K8M800 laptop still freezes with hardy alpha3. Only tested the
'antinspect' screensaver, it took two seconds to lock up.

2007-12-16 Thread ahaslam
Kai, it takes more than the .run ;)

I've not tried it yet as that laptop is no longer mine, though I'm sure I'll be
trying it soon.
If it works properly, would it be possible to implement in coming Ubuntu
releases?

Nice find Djainette ;)

Ben, did you look at the date there? It took a while for Via to release
decent Windows drivers.

[Bug 36014] Re: kernel can't scale cpu frequency

2007-04-25 Thread ahaslam
Please excuse the query, I realise the status has moved to Fix Released.

I've got Feisty X86_64 and cpufreq also doesn't work properly. I have a
Core 2 Duo E6300 over-clocked to 3.15GHz but the recognised freq's are
2.0 2.333GHz. It seems to me that it's not reading the fsb correctly
as these figures follow the x6 x7 multipliers. When at standard clocks
it is the same story but with lower figures.

If this is irrelevant to this bug please let me know where to post
what information is required.

Thank you.

PS. Couple of questions:
Is it actually setting the displayed frequency's, or is it simply a misreading?
How can scaling be stopped, I've stopped the powernow acpi services, I've
also blacklisted acpi-cpufreq to no effect.

[Bug 43154] Re: computer freezes with some applications using 3D

2007-02-13 Thread ahaslam
I've been using the openchrome svn for some time, the problem still
persists. Of course this is apparent under every Distro, but this seems
to be the only place where such a large number of users have confirmed
the issue. I suppose my question should have been, 'are the Ubuntu dev's
planning to help, or are we hoping that mesa becomes maintained?'

When it crashes, everything freezes - nothing responds, it's totally
locked up.

If you know of any way for me to obtain extra info please let me know
I'll gladly try it again.

[Bug 80205] Ubuntu Herd 2 - i386 Desktop CD - Installation Error

Public bug reported:

The i386 herd 2 iso works well as a live cd, but I can't install from
it. I launch the installer successfully go through the first 4 steps,
but it crashes freezes my laptop on the transition to step 5.

I posted extra details on the forum:

[Bug 80323] Ubuntu Fiesty Herd 2 - i386 Alternate CD - gdmsetup

2007-01-17 Thread ahaslam
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Test case type: Ubuntu Feisty X86, Alternate CD. Changing login
settings.

Image ID: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/feisty/herd-2/feisty-
alternate-i386.iso

Dowloaded and burned: feisty-desktop-i386.iso

Date of testing: 17.jan.2007

Md5sum confirmed: Yes.

Pass/Fail: Fail.

I can't change the login settings using gdmsetup, this is from both the
control center the CLI.

When I issue 'gksudo gdmsetup' I'm asked for my password and then
nothing happens, it just seems to wait indefinitely.

This happens at every attempt, on every login - no errors are ever
logged, it just waits

Not a GDM/gdmsetup problem, see here:
