This bug is fixed in upstream version of Python (in 2.7.4): 
http://bugs.python.org/issue6056 (see bug description there for how to 
reproduce the bug)
Fix for that bug should be backported to 2.7.3 version in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 
repos.
