[Bug 311204] [NEW] sysfs: duplicate filename 'vcsa1' can not be created
Public bug reported: Continuing the reports from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/196409 I reported the bug for 2.6.27-10... then i had removed the fglrx driver that i had installed via envy-ng and it booted correctly again. I switched to the Ubuntu fglrx a week ago. it worked, even though i used the laptop rarely. Today it the bug occured again a few times, but this time it does'nt stop at 32000 any more, but resets to 0 and keeps on with the udevd messages... the system doesn't allow switching consoles but reacts to ctrl-alt-del with a clean reboot. first i tried: booting into 2.6.27-11-generic rescue mode - worked. choosing resume ended in the endless message loop again. second: booted into rescue more, fixed the X server and rebooted: success! so i will not touch the fglrx for a while and stay with the default open source driver. this is a sad situtation, but as an owner of an ATI graphics card i am used to a lot of problems ;-) OK.. i hope this helps in finding the bug. [Bug 152664] Re: update-rc.d segmentation fault on upgrade from clean feisty to gutsy
We had the same problem while upgrading from edgy to feisty to gutsy. In gutsy dist-upgrade we got the segfaults. Our solution in quick notes from memory: * We left out what was mentioned in the second post. * Only installed libc6-xen with aptitude (accepted the proposed downgrade solution). Segfaults were gone now, and we were able to configure the list of unconfigured packages! After that we still had problems with a newer version of libc (...ubuntu10). Then we did: * add multiverse to /etc/apt/sources.lst * aptitude install ubuntu-xen-server Getting much further now.. but still config probs * aptitude remove libc6-i686 ubuntu-minimal sounded like a reasonable solution. and indeed now we're able to successfully finish an aptitude upgrade run. but: The following packages have been automatically kept back: libc6 libc6-dev guess that we have to wait for the updated libc6-xen version to meet these dependencies. -- update-rc.d segmentation fault on upgrade from clean feisty to gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152664 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
