then I wake up.  The text gets garbled.

I need to update this bug:

I don't think it actually has to do with the kernel, it is more of a
virtualbox issue,  seen here: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/9260

I confirmed this when I reverted beack to 2.6.32-32 and installed
virtualbox 4.1, suspend didn't work,

uninstalling virtualbox allows suspend to function properly

I'm joining the party as well..although for me Karmic was working fine.
The problem only happened when I upgraded to Lucid,   I do indeed notice
that the signal is lower, and if there are other wireless networks
(where I live there are more like 7) it keeps dropping every few minutes
