*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1342586 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1342586

I am still having this bug. I do not think that it is actually a
duplicate of bug #1342586 since the later one is fixed.

Thanks Till!

You hit the nail on the head! My printer is using A4, while my programs

The issue is now resolved for me.

Thanks again!

If yes, which information is missing?

I captured the print job data as descripted in the wiki. The output is

[Bug 595017] Re: Can't print in Lucid, works in Karmic

2010-10-29 Thread alex_b
This bug affects me too. I have Ubuntu 10.04 (amd64) and also a Lexmark
T640 printer (connected through the network). The problems are not
specific to particular documents. I have attached the error_log file
(with debugging information enabled as described here
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems) for a failed attempt
to print. I don't see anything suspicious in the log file.

When I connect to the webpage of the printer, I see for a short moment
'printing canceled', then the usual 'printer ready'.

As the original poster, everything worked on Ubuntu 9.10.

[Bug 490017] [NEW] rendering errors followed by complete system crash

2009-11-29 Thread alex_b
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04. While browsing or reading email (firefox and
thunderbird), the X server started to display some characters and images (in
firefox) wrongly. After a short time the complete system crashes. It is not
possible to log in remotely with ssh or to switch to virtual terminals (with
Ctrl+Alt+F1). My laptop is a HP EliteBook 6930p described here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/HPCompaq6930p/Intel with Mobile Intel
GMA 4500MHD video card.
It is the second time I have this problem.

In the kernel.log files I have the following error message:

2009-11-17 Thread alex_b
The Geoff's solution solved the problem for me! (on ubuntu 8.04 and ubuntu
9.04)
(the fc-cache command was not necessary here)

Many tanks !

[Bug 315429] [NEW] netcdf-python craches when manipulating 2d variables

2009-01-09 Thread alex_b
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: python-netcdf

I'm using python-netcdf (version 2.4.11-1ubuntu3) from Ubuntu Server
(8.04.1) 64-bit on Intel Xeon CPU E5420.

Running the example "netcdf_demo.py" shows the problem I experience:

$ python /usr/share/doc/python-netcdf/examples/netcdf_demo.py
Floating point exception (core dumped)

This file should create a NetCDF file and read the data back. However,
it crashes at line 31 ("foo[:,:] = 0."). Every time a 2d array is
accessed (reading or writing) python crashes. Vectors (1d arrays) seem
to be ok.

I'm not able to reproduce this problem with on 32-bit processor. It
seems to be specific to 64-bit.

[Bug 197820] Re: No window decorations under compiz

2008-05-16 Thread alex_b
Same problem here (Hardy with all updates and intel 915GM graphics card).
The problem does also appears with very simple freeglut programs such as the
GLUT example lorenz:

http://freeglut.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/freeglut/freeglut/freeglut/progs/demos/Lorenz/lorenz.c?revision=1.8

To compile with:
gcc -o lorenz lorenz.c -lglut -lGL -lGLU
