[Bug 1825698] Re: Upgrade to 19.04 from 18.10 doesnt boot

2019-04-22 Thread adithya jayaprakash
Yes.. It looks like it is same problem.
As the bug 1825420 referred to virtual ubuntu, I thought this requires separate
reporting.
You can consider this duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1825420 if it doesnt
matter whether it is in virtual os or ubuntu

[Bug 1825420] Re: package linux-image-5.0.0-13-generic 5.0.0-13.14 failed to install/upgrade: triggers looping, abandoned

2019-04-21 Thread adithya jayaprakash
Faced same problem while upgrading from 18.10 to 19.04
Upgrade completed but showed
" Could not install 'linux-image-5.0.0-13-generic'
The upgrade will continue but the 'linux-image-5.0.0-13-generic' package
may not be in a working state. Please consider submitting a bug report about it.

triggers looping, abandoned

Workaround:

Run recommended `dpkg --configure -a` before actual reboot.

I reverted to old kernel 4.18.0-17 and 19.04 booted fine although it
takes a longer time than usual. Then I deleted this 5.0.0-13 kernel and
headers

[Bug 1825698] Re: Upgrade to 19.04 from 18.10 doesnt boot

2019-04-21 Thread adithya jayaprakash
Sorry I cannot add the log files now since i do not have the said kernel. I am
running Ubuntu 19.04 now with 4.18.0-17.
But I can tell you what the error message was.

Actual results:
* upgrade process ended with warning message:

Could not install 'linux-image-5.0.0-13-generic'
The upgrade will continue but the 'linux-image-5.0.0-13-generic' package
may not be in a working state. Please consider submitting a bug report about it.

Workaround:

I could not run the recommended workaround.. So i deleted the 5.0.0-13 and
booted Ubuntu 19.04 with 4.18.0-17.

[Bug 1825698] [NEW] Upgrade to 19.04 from 18.10 doesnt boot

2019-04-20 Thread adithya jayaprakash
Public bug reported:

Upgrade completes but shows error message that linux kernel 5.0.0-13 may not be
in working state.
After completion of upgrade Ubuntu doesn't boot at all.. Just shows few blank
screens and hangs.
I reverted back to my old kernel 4.18.0-17 that was in Ubuntu 18.10 and it
booted fine..
Then I dleleted the new 5.0.0-13 kernel and headers.
Now Ubuntu 19.04 boots fine with old kernel.

I also tried reinstalling kernel 5.0.0-13. But faced same issue again. So again
I went back to old kernel.
I noticed others too have been facing this problem.
KINDLY LOOK INTO THE BUG AND LET US KNOW THE SOLUTION

[Bug 1311417] Re: poweroff/reboot/logout does not work

2014-04-23 Thread Adithya
Yes I use unity.

When I click the menu where I can see the suspend/logout/shutdown in the list.
Suspend: works
Logout: shows me the pop up box giving me an option to log out and switch user.
when I click log out it does not work and brings me back to the desktop.
Shutdown: also shows me the same pop up box with the option as log out and
switch user. when I click its does not work.

And also the lock screen also does not work I have raised a separete bug
for that but did not get any response.

The problem with the lock screen is when i click the screen turn black
when i make a mose movment or a key press it brings back my desktop with
out asking for my password. FYI I did set a password.

Referance to the other bug.

Thanks, looking for your support on fixing this its becoming a pain to
use the terminal to shutdow. and sad that I can't lock my screen.
