[Bug 970049] [NEW] X hangs after pluggin second monitor, BUG: triggered 'if (!dev-valuator || dev-valuator-numAxes 2)'
Public bug reported: Downloaded Precise Beta2, prepared an USB drive to boot from, booted. Went to Displays. Unchecked Mirror displays. BLAM! Both screens blank, system unresponsive (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace does not work, Ctrl-Alt-F1 does not work, only Magic SysRq does). I was able to log into the system using ssh from another computer. Just checked today and I still cannot have two monitors connected. It still hangs and the only way to reboot the machine is through a Magic SysRq. System halts with black screen, unable to kill X server, unable to switch to console. I discovered that using the noop scheduler helps. However, they seem to have finally fixed this bug. I just tested it using a newly created user account. The problem no longer occurs, therefore this might be a problem with some remnants of 11.04 configuration. The bug is caused by having the dconf setting org/gnome/desktop/interface/text-scaling-factor set to 0.95.
