[Bug 2080454] Re: NIC(r8169) didn't link up after resuming from suspend

2024-09-23 Thread Atlas Yu
I found on this
machine(https://certification.canonical.com/hardware/202304-31462/)
which uses the same card RTL8168fp/RTL8117 (XID 54b, DASH: disabled), I
suppose this is a single hardware issue, but not 100% sure.

I also tested against several ThinkStation/ThinkCentre machines with
RTL8168fp/RTL8117 (XID 54a, DASH: disabled), they all works fine.

Test output for 202304-31462:

[Bug 2060268] Re: Phantom "Unknown Display" shown in Settings after installing the Nvidia driver

2024-08-30 Thread Bill Yu
@Daniel @Alessandro
Sorry for the pushing. Is that possible to clarify SRU team's concern on #74?
There are HP's commercial demands. Please see the impacted platform and bugs
listed below.

HP Z4 G5 cert with 24.04: https://warthogs.atlassian.net/browse/STELLA-58
HP Elite SFF 805 G9 with 22.04: https://bugs.launchpad.net/stella/+bug/2071758

If this fix can be reviewed OK and moved to proposed first by Sep-03,
that would be very helpful for the HP projects. Thank you.

[Bug 2064977] Re: new gnome-terminal instances launched from nautilus fail to receive automatic focus

2024-08-17 Thread Yu Yang Lin Hou
Same issue. If you "Open in Terminal" without typing anything, the new
terminal always gains focus. But the moment you type anything on one of
the terminals, subsequent terminals do not gain focus. Instead, you get
a notification at the top saying the terminal "is ready".

In fact, this issue has been around for ages now. Here's one ignored from
23.04, which documents it being around since 22.10 at least:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/2016182

It could be an issue with gnome, however Nemo does not exhibit this behaviour
and always opens the terminal in focus, so I suspect it's an issue with
Nautilus. One perhaps overkill method is to completely disable Gnome opening
stuff in background with `gnome-shell-extension-no-annoyance`
(https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1236/noannoyance/), however 24.04
appears to not be able to enable gnome shell extensions:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1522939/not-possible-to-enable-gnome-shell-extensions-in-ubuntu-24-04

A workaround I used since 21.04 is to run a devilspie2 script that grabs focus
of the terminal whenever one is opened.
```
if ( get_application_name() == 'Terminal' and get_window_name() == 'Terminal' )
then
focus_window();
end
```
Don't blindly use it tho. Every terminal opened will have focus. It didn't
matter to me, but it may affect you in unexpected ways. It's also unnecessary
as you are adding automation for something that you can stop using. Most people
would just switch to Nemo. Of the alternatives I've tested, the ones that
didn't work on 24.04 were:
- Dolphin: open in terminal does nothing
- Thunar: returns `failed to launch preferred application for category
TerminalEmulator`
- PCManFM: opens in background, just like Nautilus

[Bug 2077215] [NEW] Nautilus: focus lost when entering a directory with a single file/directory inside it

2024-08-16 Thread Yu Yang Lin Hou
Public bug reported:

When trying to navigate using the arrow keys, if you enter a directory
with a single file inside, focus is lost and you can no longer use the
arrow keys to select the contents of the directory. For example,
consider a directory structure: ~/directory/file. If you were to access
`directory` from home, you would no longer be able to use the arrow keys
to select `file`. Similarly if `file` were another directory. I'm using
Desktop Ubuntu 24.04 installed using the desktop Ubuntu ISO.

Hi Simon,

Thanks, I thought that the Mantic was out of support.

** Description changed:

  The modemmanager v1.20.0 doesn't have Quectel EM061K-GL/EM160/RM520N PID
information,
  and the modemmanger won't recognize these WWAN modems on some next-gen Lenovo
laptops.
  (lp: #2045276)

  [ Test Plan ]

  Under Jammy environment, with latest linux-oem kernel installed,
  check output of `mmcli -L` to see if the modems are properly recognized.

  Modems to check:
  - EM061K-GL
  - EM160

[Bug 2067240] [NEW] [SRU] Add Quectel EM061K-GL/EM160/RM520N PID information to support WWAN LVFS

2024-05-26 Thread Atlas Yu
Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

The modemmanager v1.20.0 doesn't have Quectel EM061K-GL/EM160/RM520N PID
information,
and the modemmanger won't recognize these WWAN modems on some next-gen Lenovo
laptops.
(lp: #2045276)

[ Test Plan ]

Under Jammy environment, with latest linux-oem kernel installed,
check output of `mmcli -L` to see if the modems are properly recognized.

