[Bug 52787] openafs-modules-sources should also create a second openafs-module-2.6- pkg
Public bug reported: Hi, After version and api of the kernel one has to rebuild openafs-module- (see wish #52786). Even storing it in a private repository does not update the hosts where the new kernel was installed because it's a new pkgs. Would be handy if openafs-modules-source would also create a openafs-module-2.6- pkg depending on the built openafs-module-2.6.- pkg (same type as linux-headers-2.6-). So once openafs-module-2.6- in installed, and updated openafs-module-2.6- pulls in automaticly the new pkg openafs-module-2.6.-. [Bug 52792] module list not updated when openafs-module-- is installed
Public bug reported: Installation of AFS client in dapper, makes the client fails when done like: aptitude install openafs-module-- openafs-client while this works fine: aptitude install openafs-module-- depmod - aptitude install openafs-client Postrm script has a # Automatically added by dh_installmodules if [ "$1" = "configure" ] && [ -x "`which update-modules 2>/dev/null`" ]; then update-modules >/dev/null || [ "$?" = 3 ] fi but there is no - info. So something is wrong. I assume everyone (like me) tries to install updated openafs-modules--abi together with an updated kernel, so after a reboot everything works again as before. openafs-client init.d script does also strange things. First it goes to great detail to figure out the full path for the right kernel-module, then it simple uses modprobe openafs${MP} which fails due to missing/failed depmod run. While insmod would work (hack hack ;) Achim ** Affects: openafs (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- module list not updated when openafs-module-- is installed https://launchpad.net/bugs/52792 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 23211] Re: (breezy) Cups cannot print to browsed printer
Hi Martin, AFAICS your suggestion in dapper sudo /usr/share/cups/enable_sharing 1 is NOT the solution. This only changes listen in ports.conf and 'sharing' is confusing here. 'sharing' is for most users c) descripted below We have three major use cases: a) local-printer-user, aka I use my local printer and don't care about other computers -- this is dappers default setup b) cups-printer-client, aka I want to use automaticly see and use printer (served by cups) on the lan -- this needs: browse.conf Browsing off -> on cupsd.conf: BrowseAddress @LOCAL <- comment it out!! 2nd step is necessary, otherwise you announce locally installed printers on LANs (sec bug: information leaking), get hopelessly bombed with request of other cups installations in TCP 631. that can never work because of Listen 631 c) cups printer server, aka you want to make you local printers available to all computers of type b). browse.conf Browing off -> on ports.conf Listen localhost 631 -> Port 631 in case information leak bug in b) is fixed, also cupsd.conf BrowseAddress @LOCAL <-- comment out only for print server ;) So a simple command that manipulates ports.conf or browse.conf is not (IMHO) a solution. This has to be changed to support a) b) and c) to be user-friendly. Aunt Mary has no glue how UDP and TCP play together to get want she wants ;) So this, I can see the printer(s) but can't print to is/will be in almost all dapper cases 'Browsing on' and by default BrowseAddress @LOCAL enable. I can confirm on dapper + KDE 3.5.4. Addition: kwallet service is running and working only systray icon is not visible. I've now found a hack to get systray icon back: after konqueror ask for an password from the wallet, konqueror displays an wallet icon in the lower right corner. clicking on it opens an empty wallet window. click once more wallet window opens now with the wallet(s) listed. The problem ocoured with pkg vmware-player-kernel-modules-2.6.15-23-686 and this pkg is built to work with 2.6.15-23-686 kernel, not 2.6.15.7-ubuntu1-fai-kernels. So it's IMHO definitely ;) not a bug in fai. vmware-player-kernel-modules-2.6.15-26 in dapper has in postinst: ... case "$1" in configure) depmod -a ;; ... but it should use 'depmod 2.6.15-26' instead. [Bug 50450] Re: kdmrc lists /usr/bin twice in path examples
in kde 3.5.4 for dapper from kubuntu.org: # The PATH for the Session program. # Default is "/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games" #UserPath= # The PATH for Setup, Startup and Reset, etc. # Default is "/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11" #SystemPath= So /usr/bin/ is listed only once. On the other hand /usr/bin/X11 is added, and at least on my dapper system this is a link to /usr/bin ;) Debian maintainer added in changelog: * Manually add /usr/bin/X11 to the KDM's default session path, as otherwise systems still running X11R6.9 won't be able to find X binaries, which can cause the login process to fail under certain circumstances. This bit of cruft (for X11R7 users) should be harmless, and can be removed post-Etch. (Closes: #367072) So I assume in Edgy there's no need for /usr/bin/X11 but I doubt it's worth the future merges. Out of curiousity: Did you just stumble of this bug or are you used to use this menu item? (I'm pondering about simply removing this item ;) Quick and dirty fix would be to edit /usr/share/applications/kde/display.desktop and to replace NoDisplay=true with #NoDisplay=true (dirty because it will get overriden in case the kcontrol module is updated). AFAIK the config module display is replaced by displayconfig so one fix would be to let digikam start kcmshell displayconfig instead of kcmshell display. [Bug 75435] Re: digikam expects trash to be in ~/Desktop/Trash - causes error in Ubuntu
Hi Menachem, digikam 0.9 or 0.8.2 does not matter because they use the trash support from kdebase. I've create a fresh default ubuntu edgy installation, and aptitude install'ed digikam, and Pictures I deleted in digikam ended up in ~/.local/share/Trash (that did not exists before I started digikam. Maybe the protection of ~/.local is wrong so kio_trash can't create it? Nevertheless creating a soft link ln -s ~/.Trash ~/.local/share/Trash should fix your problem (tested here works fine. Gnome trash gets the counting wrong from because it does not understand the XDG draft but that's cosmetic.) Anyway. The hole stuff is not a bug in digikam. digikam uses trash kio slave (as all conformant KDE apps should to). So running GNOME apps in KDE desktop or vice versa would have the problem The kio_trash implements the XDG trash standard currently at http://www.ramendik.ru/docs/trashspec.html. This draft is referenced at http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Standards. For every user2 a “home trash” directory MUST be available3. Its name and location are $XDG_DATA_HOME/Trash ; $XDG_DATA_HOME is the base directory for user-specific data, as defined in the Desktop Base Directory Specification . Technically the bug is invalid because ,as ZhengPeng explained, kubuntu-desktop is the englisch desktop. [Bug 86480] Re: UVF exception : dcraw 8.39 -> 8.61
Hi Till, AFAIU the restricted part is _NOT_ the problem, 'cause: this part in the license has _NOT_ changed. Problem is, AFAIU, GPL was replace by "No license is required to download and .." See also my comment from 26-Feb: Dave does not understand _WHY_ Debian/Kubuntu has a problem with the license at all. I've asked for clarification but neither Tollef nor James answered :( IMHO: As we provide the code in the source pkg, I (whatever that's worth) and obviously Dave, as it looks to me from Dave answer to Gilles question, see no problem distributing dcraw. If in doubt, append the source code (it's one C file) in the debian/copyright file. As is, we are stuck. :( Nobody, that has a problem with the license explicitly states/explains what the problem with the license is. This blocks completetly the support of all new RAW cameras. As a consequence all linux apps that support raw cameras will need backporting as dcraw interface changed as usual and every app will need to be backported to the older dcraw.
