[Bug 1723577] Re: Artfull won't start with wayland activated

2017-10-14 Thread Yvon TANGUY
Hi

I have the same problem, or at least the same consequences.

Maybe related to #1723602 ?

I no longer have an Radeon HD 6850 (since 2 weeks ^^), but an RX 560.

I tried weston a little bit to know if it was a wayland problem, but
weston works fine. I can launch some GTK apps on weston (gedit, nautilus
...), Firefox & Libreoffice don't run, even with xwayland.so module
activated.

It's just that gnome-shell (or gdm) don't display anything. The screen
stay at is at the moment it launched.

[Bug 1413947] [NEW] Official kernel.org 3.18.3 (custom config) : virtualbox-dkms 4.3.10-dfsg-1ubuntu1: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

2015-01-23 Thread Yvon TANGUY
Public bug reported:

Maybe for kernel = 3.17, the file vboxnetadp/linux/VBoxNetAdp-linux.c need
also one patch.
In the previous version of the VBox package I also patch the file
r0drv/linux/alloc-r0drv-linux.c
See patchs attachments.

Note: I have done theses patch to make VBox working, I'm not an expert in the
Linux kernel, nor VirtualBox code!
Since the kernel 3.7.0-rc3 was out, I ran VirtualBox with no problem.
Currently tested Linux kernel: 3.18.3.

So the problem is almost fixed upstream, but not completely.

Basically, the resume work, but a kernel thread (kworker) is eating 100% of 1
CPU core.
Time to time, it stop working for, something like less than 1s. I was able to
launch htop under an X terminal, to see that.
The time this worker thread work, is not constant, something between 10s to
2min. During this time X freeze completely, and all others programs with it.
During the clean reboot ('sudo reboot in my X terminal), it happend too. The
events are still monitored during that time. Even if the screen was frozen, I
could type on the keybord or move the mouse. Just have to wait the worker
thread to let others programs to work a little.

I tried to look at the logs, but I didn't found any evidence which may permit
me to better know what was going on.
The only error in /var/log/pm-suspend.log is:

Running hook /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/60_wpa_supplicant resume suspend:
Failed to connect to non-global ctrl_ifname: (null) error: No such file or
directory
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/60_wpa_supplicant resume suspend: success.

I don't know if it is related.

You may notice that I have an another bug on this laptop. I can't use
the proprietary WiFi driver (which is installed by default). This driver
(firmware ? crashed with an invalid instruction error. It seems to not
be compatible with an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55
(on GNU/Linux only, I tried Win8.1 on this laptop, the driver worked
fine). That is why, I only use the ethernet connexion, with the FOSS
driver. Again, I don't know if this information can help too.

I will retry with the stock kernel, maybe it's the same, I just didn't
wait 2min before performing a halt/boot. There is no hardware reset on
laptops :-(

Thank you.

[Bug 986524] Re: 1002:6739 [Asus P6T] radeon 0000:02:00.0: GPU lockup CP stall for more than 10000msec

2014-03-14 Thread Yvon TANGUY
Hi,

Sorry I didn't reply ... or very late!

Since I had this bug, I switched to the fglrx driver.
I have tested Ubuntu 13.10 a little bit, a few days, with the mesa driver, and
I didn't get it again.
I have updated my BIOS too, but there was no change, anyway, I don't have
anymore an Ubuntu 12.04.0 installed, I now run the 3.11 kernel on my Ubuntu
12.04.
I will start soon to test Ubuntu 14.04 on my main computer (I currently only
run it on my second one). But I think, this problem seems to be solved with
newer kernel + mesa + Xorg stack.

Thank you for the support.

This morning I had my first crash with the kernel 3.4-rc4.

Exactly the same, but instead of being almost 1 or 2 a day, is less than 1 a
week.
That is far better, but not completely solve though.

I have no call trace, what can I do to have it too ?
Thanks.

No, it happen at any time. I do not do suspend/resume on this computer, it is a

I can have it like 1min, 3 hours or more after the system start. It is
completely at a random time for me. Even some day, it do not crash at all, but
sometimes it is 5 / 6 times a day...

