[Bug 802660] Re: ALC670 5.1 surround not recognized properly on Acer Aspire 8943G

2011-07-07 Thread _artem_
i guess it's alsa-driver (kernel driver) problem, because it doesn't
know that acer aspire 8943g has a 5.1 on-board speakers, that's why they
are not working properly systemwide. so we have to wait untill alsa adds
support for 8943g, because they have support for 4 acer aspire **30g
models, but no one with **43g

[Bug 802660] Re: ALC670 5.1 surround not recognized properly on Acer Aspire 8943G

2011-07-06 Thread _artem_
delete spaces between channel names, my fault:
enable-lfe-remixing = yes
default-sample-rate = 48000
default-sample-channels = 6
default-channel-map = front-left,front-right,center,rear-left,rear-right,lfe

create in ~ a file named .asoundrc (with "." at the beginning) inside
this file add this:

pcm.pulse {
type pulse
}
ctl.pulse {
type pulse
}
pcm.!default {
type pulse
}
ctl.!default {
type pulse
}

restart, speaker-test should work, it works on my arch, should also work on
ubuntu

[Bug 802660] Re: ALC670 5.1 surround not recognized properly on Acer Aspire 8943G

2011-07-06 Thread _artem_
if you're using pulseaudio then create a file:
~/.pulse/daemon.conf

with this content:
enable-lfe-remixing = yes
default-sample-rate = 48000
default-sample-channels = 6
default-channel-map = front-left, front-right, center, rear-left, rear-right,
lfe

then restart and you should get center and lfe (subwoofer) in speaker-
test -c6 -twav

but I have no idea how to make it appear as 5.1 profile in system settings, and
in alsamixer as standalone CENTER, and LFE channels, I have only FRONT, and
SURROUND.
but the code I posted above should work for center and lfe in speaker-test, but
I don't know how to make it system-wide applied, tried lot's of .asoundrc
configs but nothing except speaker-test worked on all 6 channels

2011-07-06 Thread _artem_
affects not only ubuntu natty, also oneiric and archlinux. tried every single
model name listed in HD-Intel-Models.txt (Section ALC662/663/272) — but no
success, some models gave me Center and LFE in alsa mixer, but they didn't
worked in alsamixer.
Described the situation here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=121960
Hoping ALSA gonna fix it.

[Bug 76129] Keyboard layout stop switching after running KDE application in Gnome_Ubuntu

2006-12-17 Thread _Artem_
Public bug reported:

I have 2 layouts in my Gnome(2.16.1) Ubuntu(6.10): English and Russian.
After installing and running 'k3b' layout switching stopped working.
Sometime X-restart helps. After a while I've chosen
System->Administration->Language support and it said that I have some
problems with language-packages and started downloading new one (with
'kde' in package name). After installing this packages layout switching
has come back. When I've started k3b next time layout switching stopped
working again and for this time 'Language support' didn't help me. Then
I've decided to completely reinstall my Russian layout (again with
'Language support' application). And this method wins. But, after
restarting Ubuntu I'm still can't switch layouts.

** Affects: Ubuntu
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Unconfirmed