Modems to check:
- EM061K-GL
- EM160
- EM160

[ Where problems could occur ]

EM160R-GL(1.22.0):
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mobile-broadband/ModemManager/-/merge_requests/1059/diffs

EM061K-GL(1.22.0):
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mobile-broadband/ModemManager/-/merge_requests/1057/diffs

RM520N-GL(1.22.0):
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mobile-broadband/ModemManager/-/merge_requests/1052/diffs
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mobile-broadband/ModemManager/-/merge_requests/1077/diffs

All these changes are merged, and they only introduce new PIDs for
initial supports, which do not affect existing ones.

Noble contains these changes, so, only SRU jammy.

[ Other Info ]

These patches are proved work with the test version on my PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~pseudoc/+archive/ubuntu/mercury

[Bug 2060727] Re: The keyboard does not work after latest kernel update

2024-04-25 Thread Atlas Yu
I tested linux-image-6.5.0-1021-oem on ThinkPad L15 Gen4 with 10 boots(20
suspends/resumes for each boot).
Cannot reproduce this bug anyway, considered fixed.

To: Aussems J.a.c. (ramcsir)
To: Ganton (ganton)

The SKU we hold here, rarely reproduces this issue on the previous
kernels, we would be much appreciated if you can help to verify the fix
as well according to #20 and #22.

Hi Robie and Lukas,

From our understanding, the concern is only related to Jammy, not focal.
Is that OK to change to fix released on focal.
This is one of the blocking issue for Stella Magneta platform.
We need your help to comment on this. Thank you.

[Bug 1959064] [NEW] [SRU][F] Add mt8183 SCP firmware

2022-01-25 Thread Hsuan-Yu Lin
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
No driver is loaded for scp firmware on the mt8183 platform, and fw is missing
too.

[Fix]
Add mt8183 SCP firmware

[Test]
Verified on the mt8183 platform, it can be loaded and powered up.

[Where problems could occur]
This firmware is specific for mt8183, it should be low risk.

The firmware is already in impish and jammy, only SRU fw for focal.

[Bug 1942366] [NEW] PrintScreen button unresponsive after trying to take a window screenshot of a notification

2021-09-01 Thread Yu Yang Lin Hou
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. trigger a notification pop-up (e.g. ``notify-send Date "`date`"``)
2. mouse over the notification to bring it into focus
3. press `Alt`+`PrintScreen` to attempt to take a screenshot of the window in
focus
4. nothing happens and the `PrintScreen` button becomes unresponsive

Nothing is logged and no crash reports are generated. The button simply
becomes unresponsive. Restarting Gnome (`Alt`+`F2` and typing
`r`restores the functionality of the `PrintScreen` button).

I am running Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS.

[Bug 1929902] Re: [EHL] enable USB-dw3

2021-08-17 Thread Hsuan-Yu Lin
Hi @chaoqin,

I can't find the device "8086:4b7e", I have also tried the mainline
kernel v5.14-rc6 but no luck.

I also tried to boot into the UEFI shell and use the 'pci' command to
list the devices, but still no luck. [1]

Do I need to enable some settings in BIOS so that I can see the device
"8086:4b7e"?
Thanks!

[Bug 1933741] [NEW] zmq.hpp claims to be 4.7.0 when it isn't

2021-06-26 Thread Yichao Yu
Public bug reported:

The zmq.hpp appears to be using a pre-released version of `zmq.hpp` that
has the version set to `4.7.0` while not containing all the features in
that version. In particular, this does not include
https://github.com/zeromq/cppzmq/commit/a3e5b54c3cad9dc1c4e86555e47365c2d3950e63.
Since the commit introduces a deprecation warning that recommends a new
feature introduced in the same commit, attempting to fix it using a
version check causes a compilation error on Ubuntu 20.04 due to missing
feature.

[Bug 1918427] [NEW] curtin: install flash-kernel in arm64 UEFI unexpected

2021-03-10 Thread Yu-Chiang Huang
Public bug reported:

I used APM Mustang which flash-kernel supported in u-boot mode.
But I used it with UEFI environment.
It will cause fatal error when I used ARM64 ubuntu live server ISO to install
system.

In code[1], this will not install `flash-kernel` for APM Mustang because of
UEFI.
So that means code[2] will not disable `flash-kernel` in target system, only
disable `update-initramfs`.

