[Bug 295458] Re: FF3 semi-crashes on back gesture with Mouse Gestures Redox 2.0.3

2008-12-10 Thread YoHell
Confirmed for 8.10 i386 with mouse gestures 2.0.3 and firefox 3.0.4.

On both my 64bit machines this works 100% ok, but not on my 32bit
machine.

Disabling mouse trails fixes the problem.

(Tools - Add-ons - Mouse Gestures Redox - Preferences - Visuals -
uncheck Enable mouse trails)

[Bug 184812] Re: [gutsy] gedit, terminal and/or eclipse hang temporarily at random intervals

2008-01-23 Thread YoHell
Update: This is probably not related to the nfs mounts, but rather the
nis authentication or having an nfs mounted home dir. When running two
gnome sessions in parallel, one locally authenticated (root) an the
other by nis, only the nis authenticated one is affected. Despite the
fact that both edit files on nfs mounted directories and having nfs
mounted working directories.

[Bug 184812] [gutsy] gedit, terminal and/or eclipse hang temporarily at random intervals

2008-01-21 Thread YoHell
Public bug reported:

Ever since I switched from Feisty to Gutsy some applications have
started hanging unexpectedly and temporarily at seemingly random
intervals. Primarily, it's gedit, the gnome terminal, and eclipse that
are affected.

I haven't been able to reliably reproduce this error to my tech guys at
work, but it occurrs several times a day. The applications are more
likely to hang when the computer has been left alone for a period of
time (~30mins) but it can also happen while I'm actively working, and
then most often when I'm swithing applications and/or workspaces. When
the hangs occur, the application becomes unresponsive and its gui is not
redrawn. After 5-120 seconds the application unfreezes and behaves
normally. Gedit will sometimes spit one or several error messeges at the
terminal at this time (of which I have kept none, sorry). I usually
start gedit from the terminal but I always start eclipse using a
launcher from the gnome panel. The applications do not necessarily hang
all at the same time, and no other components seem to be affected. I can
still browse the internet using firefox while the application is frozen,
list my nfs mounts (including my home directory), play music using xmms
and so on, but since 90% of my work is done using gedit, the terminal
and eclipse this issue is quickly becoming a nuisance for me.

These problems started after a dist-upgrade from feisty, and have
persisted even after a fresh install on another partition.

I use a dell optiplex 745 behind a firewall on a university network.
Authentication is done by nis (although we're currently moving to
kerberos) and home directories are assigned by ldap and mounted using
autofs. I also have manually configured nfs mounts in /etc/fstab.

Any help or suggestions on how to proceed in this matter is highly
appreciated.

Cheers!
/Joel

[Bug 38758] Re: keyboard navigation in message faulty

2006-11-07 Thread YoHell
I can confirm that turning off pango as described above also fixes the
issue for me.

Bug 38758 has a workaround that solved this problem for me:

[Bug 67757] Re: Thunderbird: Cursor goes to margin when pressing up/down while editing emails

2006-10-26 Thread YoHell
No other progs are exhibiting this behavior.

Hmm... come to think about it, I've noticed that gedit has started to
crash X every time I open a large file in it... These progs both use
gtk... Could it be related?

[Bug 67757] Thunderbird: Cursor goes to margin when pressing up/down while editing emails

2006-10-23 Thread YoHell
Public bug reported:

I have a problem which appears in mozilla thunderbird, but that I
believe is really located in some dependency that I haven't been able to
root out using Synaptic.

While writing emails in Mozilla Thunderbird, if i place the cursor in
the middle of any line and then press either the up or down key, the
cursor is not moved vertically directly to the next line, but to the
beginning of it or to the end of it. If I then press the opposing key,
the cursor is not moved back to the original position, but to the
beginning or the end of the original line.

People that are logged in to my computer remotely and running TB over an
SSH tunnel experience the same problem. If I ssh to some other machine
and use their TB together with my profile (other system not ubuntu, home
dir mounted over NFS), the problem is gone. But tunnling TB over SSH is
not an option for everyday use for me. No other progs are exhibiting
this behavior.

This problem just appeared one day a couple weeks ago, and hasn't gone
away since. It may have appeared after applying patches as usual using
the update manager. I really don't know what these patches were though,
so I don't expect that's much help for anyone...

Things I tried that didn't help:
* Changing to HTML or plain text format.
* Setting line wrap length for plain text to 0, 76 or 1000 chars.
* Restarting X between doing the above.
* Deleting my config (~/.mozilla-thunderbird/)
* Completely removing TB using Synaptic and then reinstalling it.
* Manually removing leftover files from Synaptic uninstallation.
* Synaptic force downgrade to TB v1.5.0.2
* Searching google for similar cases.
* Searching and posting at news.mozilla.org TB support group.

I'm using Ubuntulinux 6.06 and the latest TB (1.5.0.7). No TB plugins or
extensions.

I'm at my wits' end here. Can someone please help me!

Cheers!
/Joel Hedlund

I have also updated my entire system to bleeding edge using:
# apt-get update
# apt-get dist-upgrade

(as root) but no change.
