[Bug 970049] [NEW] X hangs after pluggin second monitor, BUG: triggered 'if (!dev-valuator || dev-valuator-numAxes 2)'

2012-03-31 Thread ajarmoniuk
Public bug reported:

Downloaded Precise Beta2, prepared an USB drive to boot from, booted.

Went to Displays.
Unchecked Mirror displays.

BLAM! Both screens blank, system unresponsive (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace does
not work, Ctrl-Alt-F1 does not work, only Magic SysRq does).

I was able to log into the system using ssh from another computer.

The system is a Thinkpad T500 laptop with a second monitor.

Just checked today and I still cannot have two monitors connected. It
still hangs and the only way to reboot the machine is through a Magic
SysRq.

So it's definitely not fixed.

[Bug 500069] Re: USB file transfer causes system freezes; ops take hours instead of minutes

2012-03-02 Thread ajarmoniuk
I discovered that using the noop scheduler helps. However, they seem to
have finally fixed this bug.

I'm on Ubuntu 11.10 with 3.3.0-rc5 and these are my results (copying
from an external usb drive):

rsync:
   733507584 100% 30.89MB/s0:00:22 (xfer#1, to-check=0/1)

Somebody should verify with 3.2 as I guess this will be the kernel that
will ship with Precise.