[Bug 971240] Re: Won't load in 12.04 (beta 2)

2012-04-26 Thread Yvon TANGUY
Hi Norbert,
Thank you for your reply.

I saw the patch you have made, but no, it is not sufficient.

Since you have change others things too in your fix-stupid-libgtk
patch, I merged my changes, Zachary Dovel and yours in one patch.

It's time for a gwaei 3.2.0b1-3 version !

Change since gwaei 3.2.0b1.orig:

* Freeze main ui window: fix for stupid libgtk library breaking unrelated
software, needed
otherwise gwaei will never start (see eog bug #665374 for reference)
* Fix no menu display in the unity bar
* Fix French menu translation (' ' instead of '_' for keyboard shortcut)
* Fix statusbar too big (half of the result window)
* Fix crash when a result is not found with one dictionary, and then click on
one button of proposed dictionary
* Fix compile warning, use of deprecated function

To apply this patch:
patch -p0 debian_sid_gwaei-3.2.0b1-3.patch

[Bug 971240] Re: Won't load in 12.04 (beta 2)

2012-04-26 Thread Yvon TANGUY
No. I am the maintainer of gwaei in Debian. I have no upload rights
in Ubuntu, and have no idea how to get something into Ubuntu.

I think the response is here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SyncRequestProcess
or
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Ubuntu/ForDebianDevelopers

But it need that the Debian version is updated.

I'm sorry that I can't help you further, I do not know (and found almost
too complicated), how the debian/ directory works and can be updated.
For example, your patch format is not the same as mine, but I don't know
how to obtain the same format as you made. It is the same for changelog,
is it update by hand ?.

[Bug 971240] Re: Won't load in 12.04 (beta 2)

2012-04-26 Thread Yvon TANGUY
Hi Norbert (again today!)

There is only the menu problem on Ubuntu in the version 3.4.3. My fix is not
pretty (see comment 14), but at least the menu is display. There is one minor
problem too with the google search, when no result is found, the url don't work.
Another little problem on Ubuntu, I didn't figured out why, is that the main
toolbar of the search window have his background white, and not the black of
the Ubuntu GTK theme. There is no such thing with 3.2.0.

You will found my patch for 3.4.3 here.

2012-04-23 Thread Yvon TANGUY
I've have found the problem, I think (at least my patch work).
Do to the re-parenting, the menu is not really detected, I think it is done
when the menu is attach to the window, but if we re-parent only the top
container, the sub container menu, is not detected.

So I remove the menu from the toplevel container, add add it just after.

This patch contains also the empty window problem, and one compile
warning fixed (deprecated function used).

2012-04-23 Thread Yvon TANGUY
After testing a little bit, I have this patch which fixed (from the current
Ubuntu version):
- Freeze main ui window
- No menu display in the unity bar
- Fix French menu translation
- Fix statusbar too big (half of the result window)
- Fix crash when a result is not found with one dictionary, and then click on
one button of proposed dictionary

Note that the .ui files use GtkVBox and GtkHBox which are deprecated, changing
the one for the main ui, from GtkVBox to GtkBox with the property orientation
at GTK_ORIENTATION_VERTICAL, make the statusbar display as expected.
I have not change the others boxes.

[Bug 986524] [NEW] radeon 0000:02:00.0: GPU lockup CP stall for more than 10000msec

2012-04-21 Thread Yvon TANGUY
Public bug reported:

Often, the Xorg session freeze, go to black screen, and is display
again. Most of the time Xorg stop to respond.

I'm not sure what exactly is the cause of the problem, probably some
instructions send to the GPU by compiz, which make the kernel GPU code
to be locked. So my supposition is that the kernel code can have a
deadlock situation.

The only trace of error I have is in the kernel log (the kernel itself
do not crashed):

[ 808.804250] radeon :02:00.0: GPU lockup CP stall for more than 1msec

This can loop 1 to 5 times, with a few seconds between them. This situation can
happens any time, and rarely I can continue to use my session.
Like I said, the kernel itself do not crash, generally, I login using an
another computer with ssh, and type sudo reboot.

I have earch a little for that problem, I've found some, having GPU
lockup CP stall for more than 1msec but they seems to not be
related to my problem.

