2012-07-15 Thread alfonx
For me this bug is reproducible/ not reproducible on my Thinkpad 410s
depending on wheter I disable/enable the touchpad with Fn-F8 before or

[Bug 778256] Re: Notification area (system tray) missing when using dual monitors of different sizes, with their bottoms aligned

2012-01-18 Thread alfonx
I can confirm the bug for 11.10. If you rotate one of the two screens by
90, you can only do it when the screens are topaligned.. Otherwise the
bar is in the dead space.. a bummer. Please someone help, i sponsor 2
beers via paypal!

[Bug 311204] [NEW] sysfs: duplicate filename 'vcsa1' can not be created

2008-12-24 Thread alfonx
Public bug reported:

Continuing the reports from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/196409

I reported the bug for 2.6.27-10... then i had removed the fglrx driver that i
had installed via envy-ng and it booted correctly again.
I switched to the Ubuntu fglrx a week ago. it worked, even though i used the
laptop rarely.

Today it the bug occured again a few times, but this time it does'nt
stop at 32000 any more, but resets to 0 and keeps on with the udevd
messages... the system doesn't allow switching consoles but reacts to
ctrl-alt-del with a clean reboot.

first i tried:
booting into 2.6.27-11-generic rescue mode - worked. choosing resume ended in
the endless message loop again.

second:
booted into rescue more, fixed the X server and rebooted: success!

so i will not touch the fglrx for a while and stay with the default open
source driver. this is a sad situtation, but as an owner of an ATI
graphics card i am used to a lot of problems ;-)

OK.. i hope this helps in finding the bug.

[Bug 152664] Re: update-rc.d segmentation fault on upgrade from clean feisty to gutsy

2007-11-24 Thread alfonx
We had the same problem while upgrading from edgy to feisty to gutsy. In
gutsy dist-upgrade we got the segfaults.

Our solution in quick notes from memory:

* We left out what was mentioned in the second post.
* Only installed libc6-xen with aptitude (accepted the proposed downgrade
solution).
Segfaults were gone now, and we were able to configure the list of unconfigured
packages!

After that we still had problems with a newer version of libc
(...ubuntu10).

Then we did:

* add multiverse to /etc/apt/sources.lst
* aptitude install ubuntu-xen-server

Getting much further now.. but still config probs

* aptitude remove  libc6-i686 ubuntu-minimal sounded like a reasonable
solution.

and indeed now we're able to successfully finish an aptitude upgrade run.
but:
The following packages have been automatically kept back:
  libc6 libc6-dev

guess that we have to wait for the updated libc6-xen version to meet
these dependencies.

[Bug 99267] Re: USB does not have power after wake-up

2007-04-19 Thread alfonx
I con confirm that for latest Feisty. I suspend to ram with s2ram -f on a
Thinkpad Z61m.
Some lspci:

00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI #1
(rev 02)
00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI #2
(rev 02)
00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI #3
(rev 02)
00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI #4
(rev 02)
00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 EHCI
Controller (rev 02)

Pluging something (well...) into the USB ports doesn't show a sign on
dmesg.

[Bug 80692] Re: democracyplayer crashes on startup

2007-04-19 Thread alfonx
I had upgraded to version 0.9.5.1 with via
deb http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/pculture.org/democracy/linux/repositories/ubuntu
feisty/
a while ago, and it crashed. Original feisty version was not working before.
Purging and installing 0.9.2.1 from feisty repository WORKS now!
