[Bug 1878780] [NEW] [PATCH] hddtemp reports drive name incorrectly
Public bug reported: hddtemp reports drive name incorrectly for some drives: $ sudo hddtemp /dev/sda /dev/sda: KINGSTON RBU-SC100S37128DG : 37°C Note extra spaces and garbage characters before colon. This is not only minor cosmetic issue, but breaks some gnome-shell plugins for HDD temperature reporting. I've tested with mainline kernel and it is crashes as well. Also I've tried booting previous Ubuntu releases (4.15.0-20-generic, 4.15.0-29-generic, 4.15.0-32-generic, 4.15.0-33-generic) and bug happens with all of them. This is strange because I've used these kernels without any problems for months. Wi-Fi worked extremely stable until problem recently appeared. So looks like bug was present for long time, however it have not manifested itself. But some non-kernel update uncovered it. Bug is pretty severe on my system, it happens in few minutes of active Wi-Fi usage (eg. open speedtest.net and run it for few times). If I do not use Wi-Fi at maximum speed it (eg. just listening online radio) it may work for hours. [Bug 1574324] Re: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?)
Guys, I have tried to install Joakim's debs in the past but it didn't work for me. I wanted to uninstall/purge the old once I installed and try it one more time from scratch using a new PPA. Since I relatively new to Ubuntu, can you recommend on how to properly do that without compromising the whole OS? sudo apt-get purge "all 7 packages one by one" Is this the preferred way? Since it's apt-get it will remove a lot of dependent packages. Is it safe to do? Will the PPA install them back if required? Can I purge all 7 packages with one command? Joakim, sure I removed and re-paired the device. I also tried it with 2 identical devices and the issue is reproducible for both of them. [Bug 1315434] Re: Mouse with no time remaining estimate showing in preference to battery being charged
+1 to support Matthew's comment. I'm using my laptop a lot and to avoid pain in my wrist, I'm using BT vertical mouse and the mouse battery status is important for me... Also, Ubuntu (more specifically user interface) is getting better and better, that now my wife, son (12 years old) and my MOTHER IN LAW are using it without big problems on their laptops. And I think that for them Matthew's idea will be more understandable and welcome. At the same time to support use case for heavily tech users, I would recommend adding a config file to override the default behaviour to allow setup of specific behaviours. In this case, from my personal opinion, Ubuntu/Linux can create the unique opportunities to serve needs of average/normal and heavily tech users. Matthew, thank you once again for your willing and efforts to make Ubuntu/Linux more user friendly, and hope you will not forget about tech users with their needs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1315434 Title: Mouse with no time remaining estimate showing in preference to battery being charged To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-power/+bug/1315434/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