My ATI card is an Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 1Go, and I use the free
software driver. Using the previous version of Ubuntu I didn't have this
error.

I have almost no hope to have this bug fixed (too few infos, no one
having it), but is there some method I can use to get more informations
on this problem ? I will try a kernel debugging, but for a random bug,
it will be more harder. Some day it crash, some it don't crash!

[Bug 971240] Re: Won't load in 12.04 (beta 2)

2012-04-20 Thread Yvon TANGUY
I have just compile and test the 3.2.1 version, and it works. When I do
the same with 3.2.0b1, it doesn't work also.

After making a diff between the two versions, I saw that there is only
one c file different, some translations update, and other autotool
stuff.

If I just patch the file src/gwaei/gwaei.c with the modifications of the
3.2.1 version, it works:
~/tmp$ diff -r gwaei-3.2.0b1/src/gwaei/gwaei.c gwaei-3.2.1/src/gwaei/gwaei.c
54d53
 gdk_threads_init ();
58d56
 gdk_threads_enter ();
60d57
 gdk_threads_leave ();

Two solutions: upgrade this packga to v3.2.1 or add a patch to 3.2.0b1 version
to fix gwaei.c.
Is it possible to do it ?

There is one problem still, no menu ! With Ubuntu 11.10 and gwaei 3.0.2,
there is the menu in the unity bar, but not with the 3.2.1 version.

[Bug 730488] Re: [Lucid] xf86ScaleAxis problems with high resolution devices

2011-04-28 Thread Yvon TANGUY
Hi,

after upgrade my Ubuntu with this patch, X.org crash at system start-up (hard
reboot mandatory).
To repair it, I had to log in without X (failsafe mode), and re install the
AMD/ATI proprietary driver.
It may be cool, if this type of change occur in the future, to notice the user,
that they may have to reinstall their drivers, if they use proprietary drivers.

Note: I do not use the proprietary package proposed by Ubuntu, but the
one download directly to the amd.com website. The Ubuntu driver is too
old and does not recognize my graphic card (Radeon HD 6850).

Thanks for your attention.

[Bug 730488] Re: [Lucid] xf86ScaleAxis problems with high resolution devices

2011-04-28 Thread Yvon TANGUY
Hi

Yes I think, it's maybe not the first time it happen, I don't remember.

Maybe it is the MAD driver which does not do things well. Erase files with
their own, it's not a good way to do. But it's like that, and I cannot change
it. One thing can be done really easily I guess, it's to warn the user of this
issue.
If you are aware of it, you can takes actions before it brakes.

The problem seems to come from liblo-0.23/src/send.c source file.
The static int resolve_address(lo_address a) does not initialize the ai
pointer:
struct addrinfo *ai; // line 362

then when calling ret = getaddrinfo(a-host, a-port, hints, ai) //
line 373, the getaddrinfo call the function freeaddrinfo, with maybe an
uninitialized pointer.

I've juste replace the line 362 with;
   struct addrinfo *ai = NULL;

recompile, update my LD_LIBRARY_PATH env var, and relaunch ardour. It
work !

[Bug 313353] Re: Tree view freezes after expanding and collapsing

2009-05-31 Thread Yvon TANGUY
Confirmed for me on Ubuntu 9.04, package version: 1:2.26.2-0ubuntu2
Arch: AMD64

It is a low priority bug, but it is annoying !

I found two workarounds:
 1) Close the nautilus window and open another window...
 2) Close the tree view (click on the small cross), then display it again,
using F9 or via the menu window:
view-lateral panel (I'm using the french translation, so it is:
Affichage-Panneau latéral)

[Bug 316185] [NEW] space key does not work in the search textbox. rhytmbox start/stop playing the current music

2009-01-11 Thread Yvon TANGUY
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

All is in the title!

For me, I can't use the spacebar in the search textbox.

The spacebar event is capture to start or stop the music, like when the
textbox has not the focus and i press the crtl+space hotkey.

My keyboard have some problems, but i would notice something if the ctrl key
was allays down in others apps...
Only Rythmbox has this problem.

For example, research bob marley is impossible, i can only search
bobmarley, or use a copy/past method to have it.
