/eng.unicharset

When tesseract is called without specifying the language parameter, it defaults
to using English.
The tesseract-ocr package does not install the English language data by
default, which causes
tesseract-ocr to output this error message.

The file in question does not exist at this particular location.

Suggested Solution:
--
The tesseract-ocr package should include tesseract-ocr-eng as a dependency.

Sure. Before requesting this I had requested it in the official channels,
the developers
in which pointed me at this. I did not know about mudflap and ssp because
when I searched for bounds checking, the only results that turned up did
not include
information about mudflap and ssp.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Regards,
Yesudeep.

[Bug 122750] Enable -fbounds-check by including bounds-checking patch for gcc

2007-06-27 Thread Yesudeep J Mangalapilly
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcc-4.1

Memory access violations are common place. GCC could help benefit the world by
including the patch for bounds checking in official builds. This will help
developers catch problems early. Current GCC builds on Ubuntu do not have this
patch.
I request official or alternative builds that could possibly include this patch
for developers, thus encouraging better
software quality.
