[Bug 273833] Re: v86d missing from initramfs
I dist-upgraded to Intrepid from Hardy. Boot would hang immediately after the usplash progress bar stopped 'bouncing' and started counting up. [Bug 52722] Re: Consistent 15-second hang with no window painting at launch
I can't duplicate this in Intrepid after recreating the situation that exposed the original problem. Since we don't have any reports of this post-Hardy, I think we can safely assume that the problem has been fixed by the move to GIO/GVFS. I'm marking this 'Fixed Released'. If anyone experiences this problem in Hardy or later, please comment here and we'll re-open the issue. [Bug 52722] Re: Consistent 15-second hang with no window painting at launch
Jonathan - this bug happens only in very specific situations, so "Epiphany works fine in Hardy" isn't an indication of anything. Most users will never see this problem; nevertheless, it still needs to be addressed. I'll try to recreate this in Intrepid. Since GnomeVFS has been deprecated in favour of the new GVFS stuff, this might be a non-issue in recent builds of Epiphany. I'd love to see this closed. [Bug 38917] Re: ip-up.d/0000usepeerdns shouldn't clobber /etc/resolv.conf (patch attached)
Yes, this is still a minor issue (years later!) When a new PPP link starts up and USEPEERDNS is set, the script /etc/ppp /ip-up.d/usepeerdns replaces all of the nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf. If you're accessing a PPTP VPN with a private DNS server, name resolution is broken as soon as the PPP link comes up. You can only browse to domains that the private DNS server knows about. My (admittedly simplistic) patch causes the script to *add* the VPN's nameservers to /etc/resolv.conf. The thing is, /etc/ppp/ip-up.d/0dns-up seems to do the same thing in a much smarter way (plus it's aware of the resolvconf package). I'm not sure why the two scripts exist; it seems that usepeerdns is redundant. -- ip-up.d/usepeerdns shouldn't clobber /etc/resolv.conf (patch attached) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/38917 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Not quite the same on Hardy. 1. In the Computer view, select a removable volume and look in the File menu. [Bug 52722] Re: Consistent 15-second hang with no window painting at launch
Essentially, if there's an SRV record being published on the LAN for a local web site, and the SRV record points to a hostname that doesn't have a published A record to resolve it, you'll get this problem. 1. Epiphany goes "Hi there local network, any web sites out there?" 2. Avahi says "Yes! One on joe.local, and another on frank.local!" 3. Epiphany adds joe.local to the "Local Sites" bookmark folder, asks "What is joe.local's IP?" 4. Epiphany hangs if joe.local has no A record in MDNS. 5. Eventually, Epiphany realizes it's not getting an answer and continues. The whole app blocks on MDNS queries for some reason. [Bug 157261] Nautilus browser-mode location bar segments should be drag and drop targets

[Bug 153745] Dell Latitude D620 fails to wake from suspend
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22 The Dell Latitude D620 fails to wake up after being suspended, running an up-to-date Gutsy. This is with no changes to /etc/default/acpi- support. After selecting System->Quit->Suspend: o the laptop quickly goes to sleep. o The Power LED slowly pulses, indicating sleep. Upon opening the lid or pressing the power button: o the laptop powers up and there's a bit of disk activity o the screen flickers once o Yellow text "Linu" is displayed in the upper-left corner. o All disk activity stops, and the machine hangs there. There is no response to Ctrl-Alt-Del, or Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. I can't Alt-Fx to a text console. X never even appears, and the only way to reboot is by holding down the power button (equivalent to pulling the plug on a desktop). Hibernate works, although I get a blank "notification" window in the bottom right of my screen after waking up. That may be the "Your machine failed to hibernate" notification, but since the window is blank and does not repaint itself before vanishing, I can't be sure. After waking from Hibernate, if my screen is not locked, I am asked to re-unlock gnome-keyring. I will experiment with acpi-support settings and post my results here. ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Dell Latitude D620 fails to wake from suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 153116] Possible solution
If this is indeed a battery problem, and not a bug in ACPI or g-p-m, would it be possible to have a workaround that would divide the last- full-charge and current-charge fields by ten if last-full-charge is more than 8 times the design charge of the battery? [Bug 153116] g-p-m or ACPI multiplies current and last-full charge fields by 10 for certain batteries
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager ACPI reports that one of my batteries has a current charge of 561Wh, and a last full charge of 566.7Wh. It also reports that the same battery has a design charge of 57.7 Wh. The "current charge" and "last full charge" readings are clearly bogus. They cause time-remaining estimations to be wildly optimistic. Interestingly, if you divide the "current charge" and "last full charge" by ten, you get a much more likely number for both fields. These wonky readings actually started when I was still running Feisty about two or three weeks ago (that is, before the new profiling code was enabled). I suspect a kernel update may have introduced an ACPI bug that is shifing the decimal place on those fields for certain batteries, but I'm posting this here so that we can confirm this is not a g-p-m issue. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- g-p-m or ACPI multiplies current and last-full charge fields by 10 for certain batteries https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153116 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