When curtin execute to `install_kernel` stage, code[3,4] will not install
`flash-kernel` either.
But in code[5], it will install `linux-generic`.
`linux-generic` has a long dependency tree and it will get `flash-kernel` in
Recommended field.
Apt by default will install Recommended package before kernel is installed.[6]
So it will still execute `zz-flash-kernel` and `flash-kernel` when installing
kernel.
But system didn't create any `initrd.img` ever because curtin disable
`update-initramfs` in code[2].
This will cause that `flash-kernel` cannot find `initrd.img.` and fail
when installing it.

This issue didn't effect all ARM64 UEFI platform because `flash-kernel` didn't
support them and skip.[7]
I'm not sure which is best solution for this.
But I think we should apply PR-27 in `flash-kernel`[8] for enhancement and fix
curtin process with this patch both.

If we only apply PR-27, it should work fine as well because it will be skipped
when detecting UEFI
and install `flash-kernel` before `disable_update_initranfs` in ARM platform
without UEFI.[9]

[Patch-1,2,3] might have side effect.
Picking one patch for curtin should be enough.
But I need your advice for this to determine which one is better for curtin.
There are two categories
1. avoid installing flash-kernel if no need, [Patch1,2]
2. always install flash-kernel in arm/arm64 and make sure it be installed
before code[2] [Patch3]
(I will attach patch in reply.)

Thanks a lot

[Bug 1890988] [NEW] Intel Ethernet Controller X7l0-AT2 can not be identified all ports in Ubuntu 20.04 (inbox driver i40e)

2020-08-09 Thread Jimmy Yu
Public bug reported:

[Ubuntu Version]

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

[Package Version]

http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages
release v=20.04,o=Ubuntu,a=focal,n=focal,l=Ubuntu,c=main,b=amd64

http://ppa.launchpad.net/hardware-certification/public/ubuntu focal/main amd64
Packages
release v=20.04,o=LP-PPA-hardware-certification-public,a=focal,n=focal,l=Public
PPA for Hardware Certification,c=main,b=amd64

[Expect Result]

Intel Ethernet Controller X710-AT2 all ports can be identified under
Ubuntu 20.04 via inbox driver i40e and workable normally.

[Symptom]

The Intel Ethernet Controller X710-AT2 has [Dual 10GBase-T and Dual 10G SFP+
LAN ports] but in Ubuntu 20.04 that cannot be identified all ports.
I want to execute hardware-certification and the system only can identify dual
10G SFP+ LAN ports via inbox driver i40e.

Please help clarify this issue or provide me solution
Thank you.

+ Medium, in order to support TGL platform, we also include two patches:

+ drm/i915/bios: add intel_bios_hdmi_level_shift()

+ drm/i915/dc3co: Avoid full modeset when EXITLINE needs to be changed

+ The two patches are not related to TGL, but for dependency.

[Bug 1881996] Re: Enable e1000e S0ix on Tiger Lake

2020-06-12 Thread Hsuan-Yu Lin
Discussion minutes from IRC #hwe (2020/06/12):

 15:37:35 khfeng: so, should the e1000e commits be rejected,
according to your comment on the bug?
 15:39:18 tjaalton, depends on kentlin_office. If we care about the
power consumption under s0ix, then probably should reject it
 15:40:02 ok, I'll drop it from the list for now
 15:40:27  tjaalton, khfeng, what commit
 15:41:05 kentlin_office, the one the prevents vPro systems from
entering s0ix
 15:42:10 khfeng, oh.. we care about S0ix...

[Bug 1879981] Re: touchpad does't work properly

2020-06-11 Thread Hsuan-Yu Lin
Hi, please try out using the different ways below:

* Disable secure boot and then boot v5.7-rc7 (or any latest kernel from
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline)

* Add boot command: i8042.reset i8042.nomux i8042.nopnp i8042.noloop
(Reference: https://askubuntu.com/questions/525629/touchpad-is-not-recognized)

* Install 5.6.0-1010-oem kernel:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install linux-modules-5.6.0-1010-oem linux-image-5.6.0-1010-oem
linux-headers-5.6.0-1010-oem

[Bug 1858231] Re: QCA6174 Wifi adapter not functional

2020-06-08 Thread Lambert Yu
I encountered the same error on Ubuntu 20.04 which uses v5.4.0-33
kernel, is there any plan to provide a fix to older kernels such as
v5.4? It seems that it would take long for Ubuntu 20.04 to upgrade to
the latest kernel.
