[Bug 837954] Re: knockd service fails to start when connecting with NetworkManager

2015-10-26 Thread Zsolt Lauter
Um... I observed that it happens because my wireless interface is down
when knockd is about to start. It usually happens during boot and after
the machine resumed from suspend.

I thought I'll give a try to "After=network-online.target" option for
the systemd config of knockd but I didn't find any configuration. It
looks like there's an old-style init script under the hood.

Finally I wrote a bash script that starts or stops knockd when the
interface is up/down, made it executable and placed to
/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/ - it's working now.

[Bug 837954] Re: knockd service fails to start when connecting with NetworkManager

2015-10-05 Thread Zsolt Lauter
It doesn't start automatically on 15.04 with the following options:

/etc/default/knockd:
START_KNOCKD=1
KNOCKD_OPTS="-i wlan0"

/etc/knockd.conf:
[options]
logfile = /var/log/knockd.log

[SSH]
sequence = :tcp,:udp,:tcp
seq_timeout = 5
start_command = /usr/sbin/ufw allow from %IP% to any port 22
tcpflags = syn
cmd_timeout = 10
stop_command = /usr/sbin/ufw delete allow from %IP% to any port 22

systemctl status knockd.service tells it's "active (exited)".

[Bug 1296270] Re: Have to login twice after suspending

2015-04-26 Thread Zsolt Lauter
Since I upgraded to Vivid I get exactly the same issue Nils mentioned
here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1296270/comments/25
and I didn't have any double locks before. I had only the LightDM lock
screen, but now the old Gnome screensaver-like lock screen appears as
well, just before the LightDM lock. The funny thing is that the old-
style lock still appears even if I uncheck both System settings /
Brightness and lock / Require my password when waking from suspend and
System settings / Privacy / Security / Require my password when: Waking
from suspend.

[Bug 1241258] Re: wallpaper doesn't span across multiple monitors, white background shows instead

2013-11-03 Thread Zsolt Lauter
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1241252 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241252

I have the same issue. When I switch between the screen of my laptop and
the external monitor, the background of the external one suddenly
changes to blank white sometimes (the background colour of the launcher
on the external screen doesn't change but the notable objects from the
wallpaper shown below the launcher aren't there so the launcher keeps
the colour but misses the background image). Right click on the blank
white screen shows the menu and icons are visible as well.

I think it's not a duplicate of bug #1241252: the top menu bar doesn't
change.

I'm not sure it matters but according to lshw, I has an nVidia GT218M
[NVS 3100M] and I use the binary 319.60 driver (nvidia-319-updates).

Is there a way to force Network Manager to wait more?
I'd like to avoid this message somehow: association took too long, failing
activation. :)
By the way, I had a timeout/delay problem on my Dell machine as well when I
tried to connect to an OpenVPN network (connecting to other OpenVPN networks
worked like a charm) with Network Manager on Ubuntu 12.10 but I was able to
connect from my CentOS virtual machine with an older version of NM. But I think
it's a different story. :)

[Bug 705267] Re: Applications that remain running in notification area get relaunched

2012-03-28 Thread Zsolt Lauter
I'm not sure I have the same problem as described above.
When I start Thunderbird using the message indicator (envelope icon),
Thuderbird icon appears in the launcher. When I right-click on it and choose
keep in launcher the icon stays there. But... After these, when I start
Thunderbird through the message indicator again, the icon in the launcher is
not active and it doesn't have an arrow, instead of that, an empty space
appears on the bottom (there's no icon, just the space of it). After a
right-click on that, the keep in laucher menu item seems to be checked. When
I close the Thunderbird window after these steps, the empty space remains
there. It disappears when I uncheck keep in launcher but the keep in
launcher item of proper Thunderbird icon on the left bar gets unchecked as
well automatically, although it stays in the launcher. When I hide it by
checking then unckecking keep in launcher on it and I start Thunderbird using
the message indicator, there is no Thunderbird icon or empty space any more on
the launcher until I log out and back.
Skype has similar issues on my system since I updated yesterday evening. (I
update daily.)
I'm using Oneiric right now, the oneiric-security and oneiric-updates repos
(and a few PPAs but nothing that affects Unity AFAIK) and I don't use
oneiric-proposed and -backports.

Windows drivers using with ndiswrapper (1.38) on Feisty (kernel:
2.6.20-16-generic). The XP and W2k drivers gave the BUG: soft lockup detected
on CPU#0! error message after sudo modprobe ndiswrapper. The W98 and ME
drivers has been working for 5-10 minutes then gave these endless error
messages:

[Bug 103480] Re: soft lockup detected on CPU#0! When installing Ubuntu (I suspect PCMCIA slot)

2007-07-13 Thread Zsolt Lauter
I try to attach the outputs, but _without_ the loaded drivers. The
driver would freeze the system, it's obvious.

1. [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a
Linux laptop 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Thu Jun 7 20:19:32 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

2. dmesg log attatched
